I am Indian living in Australia n I can hand on heart say .. the Mahindra will easily survive Australian conditions.. just need more dealerships and spare parts backing .. I recently bought a Mahindra Scorpio here .. absolutely love it and my aussie frds here are completely impressed with this car.
Minus 8 point for being safe on front but killing the car which is in colliding from the front Isn't car on the front should have better safety ???? Ancap is weird 🤡
Hyundai and therefore Kia dropping the diesel for Australia 🇦🇺 would be a massive mistake. It would immediately remove them from a large number of consumers. Like companies that insist on space saver tyres for rural Australia. It’s simply not an option to have ‘city’ versions in our rural areas.
What drew me to buy the 2020 Sante Fe was how open and spacious the driver's area felt. I got the fully loaded package and love everything. But now with the raised center console, it feels confining and closed-in. I love the new lighter interior option, but that tight closed-in cockpit driver experience is a hard "No" from me. And I would really hate to loose the bench back seat as I load a lot on those. I have no need of a 3rd row. Sad, because I was willing to upgrade and pass on my 2020 to family. But I'll keep the more open expansive version.
Hey @carExpert. Do you have a rough eta on when you'll do a proper review on the Santa Fe? Wanting to buy one as a town run around for myself and kid (maybe kids in future). Not worried about travel as my partner will be getting a Patrol.
Santa Fe and Ev9 do share the same lines, the glass house, wheel arch angles etc look very similar to me too. EV9 does have nicer styling though, the Santa Fe looks horrific to me!
Hi Guys enjoy the channel, Paul, I have a question regarding these imports. Obviously there aren't any choices, but we have cars coming in from Europe, Asia, states, the question is regarding Prices on maintaining costs, availability of spare parts ect. Would it be an idea to also do some research on this part of owning a car. Regards from Korea
I'm waiting for the official review of the Hyundai Santa Fe hopefully they give you the highlander spec to review. I currently have the 2022 1.6L hybrid santa fe highlander and absolutely love it great for around town on fuel and carting the kids around although I was a bit thrown back by the 70k i paid for it but feature wise its great. I get roughly 5.5 - 6L/100km
Agree to an extent about road taxes but what about rural motorists who have to drive alot more kms to do the basics? I'm semi rural and it's a good 50km to buy milk or bread. What about folk who have to drive several hundred km to the nearest town. I understand we already pay more with fuel usage however at least we get better fuel economy, hence less tax due to the efficiency of doing 80-100kph.
Just don't underestimate mahindra, they are a brand that should begin to really show some force in Australia over coming months . The Hyundai is well established. Only downside is no diesel globally in the new model due early next yr
The new Santa Fe looks quite a bit bigger than the current model, is it close dimensionlly to a Palisade? Hyundai may need to update the Palisade pronto to stop Santa Fe Cannibalising sales.
Santa Fe looks great but engine is like from 15 years ago. Looks like they have given up on ICE development. Should be plugin hybrid with 2.5 na and 200hp electric motor like Rav4 prime. Which is smaller car.
I would like to road tax like Victoria where everyone pays same n if weight/km tax was added then rural workers/farmers should get some sort discount as it’s not work but sporting events, school travel other social events, like me I can’t afford second small car n I drive ute to help my family farm n other farmers especially picking up supplies bring to farm saving extra trip to town. For Xmas presents best one last year was Kincrome advent calendar or bon bon set of 4 with 4 tools.
Thar will not be broight to western markets, period. Bcoz it was Jeep who had put a legal case against Mahindra on design. Mahindra will not take any chances.

Registration Australia wide should be based purely on the weight of the vehicle, as that is what ultimately damages our roads. This should be regardless of drive train. No relief for the wealthy.

I agree with Paul 100% there should be a flat rate across the board for road tax or maybe even a tiered version of that?
Can I expect a dedicated video for THAR from you soon ?? @carExpert
Live now :-)

In the USA they have Thar (named roxor) people modified them too core
See Mahindra is one of that who's not in a RAT RACE, but continuing on their basics and roots of Utility & rugged SUVs

The Skoda brand here in EU is actually a VW or an AUDI, with different plastic quality..

Ev9 is a heavy car but still not as heavy as a Ranger Raptor
It’s about 300kg heavier. ~2700kg for EV9 GT-Line v ~2400kg for Raptor. Only the base EV9 with small battery and single motor is lighter.
