Thank you so much! I really enjoy teaching and the best is when students 'get it'. Watercolor is wonderful and the more people who paint, it makes the world a better place.
I have a great photo with fog that I have wanted to paint and this video has given me the skills and courage to go forward with it. Thank you so much for your teaching heart! I learn so much from your videos.
Deb that was absolutely fabulous!..I learnt sooo much, I just loved using this pallet, I've not used cerulean blue very much as it seemed such an unnatural shade of blue, so I just avoided it really. Now it's in my favorites :-) I just love your style you are a star and such a good tutor :-) I'm very grateful , thank you ❤
You're very welcome! I use cerulean often, mixes with ultramarine, it makes perfect snow in shadow and mixed with a little thalo blue, it makes a beautiful robin egg's blue. Plus it lifts well.
Hi Kim, the black ones are Silver Black Velvet brushes - very soft and hold a lot of water. My favorite is the 3/4 inch oval wash brush. It's a great value as it's a lot less than similar quality brushes and I've been using it for over eight years without it wearing a bit (and I paint a lot.)
There is a major problem with your setup. During the entire video there is a massive glare/reflection from your light off of the paper. It makes it where you cannot see any colors. You either need to filter the light or place it where you have two lights from each side. Thanks
Why exotic paint colors Cerulean Blue/yellow? Why not mix cerulean blue with a touch of yellow wet on wet? Is that why there are 3,216 Daniel Smith watercolor colors? What ever happened to the three color painting RBY diehard mix yer' own painting technique?
+digiphot2 - it was cerulean blue mixed with yellow, sorry if I didn't make that clear. Using a limited palette of three to five colors and letting color mix on the paper are wonderful techniques for better painting
The purpose for the question was that you had a Burnt umberviolet in your first painting a brown mixed with violet...accentuating the fishermen in their boat! If it wasn't that burnt....violet it was something similar in the browns mixed with violet...Daniel Smith and American Journey have it! Now why don't professionals squirt a bit of this and a bit of that into a bowl and mix it up to make a new watercolor colors? everybody has over 300 colors in their collection or more!
I love the manner in which you demonstrate your painting. You are so easy to understand and follow. Thank you.

I'm facinated with the way Deb makes the fog in watercolor.

Thank you for such a clear and thoughtful narration. Your explanations of why you're doing what you're doing is especially helpful.
Thanks Deb, I am painting your tutorial today. I like your style and narration very much.
I love your work and style, Deb
Thanks a bunch for this really great demo. Lots of useful tips in this for painting mountains, fog and water.

Another great tutorial. Wondering what kind of paper you are using?
Arches art board - illustration board like with a watercolor paper surface
