    The ruffle and roll intro is so wistful. It brings back the days of living in one industrial Massachusetts neighborhood after another, when I was one "of the gypsies out there." And mine, too, was "fast ... too hot to touch."
    This is a song of growth in love. No matter what the trouble, you keep up trying to communicate, while accepting he won't change, and in that, he is "the long-distance winner." It is truly a song someone still in her 20s can interpret with heartache and loss.

    "Tried to win and I lost again..." I, too, had my "Long Distance Winner" years ago, and he tore my heart into little, tiny pieces. Hope you find someone someday who is not so fast and cool to the touch. Good luck, reindeergirl. He's got to be out there somewhere. Keep trying. I gave up long ago.

    • @lisellesloan3191
      @lisellesloan3191 8 лет назад +2

      +Joshua Polak Well, I was in Philadelphia then, and the two big FM stations there did not play them, even though they played plenty of semi-obscure artists (Remember "Renaissance" and Ambrosia's FIRST albums?) So, if Philly was not playing them, you KNOW it's the record company's fault! Lousy promo to the max!

      Joshua Polak a FWM fan first, my mother played them while pregnant with me. I was born 1985. I loved them growing up but only recently was more curious about their story. Frozen love by Buckingham Nicks has become my new favorite song and that just doesn’t happen. You love a band and artist so much it’s your top 5, but there is something more spectacular you havent heard yet? It’s bc Buckingham Nicks is little known and yes, it surprises me SO MUCH that they could not break into the industry alone as great as they were? Fate just knew we all needed them to be a part of the beauty, Fleetwood Mac is. I am very much enjoying this new treasure chest of songs bc it reminds me of being younger and first listening to Fleetwood Mac, feeling an exciting attraction to their music- loving it. It’s like meeting them all
      Over again- Buckingham Nicks you two made beautiful music but truth be know- y’all needed some other buffer band mates or prob would have killed each other. The world thanks you for your art!

      It's mind boggling to me that this song doesn't get more notoriety. Part of the reason that it fell under the radar is that it's not a Fleetwood Mac song-- more specifically, it's not on the Rumours album. And many Fleet Woodies (and classic rock connoisseurs in general) have such a hard on for Rumours that they think any Stevie/Lindsey songs that aren't on that album are insignificant. Oh well, their loss

  • @billjannusch

    Wow...this is so good...thanks for posting this...this is so raw...like maybe recorded on some cassette recorder at a live event...I'd like to extract this and drop it into Logic to remix it...maybe use today's plugins to get a stereo effect or something...and the bass isn't that prominent in it, so maybe play the bass line over the top of it...Stevie's (Stephanie's) vocal range was really good...this was done in a higher key than what they used on the Buckingham Nicks album...I really love both versions. Again, thanks, and hope you and yours are doing great.

    This is Stevie's song saying that she feels she is going to lose Lindsey. Too hot to touch, he's too fast he's the winner. Part of why they broke up is that she felt she wasn't on his level, that he was a musical genius, guitar vurtioso, and she was just this singer. I think she's great, but she didn't think she was as good as him. Listen to the lyrics. They were so great together, but pressures and insecurity drove them apart, along with a lot of coke!

    • @1besieged
      @1besieged 7 лет назад +7

      Stevie Nicks is a better singer , and she wrote most of the big hits on this album and Fleetwood Mac...
      I think Lindsey regrets their break up.... Stevie remained single ..... tells you a lot about her.. she did love him more then her words say...

    • @1besieged
      @1besieged 3 года назад +3

      Stevie Nicks made Fleetwood Mac climb to the top, but the band overall is great, she was the songwriter & lead singer, she drove the crowd wild just her presence and singing, they goe CRAZY over her, you can't blame them.

    • @judeward5341
      @judeward5341 3 года назад

      @@1besieged Well, sex usually wins, even against talent like Lindsey’s - and Stevie was brilliant at selling herself on stage. She was always very honest about wanting to be a world star, whereas Lindsey (along with Christine) was just interested in making the best possible music.

    • @snoops5581
      @snoops5581 3 года назад

      @@1besieged She had many lovers & boyfriends over the years She made a decision early on she didn’t want children because she knew she couldn’t raise kids & tour the way she did. She was married once to Kim Anderson. I think she definitely moved on though.

    • @1besieged
      @1besieged 3 года назад

      @@snoops5581 Yes I know she was married to her deceased friend Robin's widow, Stevie easily could have afforded a nanny though, she said herself she regrets having the abortions and not having children, but she gave her fans 100% I thank her for that. I know her niece sings a duet w/ her (her brother's daughter).
      I could only hope Stevie would hire a surrogate and have some kids, she could bring in a live in nanny of course. :D*
      Just an idea.

    Here's a fantasy: Imagine if Buckingham Nicks had run across Steve and Cassie Gaines before they joined Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve wrote some great songs for that band. They both were playing around the south during the 73 - 75 years, BN in Alabama and the Gaines' in Georgia. I wonder what kind of music the talented foursome would've made?

    • @lisellesloan3191
      @lisellesloan3191 8 лет назад +3

      Right, I know that. But from what I understand from interviews, Ms. Nicks preferred to write by herself. I googled it, and it said she wrote it. The lyrics pretty clearly speak of her relationship with Buckingham, and some nascent issues. But thanks.

    • @amyklemley

      She got sole credit on some early things and continues to do so, of course. But much of her solo stuff was written "in a way" (her words) with Mike Campbell from the Heartbreakers, who sends her instrumental tracks to match her lyrics to. And she co-wrote most of the In Your Dreams album with Dave Stewart (formerly of the Eurythmics).

    • @BubbaZen10
      @BubbaZen10 8 лет назад +1

      Well, she obviously wrote the lyrics, but, as far as composition, i would say this was Lindsay. She probably came up with the key, and an idea of the chords, but, i'm pretty sure Lindsay did most of the "composing" here. :)
