    How to make it right:
1st Room Gain is constant NEVER a bump - It works totally correct the way it is shown in your Video and is meant for sealed rooms when subs are corner placed and your are likely (very) close to the back wall
2nd Modes are visible in the heat map (click on spectrogram) or Waterfall by long decay times
3rd Hit your modes and don't guess where they are. The filter needs to be a perfectly inverted version of the mode :
Blick on the button "EQ" then Modal analysis > "find resonances" > search for the loudest ones below in the list (You can find them in the pole/zero plot, too), open the tab in which you can simulate an EQ (EQ filters).
select filter type modal type in the center frequency and T60 Target. Check if there are overlapping modes in close to each other. Then they need to be aligned.
Reduce gain until Mode is smoothed out
It will help to t setup target setting (Subwoofer):
Typically roomgain (LF rise) of +2.0-2.5 db/octave from Start 180-200Hz end 63hz. Activate lowpass if it is applied to your measurement. Hit "calculate target level"
Read values on "EQ filters" and type them into SVS app.
Note Keep away from nulls this makes everything worse and may damage you woofer
Redo measurement & be happy with impulse response acurate responses :-)
Hope that helps & have fun calibrating

Thank you Rubin for the detailed information in your comment. I researched everything you reference and found the modal filters you mentioned. Even though I had to build the modal filter myself (novice level REW filter builder lol) I followed REW HELP suggestions and matched the filter to the mode shape. I don’t know if the SVS app is capable of using the mode filter as I do not have a SVS sub, but I successfully used it in the miniDSP2x4HD.

I try to get the absolute most out of the equipment I have, which is part of the reason I started this channel. I love helping people get the most out of what they have or can afford.
Most of the products I have reviewed on this channel have been loaners from companies that I've contacted or have contacted me; I get to play around with them for a couple months then have to send them back. Hey Brad, thanks for the video.
I’m a getting a pair of SB-1000 pro and I’m wondering whether a mini dsp would be needed or I could make due with the 3-band PEQ on the pros. Point being you wouldn’t normally EQ down more than 3 bands for flatten a sub response so it feels like getting a DSP would be overkill.
Essentially, from my perspective, either I get two non-pros + mini dsp or two pros. Would you agree?
    Thank you !

I have my PB1kP, not having auto room correction in the app is frustrating to say the least. And my wife kinda hates it LOL. I commented about the auto correct in the 3000 Micro live launch video. They are looking into it. It would be amazing if SVS were able to partner with REW to do what ELAC is doing with their auto correct, except MUCH MUCH better! Can you say “exclusive” partners???? That would be great!

I am so confused as to how to adjust this parametric eq within the app, how do I even begin?
Where do I start, how can I learn what settings are good, why they are good how to figure out what my subs are doing and how to correct them?
what am I looking for? in terms of roll offs spikes, dips etc.. I want to learn more about how the eq can help and be effective as a tool in balancing my subs.

Go to volume level and make sure your sub is set at 0 not at -12. Then on the svs app you can bump up the volume to -9 or -8. The louder you play thw harder it will hit.

Ran into this with my SVS SB16. Best was around -4 to -6 on TRIM/ LEVEL within AVR. Next go to your SVS APP and go into PARAMETRIC EQ. The best bass I had was with EQ set at FREQ:60, BOOST: 3db, Q FACTOR: 1.3 (slope). Start with this and adjust the BOOST up or down to your likings. This gave me what I was missing after 3 months of use. Hopefully this helps!!

    • @1337sim1
      @1337sim1 Год назад +1

To measure, yes. All you need is a microphone (ex. Umik1) and software (ex. Room EQ Wizard)
If you want to EQ, you need whatever device that can run EQ (subwoofer, AVR, miniDSP, etc.).

You should take more measurements from different locations then correct the average plot. The big issue is with dips caused by room modes. You'll need dual subs and time control to correct a room mode.
A better option is to get a processor with Dirac Live Bass control with dual subs.

    • @HomeTheaterGamer

I'd definitely recommend using REW to fine tune each sub individually, then turn them both on and make sure they are in phase with each other. That will go a long way in getting the most out of your subs.

It’s easier to understand when someone knows what that all means and what the graph means as well. I am totally ignorant when it comes to sub correction. Also how to even use the REW. Is there a simple to understand video that explains the how’s and what is of it all. I understand that REW is an app , but it’s rocket science to me at this time. 😢 I’m sure those that speak subwoofer talk can easily relate to you , but I didn’t understand a thing , not your fault, just my need for some subwoofer knowledge..🫣
