That's not the twist. There's something very meta happening so far. There is a mystery Box now with Susan Twist appearing in most episodes. She ayex Isaac Newton's maid, A Hippie in the Church on Ruby Road, a Crew member from Space Babies, and a Tea Lady in this episode.
It's probably more because the copyright for Beatles songs is insanely expensive. I can't imagine how much more the character versions of them could have done here without having to bring in one of their songs.
I’m absolutely loving this new season! I love how this is playing out and Jynx was absolutely fantastic! Space Babies was a great glimpse in to Ncuti’s Doctor and how he’s going to be moving forward.
The neighbor, Mrs. Flood, was played by Anita Dobson. Susan Twist is the actress who has shown up as a minor background character in the last 4 episodes: The maid in Newton’s time, the “give it some welly” woman in the crowd listening to Ruby’s band, the Comms officer amongst the crew resigning and registering their protests, and the expensive tea lady. Of course if she’s a regenerating time-traveling time lord (time lady?), then it could be the same character with a different face in the same “time zone”- just like the Gatwa doctor can be on the EMI studios roof at the same time the Hartnell doctor can be in a junk yard on Totters Lane.

Its not the first time that the Who theme crops up in an episode, Peter Capaldi did it with an electric guitar. Plus, there's a classic Who story, maybe McCoy & Ace era where I recall one of them leaving someone's front room with the TV on (1960's era). Just after they exit the room, the announcer on the TV introduces the 'new' science fiction show...Doctor Who.
Gosh this was a crazy episode indeed. Honestly I didn’t think I was going to like this story but surprisingly i did. I really enjoyed this story, maestro was wild! Oh the scene where they travel to see London in the future, kinda reminds of Pyramids of Mars
The Beatles were not involved more because they would have to pay an astronomical amount to use their music, etc. The others you mentioned are all long dead and their names and likenesses are in the public domain, therefore free.
My guess is that The One Who Waits is something like a celestial storyteller. There's been a *ton* of fourth wall breaking in these last three episodes -- even the more subtle ones, like the Doctor saying in this episode "I thought that music was non-diagetic!" -- and I'm getting the feeling that's intentional. Combine that with the way the "pantheon" of celestials are all based on fundamental methods of expression, like games and music... plus the whole season's theme of "stories coming to life", like with the Goblin King, then the Boogeyman... and with Ruby's birth memory both manifesting itself in the space station *and* altering itself -- like rewriting the story. All of that to me screams "we're getting a celestial who can manipulate stories so much they're influencing the story of Doctor Who itself". (Oh, and the way the goblins were powered by coincidences -- like, "oh, isn't that a convenient bit of writing to move the plot forward" in a story, perhaps?)
I don't know if the following "Twist" even has any "deeper meaning" - but it's still kind of intriguing. There is this unnamed (female) character, who appeared in "Wild Blue Yonder", who also appeared in "The Church on Ruby Road", and who has even briefly appeared in "Space Babies" and "The Devils Chord" (and maaaaybe she'll be in future episodes too? Who knows? 🤔😉 )....... It's not known if the character is supposed to be the same person. But the ACTORS name is Susan Twist. (Dun Dun DUUUUUUUN!!!!!) 😳 As I said, I don't know if this means anything...... But then again...... In the end........ 😏😉

LET'S GO! I loved this episode so much. The oldest must mean Maestro's older sibling who might be a good guy. And The One Who Waits is so powerful that the entire family fears them.
I saw someone spit balling that The One Who Waits could be Clara, stuck in the last moment of her life (or whatever it was, been a while lol) running around the universe in her own Tardis, but went insane and evil and set all this up to destroy the Doctor and save herself etc. Kind of makes sense, but it's so unlikely lol

If her birthday is getting closer it could be they usually always have some holiday special right and she was a Christmas baby. If I recall the docotr also mentioned June 2024. Since it's not June yet this obviously implies the show is ahead of us a bit. As it progresses we could end up in December.
The only thing I'm wondering is why was it raining inside? The ballons and the musical notes in Abbey Road? I'd guess that it's related to what happened in the previous episode with the snow....??????? But neither the Doctor or Ruby comment or even acknowledge that at all so......??????
If Maestro returned, I’d like to see them control the doctor with music like the pied piper, breaking into song and dance, with actual musical numbers, (I have the scene with the piper in controlling the ogre’s in Shrek forever after in my head) 😅😅

Hmm after mulling on it, i think rubys a plant from the toymaster, or possibly the master.. i think the actress susan twist playing numerous different characters, the latest being s. triad is because she IS the tardis, remember how the doctor bigenerated, then said were still in the toymasters world and pulled out a cartoon hammer then split the tardis into two, its been acting odd ever since, so maybe shes the other half in disguise, its been done before, Being in the toymasters world would explain why everythings super cheesy, n why its dr seussy and breaking the 4th wall, and why all the episodes seem so off....also when the so called sonic was used to silence maestro it wasn't blue like it usually is. There's a theory that the fourth wall breaks are part of the other weirdnesses going on since Wild Blue Yonder. The "superstitions coming true" stuff. Like the butterfly thing in Space Babies. The song at the end of this was a disappointing. It....wasn't great.

The good things out way the bad, Ncuti Gatwa is fantastic as the Doctor he's one of the few I've intentatly liked glad they finally mentioned Susan the song and dance number at the end took me out of it a bit.

There is a mystery Box now with Susan Twist appearing in most episodes. She ayex Isaac Newton's maid, A Hippie in the Church on Ruby Road, a Crew member from Space Babies, and a Tea Lady in this episode.
I wonder if the Beatles weren't more a part of the story because 2 of them are still alive, all other real people have been long dead.
It's probably more because the copyright for Beatles songs is insanely expensive. I can't imagine how much more the character versions of them could have done here without having to bring in one of their songs.
I’m absolutely loving this new season! I love how this is playing out and Jynx was absolutely fantastic! Space Babies was a great glimpse in to Ncuti’s Doctor and how he’s going to be moving forward.
Did you notice how the old lady neighbor has been in every episode since the first tennant 60th special?
The neighbor, Mrs. Flood, was played by Anita Dobson. Susan Twist is the actress who has shown up as a minor background character in the last 4 episodes: The maid in Newton’s time, the “give it some welly” woman in the crowd listening to Ruby’s band, the Comms officer amongst the crew resigning and registering their protests, and the expensive tea lady.
Of course if she’s a regenerating time-traveling time lord (time lady?), then it could be the same character with a different face in the same “time zone”- just like the Gatwa doctor can be on the EMI studios roof at the same time the Hartnell doctor can be in a junk yard on Totters Lane.
Small correction: not the last 4 but rather 4 of the last 5. She wasn’t in “The Giggle” episode (at least not that anyone has reported spotting).

Supposedly Susan twist (the dr granddaughter) is “the one who waits” and that’s the reference of “there’s always a twist at the end”. This is all of course speculations and conspiracy theories haha. But thought I’d share that fun tidbit

The one who waits is called Chris, his name has been in huge letters throughout the episode. Or it just could be coincidence. Something to think about.

Its not the first time that the Who theme crops up in an episode, Peter Capaldi did it with an electric guitar. Plus, there's a classic Who story, maybe McCoy & Ace era where I recall one of them leaving someone's front room with the TV on (1960's era). Just after they exit the room, the announcer on the TV introduces the 'new' science fiction show...Doctor Who.

Gosh this was a crazy episode indeed. Honestly I didn’t think I was going to like this story but surprisingly i did. I really enjoyed this story, maestro was wild! Oh the scene where they travel to see London in the future, kinda reminds of Pyramids of Mars
The Beatles were not involved more because they would have to pay an astronomical amount to use their music, etc. The others you mentioned are all long dead and their names and likenesses are in the public domain, therefore free.
My guess is that The One Who Waits is something like a celestial storyteller. There's been a *ton* of fourth wall breaking in these last three episodes -- even the more subtle ones, like the Doctor saying in this episode "I thought that music was non-diagetic!" -- and I'm getting the feeling that's intentional. Combine that with the way the "pantheon" of celestials are all based on fundamental methods of expression, like games and music... plus the whole season's theme of "stories coming to life", like with the Goblin King, then the Boogeyman... and with Ruby's birth memory both manifesting itself in the space station *and* altering itself -- like rewriting the story. All of that to me screams "we're getting a celestial who can manipulate stories so much they're influencing the story of Doctor Who itself".
(Oh, and the way the goblins were powered by coincidences -- like, "oh, isn't that a convenient bit of writing to move the plot forward" in a story, perhaps?)

I don't know if the following "Twist" even has any "deeper meaning" - but it's still kind of intriguing. There is this unnamed (female) character, who appeared in "Wild Blue Yonder", who also appeared in "The Church on Ruby Road", and who has even briefly appeared in "Space Babies" and "The Devils Chord" (and maaaaybe she'll be in future episodes too? Who knows? 🤔😉 )....... It's not known if the character is supposed to be the same person. But the ACTORS name is Susan Twist. (Dun Dun DUUUUUUUN!!!!!) 😳 As I said, I don't know if this means anything...... But then again...... In the end........ 😏😉

I saw someone spit balling that The One Who Waits could be Clara, stuck in the last moment of her life (or whatever it was, been a while lol) running around the universe in her own Tardis, but went insane and evil and set all this up to destroy the Doctor and save herself etc. Kind of makes sense, but it's so unlikely lol

Or in every important moment in his timeline, or something like that. So, if she goes crazy and evil, and has her own Tardis and stuck in her last moment - maybe she just became incredibly powerful somehow. I have no idea, like I said these folks talking about it were just spit balling and said it's very unlikely. Plus, Clara coming back probably would have leaked by now. Maybe.

If her birthday is getting closer it could be they usually always have some holiday special right and she was a Christmas baby. If I recall the docotr also mentioned June 2024. Since it's not June yet this obviously implies the show is ahead of us a bit. As it progresses we could end up in December.

My theory is that it was like the "state of play" that lingered after the Toymaker's defeat. So they used it to make a musical number this time.

I felt the same way, it made sence, as if music had been taken away, the first thing you would do when it came back was sing and dance.
I think there setting up an episode (possibly the final episode or the Christmas episode) where ruby will find out why she was left and I wonder if the next door neighbour knows something 🤔 and every episode they meet someone who warns them or something

i think the actress susan twist playing numerous different characters, the latest being s. triad is because she IS the tardis,
remember how the doctor bigenerated, then said were still in the toymasters world and pulled out a cartoon hammer then split the tardis into two, its been acting odd ever since, so maybe shes the other half in disguise, its been done before,
Being in the toymasters world would explain why everythings super cheesy, n why its dr seussy and breaking the 4th wall, and why all the episodes seem so off....also when the so called sonic was used to silence maestro it wasn't blue like it usually is.

The good things out way the bad, Ncuti Gatwa is fantastic as the Doctor he's one of the few I've intentatly liked glad they finally mentioned Susan the song and dance number at the end took me out of it a bit.
I totally agree about the "Twist at the End" song. It really sounded like the bad songs at the beginning. Loved the episode, though! Great villain with fun cartonny facial expression.
