---------------------- ABOUT DEB WATSON ----------------------------------------------------
Deb Watson is a well known artist and teacher in watercolor realism. She loved art from an early age, but her parents thought it a waste of time. Even while working as a nurse and raising a family, Deb still found time to teach herself to paint. As her skills improved, she began teaching. Giving other people the encouragement she never found is very rewarding for Deb. She lives in Lancaster, PA with her husband and dog, Edgar.

I wish all artists posting "tutorials" would explain what they're doing the way you do here, Deb. It makes a world of difference.
It's wonderful to have you back on RUclips, Deb! And thanks for such an eye pleasing painting.
I just watched this demo of creating fog for the second time. Now that I have more experience, I can understand more. You are such an inspiration to me, Deb. Thank you.
Hi Deb, Thanks for the great demo on fog, one of my favorite painting subjects in watercolor and oil. Love your gentle touch and comments. Super work.
I too have watched it a number times! Great teaching!

This is a very nice and clearly explained technique to make fog on the bottom edges.
Thank you very much for posting, it's helpful!
John I’m but I must eat my words [Yum]. I had only seen the one reply that seemed critical.
I just found this reply. My mistake I own it! Sorry for jumping to conclusions 🙏🏼

I love this! You're an excellent teacher.
HI Deb, I watched this video 6 or 7 times before attempting the painting. I'm so pleased with the result. I wish I could show it to you. You are very generous with your time and you videos are detailed and instructive. Thanks for your help.
best demo I've seen. Bravo!
Great tutorial: informative and detailed explanations of how to paint fog with watercolours.
You make it look so easy. Thank you, Deb.
Thank you so much. I always wanted to learn how to paint fog with watercolor and this is the perfect tutorial :)
Terrific instruction. Thank you!
Thank you for uploading. The painting looks amazing.
Lovely fog technique and tips thank you!
Magic happens at 2:45. . . =^)
This is a great technique that looks deceptively easy, but there are a few ways to mess it up. If you put your clean brush loaded with water directly on the paint edge, you'll get a blossom into the paint area; maybe not what you want. But if you start with the water a few cm away from the painted edge, and then just touch the brush to the edge of the paint, the pain will generally flow toward the water. That's what she's doing here. It is a subtle difference, but the end results are polar opposites.
very nice tip ...thanks

Thank you for this insight...
Oh thanks, what RUclips channel do you have? Are you in any galleries.
If you know all of this why don’t you get a channel or only watch what what YOU need to learn.
This seems like criticism to me, I hope I’m wrong 😑
Love it. Love the technique! 💕
This was great!! My painting turned out beautifully in my first try. I'm going to do it again 'cause I'm not happy with some bits but wow. I'm a beginner, like I've attempted 3 watercolour paintings before coming to this and I loved it. I don't have any fancy paints or know their names but I used black for my first mountain thing, black and blue for my second and black and purple for my third. It looks awesomee
Absolutely Beautiful
Thank you Deb. One of the best demos I have seen. This is so helpful for me as a complete beginner. You took the time to explain what you were doing. You are a great teacher and artist. Thank you.

I really enjoy your video. Everything is explained clearly and you have a soft voice.
You really encouraged me, I have never none water colors, however I have watered down my paints to look like water colors, but it's different.
Thank you for the good ideas!
Lovely. Thank you!
beautiful, love your artwork, i subscribed to your channel in hopes of seeing more beautiful artwork.
Thank you Deb for sharing, so enjoyed the demo. and your valuable tips.😊
You are very welcome, Maria! Adding fog to any painting gives it more interest - you can use opaque white to add fog to paintings you've already painting, also.
Thank you for your videos I really love your art work
Beautiful work thank you
Wonderfully done. It’s so beautiful. Thank you giving ideas on how to go about making fogs.
You're welcome, Amy. You can add fog to older painting by using opaque white paint. A little fog often makes a landscape more interesting.
That is an excellent technique and demonstration. The best I’ve found on RUclips thus far. Thank you
Wow, thank you so much, Donny!
Thank you so much. The ability to paint a somewhat presentable picture renewed my faith. You broke it down to skills I could do! I am a fan! As an educator I really appreciate good teaching.
Wonderful! Thank YOU for the kind words.
Thank you, it helps a lot!
dear Deb, to me, you are absolutely the best watercolour instructor on u tube! !! your gentle speech is so soothing. thx for this video. I tried it and it turned out superb. Will stay with your videos for all my learning.
Thank you - your comment made my morning brighter.
Thank you for making and sharing This. I loved following it while I painted. Thank you for reminding me that not everything needs to be wet on wet.
You are so welcome!
Great work. I will try it
Beautiful tutorial
Beautiful!
Thank you, Meri! Foggy scenes work well with one or two colors. The bigger change in value (from white to black) the more dramatic.
Nice demo.thanks
I love this so much..........going to try with a friend.
Painting with a friend is always more fun!
Very enjoyable to watch your talent and calm teaching, extremely Helpful 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful, James. I like effects like fog and blowing snow, and they add a lot of interest to your paintings - well worth learning.
@@DebWatson thank You 🙏🏼
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!
Hat's off mam... Your paintings are wonderful....
Beautiful Deb, thank you!💖
You are so welcome - we did this in class and every painting looked unique.
@@DebWatson That's the best part isn't it each person has their own style.
Good Job its so cool.
Great tutorial! You make it look easy.
Take it one section at a time, Terri, then it becomes doable. I'll be posting a great video on scraping rocks this week. Another easy way for beautiful watercolor.
Fabulous demo. Thankyou
My pleasure! This is an older video but still a very effective painting method.
This is SO beautiful! I will try today to replicate this technique. You are an amazing art teacher. Gracias
Thanks so much 😊
SUPER!!!
beautiful
Fun and easy.Thanks
You're welcome, Andre. This will be featured in an upcoming online lesson.
Wonderful. Love your videos
Thanks, Amy. This is an older video, but watercolor techniques are timeless.
I like this one a lot......bunches, in fact! = )
THANKS AGAIN very good
Awesome!
Thanks, Cherice. There are lots of ways to paint fog - all of the make great paintings.
This same effect would apply for steam and then adding some layers of Payne's Gray and pale gray blue for deeper shadows between the steam plumes. Thanks for making this tutorial. I'm nearly ready to do this on my current piece.
Sounds like it will be great!
Thank you 👍
Excellent!
Thank you, Sharon! Cheers!
Great tutorial on fog. Can't wait to try it. Could you talk about how you get your dark color mix of blue and grey. Is it mostly paint with a touch of water. Thanks
thank you
Great work and wonderfull informations . Thanks
So nice of you
HI, DEB WATSON VERY INTERESTING ,THANKING YOU
Great!!!
Thank you, Carolina! Fog adds a great atmosphere and a lot of interest in any painting.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm currently in a 2nd dimensional class and we are learning about watercolors.
Hope your class is fun - I think watercolor is the easiest medium.
Brilliant thank u
You are very welcome, Sally. Practice a technique three times in a row for the best learning and skill improvement.
I love it, have you painted one with a castle way in the distance?
This is wonderful! It made me sign up for your course. How do i get a print of this art to transfer to my paper? You are fabulous!
Hi Deb! This was a wonderful watercolor tutorial. If not the best! Your techniques are so helpful to me, and I love how concise this is. All of your explanations are brilliant.
Thank you so much! I've been teaching a long time - I love it seeing how enthused the students get when they do great paintings.
@@DebWatson I started to paint this in my watercolor sketchbook. The only water wet brush technique didn't work well and I'm guessing that it is because it isn't 100 percent cotton paper. But I have some arches arriving tomorrow! 🙂
I'm going to try to do an overlapping wet on wet after my tree outline dries. And will probably have to remove some paint etc.
I want to be able to paint the foam in a waterfall.
@@soupbonep You're probably right about the paper. With a little practice, I think your waterfall will be beautiful
Hi, I received your comment about your work, but the link didn't come through. Feel free to email me at deb@debwatson.org
that paintbrush is ultra big, but my big one just covers the painting in synthetic hair, and the one which i mostly use for watercolouring is small, is there a way i can paint clouds with a small paintbrush...i am asking this since, the small paintbrush is mostly used for over details
Thanks for sharing your awesome tutorial ma’am. I love the serenity of your painting. So calm and beautiful to watch.☺️💕👍🏻
Hello 👋🏻 I’m your newest follower ma’am.☺️👍🏻
God bless and please keep safe always.☺️🙏🏻
Thank you! I take requests, too, if there's a subject or technique you'd especially like to see, don't hesitate to post it in the comments.
Deb Watson
My pleasure and thank you so much for being kind.☺️💕🙏🏻
Hi Debra, a very happy new year....i tried this today.... It's a real easy method....though a learner like me can still stumble and over do the fog...i think it turned out not do bad..... Thanks for sharing your technique...
You're very welcome! Fog can add a lot of interest to your subject by making it stand out, so it's a great technique.
Lindo trabajo. Creo que falta detallar mejor el reflejo de la vegetación sobre el agua. Pero la neblina quedó estupenda.
it's magific
Thank you
You're welcome - fog really makes watercolor landscapes more interesting, so it's well worth a little practice.
which brushes are you using?
