Thanks Polo. If you want to hear Neil kick it up a notch try Rocking in the free world, which he plays with the guys from Pearl Jam, or Hey Hey My My, by him with Crazy Horse.
Neil Young has a very challenging catalog. Some country and folk. Some blues. Some rockabilly. Some hard rock. Some extremely loud hard rock. Some electronic music which is extremely odd to watch live. And he jumps back and forth between styles without warning. Example, the release before this was a live set called Weld and a separate live disc called Arc created out of feedback. So each of the following are, in my mind, fantastic, but very, very different. The Loner Down by the River Country Girl (Crosby Stills Nash & Young, but he just had them add vocals to the completed track) Tonight's the Night Like a Hurricane Lotta Love Hey Hey My My (Into the Black) (Watch the "Live Rust version to see his stage show as the original version was recorded live anyway. Warning: It's possibly his loudest song) From Hank to Hendrix (from Unplugged) Bonus: I Got ID by Pearl Jam with Neil on guitar, recorded while Pearl Jam was his backing band on Mirror Ball.
Dont know any other way to contact you. Try checking out the band Rush. Pick any song off their "moving Pictures" album. They are a canadian rock band.
Neal Young has been on my radar since the early 70’s. Some of the best concerts were him alone and playing an acoustic guitar. The tracks you have reviewed are among my favorites. You might want to look into After The Gold Rush. Thanks for all the great reviews you have done.
One of my oldest friends died last year. He was an artist who lived in a magical place off grid in the forest. When the harvest moon came out, he woke his partner and took her to dance to this in the field next to where they lived. They danced under the harvest moon. This song was played at his funeral in the beautiful field where he lived. and she recounted the story and swayed to the music with love and memories. it was one of the most tender moments I have experenced... and it was a full harvest moon that night ... I love this song ...and harvest moons are my favourtie.. Thank you for sharing x
I lost my dear wife died last Nov. this was one song that put voice to my love for her. We danced to this song. This song makes me cry, an I need to cry.
Neil Young fan here. In the music video that Neil did, this song is done by Neil with a band in what looks like a small rural bar and the people are slow dancing to the song. The music video tells a story. One of the parts I like best is a guy using a straw broom to sweep up the floor in time with the music, in my imagination it is the drummer, matching the sound of the brushes used on the snare drum in the band. Thanks for your reaction to your personal choice. It's great to see you discovering music that has stood the test of time. ruclips.net/video/n2MtEsrcTTs/видео.html
With his then wife Pegi dancing with a person playing a younger Neil and in a scene i think a waitress at the bar. And i believe the other backup singer with Linda
@@jimwilcox2964 Pegi was a waitress when she first met Neil. So it's them as a young couple and as an older one, still slow dancing together on this harvest moon.
High school …Neil Young . This man has an old soul . One of the greatest of our generation. This song in particular will wrap itself around your heart and soul.
Polo, man this takes me back. My good friend Jeff introduced me to Neil in college. He was such a big fan. Believe it or not he even did an electronica album Trans in the 80’s, kind of an homage to Kraftwerk. And he did great work with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Hard to believe how he could transition from a soft love song to driving electric rock. Thanks for the listen. 🖖🏼
Slow dance the best body communication two can have without muttering a word during the song. Love slow dancing with the love of my life anywhere, anytime. Thanks, Neil, for the slow dance😊
Glad you like Neil. He's got a voice people either love or hate, but if you love his voice, he has a crazy deep catalog to check out. Next I would recommend Cowgirl in the Sand or Helpless
Neil pulled off a neat trick with this. It makes you feel nostalgic, but not sad, which is a fine line. It's a remember to remember something good kind of nostalgia -- the best kind -- like crinkle fries. (-: ••• Winter! WONDERLAND!!!
Watch the official video. The backup vocals were were sung by two talented and knockout beautiful women. You'll see them several times in the video. Killer backups
There are a couple of very good videos of him in concert where it is just him, his guitar and his harmonica so you can see his superlative musicianship. Heart of Gold and Old Man done at the Harvest 50th Anniversary concert.
Long time Neil Young Fan....his sound was always his own, raw , bitter, and always real The Harvest song is sweet and so melodic!! T y Polo Enjoy the journey , been a fan since CSNY lol
This song means so much to me. I lost my husband nearly 7 years ago but I remember us dancing to this song. Just in our house, not necessarily at a club. This song always makes me think of the man who was my best friend. ❤❤❤
Hello from Canada 🍁. I have 78 albums in my itunes with Neil Young on them. If you keep digging into his musical archive, you might find some surprises 🎉🕊🎶❄️...❄️.....🫴
Oh! Isn't it just lovely? Slow danced to this last weekend while celebrating my birthday. The Brothers Comatose do a sweet version too - well worth a listen.
You’re right this entirely transports the listener, suddenly in the countryside on a beautiful evening there’s a honkytonk or barn dance somewhere 😁 His love songs are realistic, simple, and sooo beautiful - like his voice.
We have so many sing-aloud road trip memories of this whole album from back in the day from a cassette tape. Neil Young's music from back then is the best kind of time machine.
That subtle swishing sound is a man with a broom sweeping it across the floor. In the video of this song we see that. Neil takes his wife in his arms & they slow dance. He heard the guy sweeping & put it in the song.
This song is in my heart forever; I think it is Neil Young’s most beautiful song. It’s on my funeral list. That broom sweep sound throughout? This was his 90’s work. Wonderful. As others have said, this entire album is great. For Neil’s hardest rocking music, please react to “Cinnamon Girl” and “Down By The River” 🔥
I am a huge Neil Young's fan, been listening to him for years . I remember hearing this in a David Swimmer's Movie and was blown away Straight the moment it came on . Just saw him play San Diego 2 days ago. Incredible .

You just have to react to some of Neil's rock songs - like Southern Man, Rocking in the Free World, My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue), Cowgirl in the Sand... he's seriously amazing... and Heart of Gold - beautiful tune.
Linda Ronstadt does backing vocals on this song. beautiful singer and voice. she had hits in the 70's and 80's of pop, rock, and even went to her roots w a beautiful mariachi album. there is also the concert/doc "Heart of Gold" w Neil and his band performing this album and EmmyLou Harris is doing backing vocals on that. she is another great singer in the same Neil Young wheelhouse.
I would love it if you’d react to Neil Young and Four Strong Winds That Blow Lonely. I really think you’d like it too . I have listened to every song you react to. You actually do reactions the way it should be done. Most reactors either like or don’t like a song with no given reason as to why or break it down as to what is good or not good about a song. Linda Ronstadt on backup vocals! This whole album is great!🖖🏼

Neil uses an actual broom that brushes along a pad to create that sound. He used it when I saw him live.
Shout out to Dale Crover from the Melvins playing a young Neil on the dance floor 🤘 Neil forever and always. So beautiful 💙
You answered his question of slow dancing to this song!!!
Neil Young. “Heart of Gold”
Any time my late wife and I herd this we always got up and immediately started to slow dance ❤RIP Cecilia
Sorry about your loss
Yes, perfect slow-dancing in the living room song ❤
That is a beautiful memory. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you for sharing that with us. I hope your memories bring you joy.

Another one Heart of Gold
Cinnamon Girl
Goose bumps every time I hear this song. Neil is a genius.

There's a lot more Neil that is A+ material...a lot more. I love your thoughtful and articulate reactions. You've got a way with words.

As a fellow Canadian all I can say is we LOVE him , a national treasure for sure . I saw him live in Toronto and man he was awesome . Pure talent .
He also wrote some harder songs, “cinnamon girl” as an example. Love Neil Young.

I play this at nearly every gig I play and older couples always end up slow dancing. It heals my soul.
