One of those voices singing that backup is Linda Ronstadt, yeah, that one. She's not in the video, but credited on the album. if you watch that again you'll see the restaurant changes, the cars change and seemingly we are sent back in time. The dancers are younger, representing the younger pair of lovers, seemingly a younger Neil and Pegi.

Such a beautiful song, delivered in a spectacular way. The acoustic guitar, piano and banjo goes back to the basics of Neil. And of course, the harmonica. One of his bests. Great reaction. Glad you love Neil, a lot of Canadians do. 🎶🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦

It was extremely busy, and this soft spoken guy comes up to the waitress station and starts ordering drinks from me slowly one at a time, lol, I said you need to be quicker than that, it was Neil he smiled and kept ordering slowly, lol.

I’ve heard many musicians say that Neil Young has A larger catalog sent anyone else. Not only did he play guitar and play harmonica at the same time. He also did the same thing with the piano and harmonica. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame twice, once as a solo artist and also with Buffalo Springfield from the 60s. He was not included with Crosby, Stills & Nash when they were inducted, even though he performed on many albums and life concerts with them. If he had been, then he would only be the second person besides Eric Clapton to be inducted three times into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame

    👋 from 🇨🇦.
Neil Young. You two have no idea. I have 78 Neil Young recordings. One of Neil's most powerful songs is, The Needle and the Damage Done, from the Harvest Album which Neil spontaneously decided to record songs he had been playing while on tour.
Neil founded another band called Crazy Horse before this time and this song was written about one of the Crazy Horse Band Members. Neil's akso the Godfather of "Grunge", and for most of the last decade he's been touring and recording with a band called, The Promise of the Real, which was formed by two of Willy Nelson's sons. They said they had to learn 125 songs by Neil, and be ready to play them live; in no particular order. He's on tour with The Promise of the Real right now I think.
Lots of Neil Young songs to pick from. Enjoy!
Lots of Nanaimo Bar Joy and Happiness from 🇨🇦🎶✌🥁🎸😎👀

Absolutely love the setting of the Mountain House. I used to go there and absolutely soak up the vibe. The gentleman with the broom was the GM of the restaurant at that time. Neil's music is timeless and that band, in particular, was loaded with talent, including the studio backup singers, Larry Cragg, Linda Ronstadt, and the lovely, Nicolette Larson. This song always brings me back to that time, living in Northern California, that amazing drive from San Mateo to Half Moon Bay and the Mountain Hose nestled at the top of that ridge. Beautiful!

It was actually the Closing Ceremonies of the Vancouver Games (2010) that Neil played "Long May You Run". The Calgary Games (1988) had Ian Tyson and Gordon Lightfoot doing a duet of "Four Strong Winds" and "Alberta Bound" during the Opening Ceremonies. k.d. lang performed at the Closing Ceremonies of the Calgary Games.

Amber, the drummer was Kenny Buttrey, a seasoned Nashville musician who also played with Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Gordon Lightfoot and a long list of other artists. He was part of Neil's Stray Gators backup band, so you would have heard him on Heart of Gold and Old Man as well. He died of cancer in 2004 at the age of 59.

Amber you would love listening to Neil Young sing “4 Strong Winds” At the Farm Aid concert, live at Farm Aid.
He plays the harmonica and is joined by another person who also plays the harmonica and together it sounds so beautiful. Willie Nelson also joins them on his guitar.

Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain," about the loss of youth, is a good early one, which his friend and fellow Canadian, Joni Mitchell, responded to by writing "The Circle Game."

I thought of Neil Young as a grumpy, eccentric genius until I found out about his personal struggles with physical diseases all his life. I have nothing but respect and awe for his talent and accomplishments and in spite of the tragedy of his sons CB.

This is such a beautiful song. His voice is mesmerizing. Linda Ronstadt once described it as “his eerie, prairie-wind howl of a voice-a boy soprano fuel-injected with testosterone”! What a great description of the gorgeous sound that comes from this man’s soul. 🌺✌️

My sweetheart and I had been together 20 years, when the year after they legalized marriage for us we were at a dinner party at a friend's house and this song came on (which I had always loved) and, I don't know what got into me (the full moon?), but I dropped to my knee and popped the question. I am still a sucker for the harder stuff (I'll argue til I die that Neil's one-note guitar solo in Cinnamon Girl is sheer playful brilliance,) but some of the softer stuff like this and Sugar Mountain do something lovely to my heart.

The title track from the album of the same name, Harvest Moon is kind of an unofficial sequel to Young's 1972's album Harvest. The two albums share many of the same guest musicians. The album Harvest Moon went Gold in January of 1993, Platinum in February of 1993, and multi-platinum in 1997.
In keeping with the rural motif of this song, let us not forget that Neil Young has also been an outspoken advocate for environmental issues and small farmers, as demonstrated by his having co-founded Farm Aid, the benefit concert, in 1985.
The moon is a big deal to Neil Young. It shows up in 28 of his songs, and he uses it to guide him. Industry folks know that he is more likely to take on a project if it coincides with a full moon. In a 2005 interview with Harp, he explained: "Before there was organized religion, there was the moon. The Indians knew about the moon. Pagans followed the moon. I've followed it for as long as I can remember, and that's just my religion. I'm not a practicing anything, I don't have a book that I have to read. It can be dangerous working in a full moon atmosphere, because if there are things that are going to go wrong, they can really go wrong. But that's great, especially for rock 'n' roll."

That "sweeping sound" is an old Jazz technique drummers do on the snare drum by using brushes instead of drum sticks. There is a quick shot of the snare drum and brushes near the beginning of the video doing this techniques. The drummer is Kenny Buttrey.

He used to pit on two shows a year at Shoreline amphitheater in Mt View Ca every year. The Bridge School benefits, all day which legends show up to do a set, Bob Dylan, Ben Harper, Tracy Chapman, Billy Idol, but it was when Neil would come out and turn his back to 23,000 fans and play to the 12 special needs children from the Bridge School… he would have us all in tears. I was an Usher there from 1996-2001

Both me and my wife were brought up on R&B: the boy and girl groups; Motown; doo wop. We're both in our 70s. I only just heard, for the first time, this song a week ago. I love this song; she doesn't care for it. She won't open her heart and mind to other genres; that's sad. I think this is probably up there with the finest of this type of genre. You rock, Neil! I'm learning this one on guitar and piano. That's how much I fell in love with this song.
