My Dad was a truck driver for 37 years. When I was a kid in the early 90s I went through this every winter vacation with him, and to me itwas just riding in the truck. Zero fear. Now, as an adult I wonder what went thru his mind as we always hit roads like this in an OLD Freightliner with some super dim headlights compared to today. But myself, and MILLIONS have all done it. Which makes me fear it at the same time and respect it. This is a boss vlog, stay safe out there!! Appreciate you!
This convinced me to do trucking. To me its basically getting paid to travel and I'll travel on roads with amazing scenery like this anyway. At the same time try to not to be stranded lol
Trucker Brown! Thank you for being positive and transparent with trucking. I have watched and and KB for awhile. I may face some upcoming trouble in my job. Your blogs give me hope that there are amazing opportunities in this beautiful country!
I was raised in Billings MT. I know you’re not on 212 but I know people who have bumper stickers that say “ I survived the 212”. It’s just a sketchy road that goes from Billings to red lodge. Haven’t been home in 5 years tho. Going home on the 29th to buy my first semi.
Trucker brown, I am not a trucker but I drive my pickup for work through Utah, Idaho, nevada, Oregon, etc. over time I have built up some supplies I recommend you acquire for safety. A ham radio, pre program with emergency frequencies you need for your areas. A Garmin gps that does not need service to work or communicate. Satellite gps with call and text capabilities. An extensive first aid and trauma kit, for yourself or other wrecks you may come across out there.. quick clot gauze, tourniquets, any and all tools you need for repairs. A weeks worth of food and water. Start there if you don’t already do these things. Bless you brother safe travels
Thank you so much for this video I'm moving from Fayetteville NC TO BILLINGS MT.. I lived in Nashville TN for years..so in a car/suv it's so different than in a Semi...
I'm sitting on my couch in the comfort of my heated house and my ass and teeth were clenched the entire time watching this. I can't begin to imagine having to actually drive through it.
Great Video TB Tell them Drive Safe. If it's Me and the Road I'm good, If it's Me and the Road and a 4 wheeler, I'm concerned, There's roads like this in N Y. Your volume seemed a little low. With the new electronics the drives disengage when they denote slippage. Old days your slipping it was direct you didn't back out you were going to be doing more than slipping. Down side you happen to get stuck in dock or other scenario you have problem rocking yourself free. You should try 12 from Missoula to Lewiston ID on 12 it's scenic also, It was first place I had to chain up, I only had single axle at the time. Keep up the good work your video is great.
Huuuuuge Kudos to you Trucker Brown!! Good job man. You handled that perfectly. Damn though, my anxiety went up watching this. Lol... Good stuff brother. Good stuff.
It almost feels like you are in some sort of space craft traveling through uncharted regions of the universe lol. You make great videos Mr. Brown. Keep hitting them out of the park. And get your ham radio license! It’s a 15$ test and you’re damn smart enough to pass if you study a little. Worldwide communications and you won’t need a huge kicker 🙂
I wouldn’t be scared more terrified. You are a brave cautious soul. Loved this video. It was like being there. This is the type of video that makes movies. Thank you!
Haven’t been on highway 12 in Montana but been on highway 287 & highway 93. Saw some Rams outside Kalispell but didn’t get close to the truck. Definitely got a lot of wildlife out there. I think Montana & Wyoming are the “last frontier” states in my opinion.
WHATS UP TB. HEY MAN !!!! THANKS FOR YOUR VEDIOS GREAT WORK ITS THE REAL DEAL GOOD FYI'S. IM LOOKING TO GET STARTED IN THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY SOON AND I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR MATERIAL AND ITS BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN WHAT TO EXPECT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
The scenery was beautiful and I love small town living and off the beaten path driving. Yet when I drive from Fayetteville NC TO BILLINGS MT I'm definitely keeping to the HIGHWAY 100%. ITS A 31 Hour drive...OMG 😲
I'm from Montana and you did a great job, I thought when you where dropping down into that fog it was going to freeze your window up it has happened to me quite a few times. When the wind is blowing like that you really got to be careful of snow drifts they will build up on the road really fast and suck you right into the ditch. I really don't think you could of done anything differently on that type of road.
Wow! That is very impressive!! I absolutely love Montana, and want to retire there, but I could not do that with that big rig in those conditions. No way!! God's country! Without a doubt, most beautiful state in the union!
I'm not crazy about back roads, but i feel ya on the old western settlements. It's fun to think that even though it's 2020, some things just don't change that much.
Badlands is a generic term. There are Badlands in North Dakota and South Dakota. As well in Montana, Oregon, Washington State, ect. It's also derived from the First Nations people's.
aint nothing like a good trip to general mills. and for everyone saying why he took the back roads the main interstate can add over 100 plus miles to this run. either way, the roads are icy especially up in great falls gotta take it slow
Hi sir...pls make a vedio for new drivers that how to drive in such type of weather specially about usage of engine brakes in such type of weather and terain
TB I live south of MT and you are TOTALLY right it is a beautiful bit of land. However that icy road is not the worst. There is a condition called "black ice", that condition just looks like it is just wet but NO IT IS NOT! It is pure ice! Snowy roads are bad but there is worse conditions out there. Edits: 1. The coldest days are usually the clear ones. 2. Bears are hibernating at this time of year... What you have to worry about is cougar and wolves. 3. I don't know what the rules are elsewhere but in Idaho the speed limit when your encountering bad weather is "go at the speed YOU deem safe..." You kept saying your slipping and sliding was too fast...
TB why did u switch from reefer to dry van? Same company RST? Great video! Love your new attitude and positive mindset, may I ask what was the genesis of this change we are seeing?
NICE VIDEO TRUCKER BROWN GLAD YOU LIVE TO TELL THE STORY. SO YOU DON'T USE YOUR JAKE BRAKES ON ICE, YOU PLAY TAG WITH THE BRAKES AND GO LIKE YOU KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO YOUR ASS WHIPPED WHEN YOU GET HOME🤔😱😂😂😂 AWAY CONTINUE TO BE SAFE OUT THERE 🚛 💨💨☮️
Hey TB. I like watching your vids, I was watching before I got my CDL. I find your vids to be educational and inspirational! However I fail to see the value in this video, other than proving yourself to be a bad ass trucker. You were risking your truck, Wilson's trailer, and a customer's freight. It's bad enough there are wrecks every day that causes insurance claims to be filed for lost freight. I would say, you put yourself, equipment and freight in a very high risk situation for absolutely no reason, most of that video was in the dark, so you were not enjoying the scenery all that much. Be careful dude, also be careful you don't entice new drivers to do something that risky.
I think that the video's value is in what he was saying as he drove along. TB has long said that you should only do what works for you, but that he runs in the mountains and snow when his loads require it of him. He wasn't saying that anyone else should. He was showing what happened during what happened during a small portion of a trip and discussed what and how he drove his truck during it.
Call my wife and I crazy, but we want to move over there, near Kalispell. A place called Columbia Falls. Those snow drifts are deadly, yet beautiful, and I think that's the lure of it. Just gorgeous. Be careful out there, my friend. Be safe, brother.
I started at 48, and I'm a female in intermodal... That's containers out of the railyard. There were a few 60 year olds getting their first CDL at Prime as a second career. Don't limit yourself.
You Bro... in life what’s for you won’t miss u.... I rather live 30 years of fun and adventure then 100years scared stuck in the corner.... I believe you rather live 100 years stuck in the corner😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Bro you are killing me. Loving this video man. I’m a truck driver too but never drive in MT. I’m staying calm😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Buddy, it’s SOOO BEAUTIFUL but I feel ya man. That’s a mess. Still going to move there in the near future. It’s calling me! “Truckers nightmare handbook” Bears and other wild animals. You are killing me. I feel just like you. Not going to sleep oit there in the backwoods of MT. 👍

I am retired now but I've driven donner pass several times in blizzard conditions. my heart goes out for you friend. Stay safe!
This convinced me to do trucking. To me its basically getting paid to travel and I'll travel on roads with amazing scenery like this anyway. At the same time try to not to be stranded lol
Man... please be careful out there. You’re a real one.
Trucker Brown! Thank you for being positive and transparent with trucking. I have watched and and KB for awhile. I may face some upcoming trouble in my job. Your blogs give me hope that there are amazing opportunities in this beautiful country!
In this situation CB radios help . Most locals have them both in cars and semi trucks because of the lack of cell phone service. Be safe .
“Grizzly bears... and mongooses... and lemurs” that was the best line in a long time 😁😁😁
It's videos like this that got me interested in following truckers on RUclips.
please click my icon and help your brother from a nother mother out! ive been posting REAL trucking videos 4 years
I was raised in Billings MT. I know you’re not on 212 but I know people who have bumper stickers that say “ I survived the 212”. It’s just a sketchy road that goes from Billings to red lodge. Haven’t been home in 5 years tho. Going home on the 29th to buy my first semi.

I like what you doing TB, great attitude bro keep cruising
Damn bro this made me almost fall asleep towards the last few minutes. That means I trust your driving
combination of bad weather elements make it much more deadly, good technique TB.
I’ll take any back road any day of the week versus any big city.
I'm from Montana and you did a great job, I thought when you where dropping down into that fog it was going to freeze your window up it has happened to me quite a few times. Do you use your jake brake or only foot brake? And if you use your foot brake only, do you ride it going down hill or slow press it?
Great video 🌬TB🚚👍
I am BASED in Montana. 2 things I’ve found extremely helpful. Go slow and stay on the black asphalt.
Wow! That is very impressive!! I absolutely love Montana, and want to retire there, but I could not do that with that big rig in those conditions. No way!! God's country! Without a doubt, most beautiful state in the union!
Lemurs, Bro, in Montana...damn! Don't drive a truck, but I like your down to earth advice.
More great content TB
"Besides the death, and dying a horrible cold death...its a beautiful place". 😂😂😂
I'm not crazy about back roads, but i feel ya on the old western settlements. It's fun to think that even though it's 2020, some things just don't change that much.
Don’t forget they got wolves and big ass grizzly bears 😂
Welcome to my neck of the woods.. I run natural gas back and forth between MT and ND
Awesome Footage‼️
What's a good speed or cruise speed for situations like this? Or what's a good gear to be in if you have a manual?
Where on Highway 12 was that? Beautiful area. I love winter road trips so would love to hit that road.
Lemurs in montana??💀💀🤣 your content is so entertaining bro. Keep it up!
I always thought the Bad Lands were in S. Dakota? 😂🤣
Badlands is a generic term. There are Badlands in North Dakota and South Dakota. As well in Montana, Oregon, Washington State, ect. It's also derived from the First Nations people's.
Excellent TB...

Is this possible with a automatic transmission??
Big Homie dats what he is driving
My bad bro. I was told auto's aren't good in situations like this.
Big Homie my opinion autos are better than manuals in this situation
I do it all the time in WY with a Auto
What's the most logical photos a truck driver could take on the roads ?
