Want to know what would be a load of fun, watching Diane (you) watch the video from Neil's "Live Rust" movie of the song "Sedan Delivery". The contrast in styles would blow her mind.
Neil Young is eclectic. He can go from a song like this, to full on rock and roll with songs like "Like a Hurricane" or "Cortez the Killer". My favorite Neil concert was in Athens, Ga. in the early 80's. Over an hour of acoustic Neil, followed by an hour and a half of Neil with his band "Crazy Horse".
It's been 50 years since I was young and, honestly, I wouldn't want to do it again. But watching your sweet reactions, Diane, brings back some of the tender memories of youth, and a hint of the promise of that time. Variably fulfilled.
Thank you for reacting to one of our Canadian legends, even though he moved to the States and now has US citizenship as well, I believe. When you react to "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold" look for the live versions from 1971 and watch the long version with the introductions by Neil as it shows a lot of his personality. "Helpless", "The Needle And The Damage Done", "Down By The River", "Cinnamon Girl", and "After The Goldrush" are just some of his songs you should get to one day. As for Joni Mitchell? Absolutely! Can't go wrong with either of these Canuck mega stars!!
Neil Young is a living legend. I couldn't possibly put into words how much this artist has affected my life. It just blows my mind when someone first listens to him. I can't imagine ...thats why I like these reactions. The man has been putting out quality music for over half a century! "Old Man","The Needle and the Damage Done", "Ohio", "Heart of Gold", I could go on all day!
Happy Monday Diane! Great choice for an artist to react and listen to. Neil Young is an amazing artist. There's a song of his on the soundtrack of the film "Philadelphia" that he did which was the title track. His voice is very soothing. Enjoy your week Diane! All the best to you always. 👋😎🙏
A gorgeous love song! It was played at our wedding, and i loved hearing it again. It's not typical of his style, which ranges from introspective acoustic songs through to some of the loudest, grungiest rock you ever heard. Watch him live for best effect. Down By The River or Like a Hurricane. Also, catch the Who live - they were amazing in their prime. Try Young Man Blues, live at the Isle of Wight!
First time I heard this song, the image of a warm fall evening, at dusk with a cold one in one hand, a pretty girl in the other, was forever etched into my mind and heart.
Great video. This is my 70 yr old fathers favorite singer and I used to HATE when he played it, now that I'm way older I really appreciate the musicianship and the nostalgia ND brings me of my childhood.
If there is a more complete, more expressive, more passionate (in a low key way) vocalsation, of what it is for a man to love a woman, I've not heard it - such a GREAT song, so much LOVE... Wow!
Thank you Diane for this video! That's one of my favorite Neil Young songs. My Chihuahua, Brutis has a special dance for that song. I bet Chewie has a special dance too! I hope you and Chewie have happy dreams tonight ❤
Mr Young does have a remarkably diverse discography, well worth you, or others, investigating in your own time. I saw him in Auckland, somewhere in the eighties.
I just found you watching your first encounters with Mr. Rogers' work on Mr.Rogers Neighborhood. And now I see you are listening to different music. I have just subscribed. I enjoy your observations and comentary.
For a time Neil Young was part of the folk group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Beautiful harmonies. Would love for you to react to their hit “Teach Your Children.”
Love Neil Young. Favorite song of his is Heart of Gold. Diane, you should check out that song. Also check out Crosby, Stills Nash. Neil Young palyed with them too sometimes.(CSNY) Love the song Ohio. Its about the Kent State University shooting in the early 1970s
Good morning Diane really enjoy your videos this one with Neil Diamond. He’s the pride and joy of Canada as Canadians love him he just sold his entire music library to Sony music for a couple hundred million dollars. He said he wanted to enjoy the money with his family while he was still on the planet, he’s very green and pro earth
Hi Diane, merry Monday! Neil Young goes back a long time. He was part of the 60s group Crosby Stills Nash and Young. I saw him in concert back in 1990 in Dallas at the Bronco Bowl. He was doing the Rust Never Sleeps tour. It was a great show. He came out for the 1st part of it by himself with an assortment of acoustic guitars, sat down and did a long set covering many of songs he did as part of CSN&Y, as well as a lot of his solo work. Then after a brief intermission, he returned with his backing band Crazy Horse. The 2nd half of the show was electric, and he really rocked out! Lots of high energy stuff with distortion and effects. And he played for a long time, too! Another group you should react to is The Pretenders. Check out the song Just the Night in My Veins, it's really good from a female perspective. Give Chewie a hug, I love you and have a great week!
I know Neil Young for His song Keep on Rockin in the Free World. That's were I have heard his name. Try listening that song too its a good also. I am glad, I heard Harvest Moon really like that song.
Once upon a time I was at a Cajun Boucherie, just chilling when I ran up with Neil Young and John Fogerty roaming around and having a great time. Black Oak Arkansas was on stage and Jim Dandy sang "Jim Dandy (To The Rescue)" before Ruby Star did a cover of "Maybe I'm Amazed" that still tears me up. Neil seemed really happy and relaxed. The Bayou is an amazing place and John had a place there to chill at. No muss no fuss, just good times and no stars, just enjoying the moment.
Today is Noodle Rings Day. Pasta shaped in rings instead of noodles in dishes. Spaghetti O's are a classic. Lots of possibilities to make dishes. spaghetti made with ring pasta, ring pasta in a alfredo sauce, ring pasta salad with salad dressing, Ring pasta bake with some spaghetti sauce, chicken, and some cheese.
15 minutes away from where I am sitting right now, is the birth place of Neil Young... "There is a town in North Ontario, all of my changes were there" Omemee (O-me-me) Ontario, Canada... 😍
Wow I think I recommended this song some time ago 😇 How glad you enjoyed it! There is also the rock and roll side of Neil, which can get a bit weirder than this (his almost out-of-tune singing is not for everyone), but great too. Songs like "Powderfinger" or "Like a Hurricane". He also did a rocky version of "On Broadway", the song from All That Jazz. So many records, he's a teasure trove really. With Joni Mitchell -one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever- you can pick any song of her early album Blue, very much in the same vein as "Harvest Moon" but twenty years earlier. Try her early Seventies stuff before moving on to the later stuff, which is more jazzy and experimental.
Neil Young is a famous Canadian known around the from his work with David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash. In the early 90's I played Harvest Moon a lot as it count towards Canadian at the fm station where I was a broadcast personality. I am glad you liked the song, hope you and Chewie have a good week.
I would strongly suggest that he is famous for being Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, and his solo career. He was big before and after he joined CSN as PART-TIME member for only 2 years. He also moved to the US at the age of 21 and has lived there far longer than he ever lived in Canada and has taken out American citizenship. Notice the BIG prominently displayed AMERICAN flag? ;)
