Correction: It's not a traditional CVT but has planetary gears. Toyota calls it an e-CVT.
Why on earth would Toyota stick that giant orange cable there and make the entire spare tire well unusable?

Every Corolla Cross should be an AWD Hybrid.
Sure should! Elon Musk should take note. 100% EVs are a scam. Why do we want to plug into a hydro grid to draw energy from it? Makes zero sense. All hybrids should be self replenishing.
Nothing wrong with a na fwd. simple, affordable and good enough for the average folk.
I bought one just over a month ago. Mine is a twin of yours, same trim and same color. I love the color, easy to pick out in a parking lot and it looks awesome in the sunlight and I was sick of black and grey cars. I agree with everything in your review, you just start it and it goes. Great mpg, easy to drive, I can haul things when I need. Could be a little quieter. But overall just solid

@@krecikowi I originally contacted the dealership back around the end of July about a red one they had on their web site but that was already sold. They told me the next one in was the acidic blast and it would be in first week of November. I put a deposit down then out of the blue they called me at the end of September and said they had it already. Picked it up September 30 so about 2 month wait.
I wanted yellow but they will mist likely never get it, waiting 7 months now 🙄
How is HWY noise?
Rav 4 is now bigger than the pre 3rd row seats gen highlander. Corolla Cross is not that much smaller than that 1st gen highlander. Mpg obviously far better too.
Toyota has always shipped new cars with noisy tires.

Leg room in the Corolla Cross is better than Rav 4 (for us taller folks). I was quite comfortable sitting in the Cross. The Rav would probably be uncomfortable on longer trips.
Unfortunately the Corolla Cross legroom in the *back* is very subpar, one of the lowest in its segment

Shame Toyota won't bring the Corolla station wagon hybrid to North America - the Cross seems like another SUV that will sell a ton but is just... tall for the sake of being tall.
That’s a mystery for me. Carmakers will tell you station wagons won’t sell in North America. But then, you take a glance at Subie’s sales for the Outback in Québec, Colorado and New England and the numbers are insanely high. I don’t get the reasoning.
When VW was selling the Golf stationwagon, they were everywhere in Québec. No matter the options, Alltracks like regular ones.

We love this car and chose it over the RAV4!
For me I would get the cross over rav4. I live in Queens, NYC and have to park on the street. The smaller cross is easier to park and drive thru double parking cars, yet provide me decent space and AWD to run over snow in the winter. Plus it is a lot less popular than the Rav4 in NYC, so it is a less likely target for Grand theft auto.

Honestly, you could get an RAV4 at this price point. It will give you more room and better MPG.
RAV4 hybrid in today's market I would definitely say is a few grand more, if you live somewhere where parking is tight I can see the appeal In this 100%
rav4 gets better mpg? 45 CC vs 41 city r4, plus hp/ton they are identical
@@kyrosmike I wanted to correct it but realizing the difference is 1 mpg, it is still worth it to get RAV4. Also, why are you only calculating city and not the highway?
@@dexstrat9229 That's interesting because at my local dealer I can find plenty of RAV4 from all the trims but not a single corolla cross hybrid.
@@jerbsherb4391while general availability of Rav4s is better than the Cross, almost all allocated/on-lot Rav4 hybrids are 35k+... Whenever a Cross hybrid comes up in my area it's high 20k-low 30k

After watching you drive, i decided it's not for, you made me feel car sick and that's never happened before, also hearing you say it has body roll together with the loud noise from the engine/transmission, it's positively terrible

It's a compelling offer from Toyota, but there's one little thing: prices. In Canada, they are pretty close to the RAV4 hybrid. 38 701$ for the base RAV4 hybrid, 36 936$ for the base Corolla Cross. It's less than 2000$CAN. AND...interest rates are higher on the Corolla Cross. So...
Knowing how the RAV4 has insane resale value, I struggle to find a reason why you'd grab a Corolla Cross instead of a RAV4, that's more practical and offers the "bank of Toyota". With the actual state of the economy, knowing your vehicle can always be used as an insurance policy to face prices hikes is kind of the thing to do.
Now, can you put your hands on a brand new RAV4 hybrid? Patience is required. But it's kind of the same with the Corolla Cross hybrid anyway.
So really, I can't understand why you'd go for the base Corolla Cross when you can have the RAV4.
One reason I can think of is size. I sat in the RAV4 and it just felt too big. Front visibility is not great.
Ended up getting the CX-5 instead for the family, much better sized than the RAV4, but I find that even smaller cars like the Corolla Cross, HRV, or especially Crosstrek to be much easier to handle around town.
rav4 will likley jump in price when the new redesign comes out in a year or two. Also the toyota cross comes with TSS 3.0 and rav4 only has the TSS2.5?
@@gilboman “Will likely” are the key words. As of right now, as we speak in October 2023, I struggle to understand why you’d pick this over a RAV4 hybrid. In Canada, I insist. I’ve read people might prefer this because of the handling or the ease to manoeuvre in cities. Ok, maybe, but you give up the insane resale value and the RAV practicality.
As for TSS, in a pinch, I pretty sure most people won’t notice a difference between 2.5 and 3.0.

Because it’s a Toyota and a Hybrid. Your VW will loose value like a mudslide in comparison. If you want a lease toy then don’t get a Toyota. Market speaks for itself. This is no different than a Tacoma going for the same money as an f150.
@@aslankarnuf what planet do you live on where a Toyota looses value in the same way a VW does. Toyotas have the highest resale value in the industry and that’s well known even by your grandma. Do 1 minute of research or ask your neighbor. There is nothing wrong with driving a VW but it should be criminal to tell someone the cost of ownership is the same over a 10 year span. This is why I said VW’s are lease toys. This particular trim of the Carolla cross is top of the line, which nobody buys. Go to any dealership and the only models they have sitting are top end trims.

McDonald’s is the biggest but is it the healthiest or cheapest? Your mindset is hilarious and sheep like. Through recent merging VW has become the largest recently, both have leapfrogged year over year. This was never a discussion about size but rather reliability.
