I think the intention was more that it was the bassline from the theme.

I love the acknowledgement of the First Doctor and Susan being in Shoreditch at the same time as Fifteen and Ruby are on Abbey Rd. And I won't lie, the dog song was hilariously painful 😂 Jinx slayed.
There's one actress who's had minor speaking roles in all episodes so far, her name is "Susan twist", and as the song said there's always a -susan- twist at the end.

Y'all cut out the BEST joke right before Ruby got taken by the music notes. The Doctor says "I thought that was non diegetic" as in music that the characters of a show cant hear but the audience can.

Fun Fact for those only familiar with NuWho. This is the second time that The Doctor has had to demonstrate to a companion that the future is not deterministic when gods are involved. Sarah Jane made the same argument to the Fourth Doctor in The Pyramids of Mars. Just as The Fifteenth had to do with Ruby, the Fourth Doctor took Sarah Jane to a destroyed 1980's, courtesy of the Osirian god Sutekh

RTD, Ncuti and Monsoon all said in interviews that anyone who has a problem with the show featuring endless in your face left wing identity politics should not tune in. As a lifelong fan of the show I was happy to oblige. Watching this reaction I'm glad I did.

Apparently there is an appearance by the actress Susan Twist in each episode (one of the tea ladies in the kitchen in this episode) so “there’s always a twist at the end” might have a very meta layered meaning for the season as a whole
There are similarities between this story and the Fourth Doctor's story "The Pyramids if Mars". He and Sarah Jane encountered a God level being named Suketh, in 1917 , and the Doctor took her back to her time in 1980 to show her that her timeline would be destroyed if they didn't stop Suketh in the past.
Thank you for noticing H.Arbinger kid coming back. I think that was the twist that was hidden in the song. Everyone I've seen discussion about the episode hated the ending. I think they missed that.
I enjoyed Space Babies, but I LOVED this one. I think it’s gonna be looked back on fondly for a long long time.

Two of the dancers at the end are part of Strictly Come Dancing ( dancing with the stars) in the U.K. Shirley Ballas ( a judge) and joannes radabe a dancer on the show.
The twist was that they were all doing the twist as their dance
Also that Susan Twist is always in the credits.
That's not the twist. There's something very meta happening so far. We've had several 4th wall breaks (Mrs Flood, the Doctor in this), this dance sequence at the end, we've had an actor called Susan Twist appear in every episode as a small different side character in every story since RTD came back. It's almost like they're in a TV show within the show. Perhaps there's another pantheon god that's controlling all of this so far.

And as a bonus, to fit the rule, they added harbinger as a twist tease that maestro couls return. They didnt literally just go lets make a song and dance to point out this one specific twist

I wonder if the Beatles weren't more a part of the story because 2 of them are still alive, all other real people have been long dead.
It's probably more because the copyright for Beatles songs is insanely expensive. I can't imagine how much more the character versions of them could have done here without having to bring in one of their songs.

One nice theory I've seen on the music dance scene is that it's due to Maestro's lingering domain, just like when they defeated the Toymaker & they were still in a state of play, the same is happening for when the Doctor & Ruby banished Maestro. It also explains why the zebra crossing lights up or the rain & thunder in the studio.
That note that Paul and John played sounded like it was from a day in the life. Harbinger comes before a member of the pantheon comes and sometimes helps them to come, he will always be in our world to see them coming into it. He is like a character in DC comics who is always present when a world in the multiverse is destroyed, his curse is to bring warning and to see it happen, except this kid is part of bringing the disaster on I think this series is going to be exciting and very active which is why I prefer a younger Doctor.

I don’t know if I am looking too much into this but after the Maestro mentions the one who waits the Doctor and Ruby go to the roof and the billboard has the name Chris Waites on it. Is the fact it says Waites connected to the one who waits?
Double Easter egg. First, the name Waites/waits. But the name was also mentioned in the very first episode, “An Unearthly Child.” Susan was listening to music on her transistor radio. It was John Smith and the Common Men, and Ian remarked that it was the stage name of The Honorable Aubrey Waites who was previously in a band called Chris Waites and the Carrollers. (Both are fictional.) Another Susan reference. She’s got to show up sometime, lol.

I grew up with classic Who (my earliest Who memory is Tom Baker regenerating into Peter Davison) and have watched them again over the years but not enough for all these little call backs to register. I agree that the fact he talked about Susan and told Ruby about Totters Lane hints that Susan will appear at some point.
Supposedly Susan twist (the dr granddaughter) is “the one who waits” and that’s the reference of “there’s always a twist at the end”. This is all of course speculations and conspiracy theories haha. But thought I’d share that fun tidbit

Did you notice how the old lady neighbor has been in every episode since the first tennant 60th special?
The neighbor, Mrs. Flood, was played by Anita Dobson. Susan Twist is the actress who has shown up as a minor background character in the last 4 episodes: The maid in Newton’s time, the “give it some welly” woman in the crowd listening to Ruby’s band, the Comms officer amongst the crew resigning and registering their protests, and the expensive tea lady.
Of course if she’s a regenerating time-traveling time lord (time lady?), then it could be the same character with a different face in the same “time zone”- just like the Gatwa doctor can be on the EMI studios roof at the same time the Hartnell doctor can be in a junk yard on Totters Lane.
Small correction: not the last 4 but rather 4 of the last 5. She wasn’t in “The Giggle” episode (at least not that anyone has reported spotting).

Gosh this was a crazy episode indeed. Honestly I didn’t think I was going to like this story but surprisingly i did. I really enjoyed this story, maestro was wild! Oh the scene where they travel to see London in the future, kinda reminds of Pyramids of Mars

There is a mystery Box now with Susan Twist appearing in most episodes. She ayex Isaac Newton's maid, A Hippie in the Church on Ruby Road, a Crew member from Space Babies, and a Tea Lady in this episode.

I’m absolutely loving this new season! I love how this is playing out and Jynx was absolutely fantastic! Space Babies was a great glimpse in to Ncuti’s Doctor and how he’s going to be moving forward.
Its not the first time that the Who theme crops up in an episode, Peter Capaldi did it with an electric guitar. Plus, there's a classic Who story, maybe McCoy & Ace era where I recall one of them leaving someone's front room with the TV on (1960's era). Just after they exit the room, the announcer on the TV introduces the 'new' science fiction show...Doctor Who.

My guess is that The One Who Waits is something like a celestial storyteller. There's been a *ton* of fourth wall breaking in these last three episodes -- even the more subtle ones, like the Doctor saying in this episode "I thought that music was non-diagetic!" -- and I'm getting the feeling that's intentional. Combine that with the way the "pantheon" of celestials are all based on fundamental methods of expression, like games and music... plus the whole season's theme of "stories coming to life", like with the Goblin King, then the Boogeyman... and with Ruby's birth memory both manifesting itself in the space station *and* altering itself -- like rewriting the story. All of that to me screams "we're getting a celestial who can manipulate stories so much they're influencing the story of Doctor Who itself".
(Oh, and the way the goblins were powered by coincidences -- like, "oh, isn't that a convenient bit of writing to move the plot forward" in a story, perhaps?)

LET'S GO! I loved this episode so much. The oldest must mean Maestro's older sibling who might be a good guy. And The One Who Waits is so powerful that the entire family fears them.

I saw someone spit balling that The One Who Waits could be Clara, stuck in the last moment of her life (or whatever it was, been a while lol) running around the universe in her own Tardis, but went insane and evil and set all this up to destroy the Doctor and save herself etc. Kind of makes sense, but it's so unlikely lol

@@christianschoff2490 I mean if Clara went bad, really really bad - who knows. Let's not forget, Clara was tied into every Doctor's timeline, right? Or in every important moment in his timeline, or something like that. So, if she goes crazy and evil, and has her own Tardis and stuck in her last moment - maybe she just became incredibly powerful somehow. I have no idea, like I said these folks talking about it were just spit balling and said it's very unlikely. Plus, Clara coming back probably would have leaked by now. Maybe.

If her birthday is getting closer it could be they usually always have some holiday special right and she was a Christmas baby. If I recall the docotr also mentioned June 2024. Since it's not June yet this obviously implies the show is ahead of us a bit. As it progresses we could end up in December.

It's so funny that people here are crying about the musical at the end when the whole episode was about music and its absence of it and what it does. So stupid lol
I felt the same way, it made sence, as if music had been taken away, the first thing you would do when it came back was sing and dance.
I don't know if the following "Twist" even has any "deeper meaning" - but it's still kind of intriguing. There is this unnamed (female) character, who appeared in "Wild Blue Yonder", who also appeared in "The Church on Ruby Road", and who has even briefly appeared in "Space Babies" and "The Devils Chord" (and maaaaybe she'll be in future episodes too? Who knows? 🤔😉 )....... It's not known if the character is supposed to be the same person. But the ACTORS name is Susan Twist. (Dun Dun DUUUUUUUN!!!!!) 😳 As I said, I don't know if this means anything...... But then again...... In the end........ 😏😉
between the 2 episodes this was my fave. i loved Maestro. so a creepy villain. i love music that's probably why this scared me so much. can't wait until next week. great reaction
I think there setting up an episode (possibly the final episode or the Christmas episode) where ruby will find out why she was left and I wonder if the next door neighbour knows something 🤔 and every episode they meet someone who warns them or something

The only thing I'm wondering is why was it raining inside? The ballons and the musical notes in Abbey Road? I'd guess that it's related to what happened in the previous episode with the snow....??????? But neither the Doctor or Ruby comment or even acknowledge that at all so......??????
My theory is that it was like the "state of play" that lingered after the Toymaker's defeat. So they used it to make a musical number this time.

Disneys Once Upon A Time have done this Emma had a hidden song in her heart put there by her mother before she had to give her away as a baby & that protected her when she came up against her enemies & even kills her most dangerous foe with the hidden song. This is not a new concept ... Sorry

There's a theory that the fourth wall breaks are part of the other weirdnesses going on since Wild Blue Yonder. The "superstitions coming true" stuff. Like the butterfly thing in Space Babies.
The song at the end of this was a disappointing. It....wasn't great.

i think the actress susan twist playing numerous different characters, the latest being s. triad is because she IS the tardis,
remember how the doctor bigenerated, then said were still in the toymasters world and pulled out a cartoon hammer then split the tardis into two, its been acting odd ever since, so maybe shes the other half in disguise, its been done before,
Being in the toymasters world would explain why everythings super cheesy, n why its dr seussy and breaking the 4th wall, and why all the episodes seem so off....also when the so called sonic was used to silence maestro it wasn't blue like it usually is.
