Awesome work as always Jack. The videos have been amazing lately. As for the bees , the problem with boycotting almonds is that bees aren't only used in pollinating almonds. There's literally so many other foods that are pollinated by bees. And they're not wild bee populations. So they're bees that are used for pollination. So if someone wants to be consistent about avoiding almonds , they'll need to avoid all foods pollinated by bees. I don't know if it'll be possible to know about which product is pollinated by bees. I can't believe Piers keeps bringing up almonds from California. In Europe and UK, the almonds come from the Mediterranean countries like Italy and Spain. Same with avocados, the either come from Spain or Israel.
That may be the case for most almonds, but I actually bought some non-organic almonds on discount the other day, and I just checked the packaging - they're straight from California, even though where I live in the South of France we're quite close to almond orchards. So it, goes, I'll do better. But yeah, it's a common fallacy to say "oh, this crop comes from way across the globe" when it factually doesn't (a classic example being soy that supposedly comes from Brazil, even though pretty much all the vegan soy products here are made with french soy).
A great analysis and a hopeful conclusion. Sadly, I suspect that he is content being an ‘outrage machine’ for ratings and ergo, preserving his salary base. But being an ‘outrage machine’ will be his only legacy if he doesn’t reflect on the unhelpful nature of his behaviour. Already, after he interviewed Richard Dawkins, Dawkins summed up his character in a subsequent interview as ‘a fool.’
I think people like Piers Morgan might be self aware but its just his job to be as much of a "juicy content" producer as possible. Not to excuse his actions and I do think he lacks some self awareness but I feel like if you were in an interview with him on any subject he could play devil's advocate and make interesting content to watch cause that is what keeps people coming back. It's more fun to watch Piers Morgan dunk on vegans (or any group you disagree with) than to have to think about changing perspectives on a serious matter. It doesn't matter who you are...I do not think you can have a genuine conversation with him where he is actually trying to better understand your side...it's just not his business model
What is wrong with Piers Morgan? I wasn't going to like it because I think it is wrong to only look at the bad parts of people, but you also speak sincerely about the good that you found and acknowledge in him, and for that reason I like the video.
He is the only small mass media that is regularly giving vegans a platform even if in a derogatory way, his attacking of them is without reason and many of the public see him as being wrong even if the majority still support his stance. He is giving veganism a voice to a public we cannot reach in small activism events, the stay at homers.
You did a good job of softening me to that guy, because I couldn’t stand him, I thought he was the worst, but knowing that he has a cat, he cares about trophy hunting, he was even part of an animal advocacy group, that lets me know that at least he cares about something. I think he knows vegans are right, and I think he’s not willing to take that step himself so he demonizes us. It’s also always a good bit that plays well with his general audience. It’s controversy you can create easily. Trolling is better when it is done with people that truly care about something. Yeah I noticed the hypocrisy argument before as well, which is no argument, since we are talking ideas, we are not talking about myself. I could be a trophy hunter defending veganism, my hypocrisy wouldn’t make veganism wrong. I eat almonds and avocadoes (although my avocadoes come from Mexico). If he told me that, I’d be like, maybe next time get a vegan who doesn’t eat almonds and avocadoes, they exist, it can be done. I don’t care as much when it comes to insects, that’s where I draw the line, and if that makes me not vegan or a bad vegan so be it, but I thought we were talking about the pigs, the cows that are constantly confined and tortured, how can we improve their situation?
Interesting video. As a non vegan I wanted to throw out an idea that might explain why Piers asks the questions he does and challenges people... I wonder if Piers is trying to express the feelings and views that a huge number of people in society share but are too afraid to speak aloud.
I've stopped the video on 16:12 to comment. It 100% NOT True that Vegans don't acknowledge the Suffering in which they are involved. But when you talk on television you are trying to explain the Suffering that can be potentially Recognised by the Viewers - this Suffering of the vertebrate. We can not talk to people about bees, when they don't care about pigs and cows. And if I use my LIMITED Time on TV to talk about Bees... People will hardly be Vegans ever. But when there are enough Vegans - people that care for Animal Suffering - then it would be Very Easy to talk about Bees all day long. The only thing we can say NOW on TV is "Yes, it's problematic, we care about insects", but then go back to Vertebrates in (factory) farms!
I've always assumed it was down to his dislike of Heather Mills, especially her testimony during the phone hacking scandal. She owns Vbites I think, one of the manufacturers of vegan products in the UK.
If he wanted the truth, he would listen to vegan activists talking about what is happening in animal ag. It is not just that animals are being slaughtered, abused and *aped, but people are being hurt, too. He would really look into where the money is going, our taxes, who is lobbying. He likes to pretend he cares about people while simultaneously bragging to vegans how he ate a stake worth of 1500 pounds while people in his country are living in the streets, begging for food. During C19 500k pounds where given to dairy marketing campaign while charities had no food. USA is even worst. Also, both political sides are guilty of catering to animal ag. mafia. In USA, left side might be worse than right side of how much money they take for their campaigns from, you guessed it, animal ag. And nobody talks about this. Nobody cares. Even if you are a non-vegan you should care. Why is animal ag. so close to government? Why are people who make the rules for animal. ag owners of meat and dairy companies? Why are they paying to doctors to lie? Why do doctors lie? Why are they threatening people? Why are they putting false labels? Why did they forbid the free speech in the entire European Union, so we cannot call plant milk - milk? How can they change the definitions of words? Nobody should have that much power. It is a dictatorships. It is communistic capitalism or capitalistic communism. At the same time, people would call for free speech unless it is about veganism. Hypocrites everywhere.
Great video Jack. Such a coincidence because I have been indulging a newly found guilty pleasure for Piers Morgan in the light of his coverage around the Crisis in the middle east. He has interviewed interesting guests ( Notably Yuval Harari .. twice) and allowed them to fully articulate themselves and I have actually seen him push other guests hard in such a way that actually make me see him as a talented Journalist and debater. Prior to this I was only ever able to see him as a disingenuous host engaging in cheap tactics to ridicule his guests in a rude manner, which is clearly a big part of his persona but evidently not the only.
It's not that the vegans don't acknowledge the suffering caused by consuming almonds, it's that Piers is constantly trying to pin that on vegans, while almonds aren't exclusively consumed by vegans. Up to 2 million tons of almonds are produced in the US per year. You don't think they're consumed by only about 2 % of the population, do you?
Piers also has done many debates with trans activists. His style is confrontational, but I do think he is grounded in common sense MOST of the time, but not all of the time. The problem with the vegan discussion is that it isn't really clear what their goals are. Are they saying all humans should switch to a vegetarian diet? Are they saying it is OK to kill and eat animals as long as they are treated well while living, and are killed in a pain-free manner? I could agree with the latter idea. I stopped eating veal years ago because I couldn't stomach the idea that innocent little calves were being killed.
Piers Morgan said bees are exploited by fruit and vegetable producers after pesticides were used to kill all the insects…. And that was funny to vegans
Did the suffragette movements not benefit from thier controversial actions?, it won't change the minds of thier strong opponents, sure but it increases awareness and those discussions can sway the majority. Then as with the suffragettes once the message has spread change can happen either gradually or if an opportunity arises much faster.
Piers Morgan is religious. He's staunchly religious... and also a devout traditionalist. He was deeply hurt by his 'self-inflicted' attack ( ...and then subsequent firing ) on a 'famous American nobody'. It destroyed his faith in his own invulnerability and 'national treasure' status. A man that knows his own views on societal issues and culture have vanished, became redundant in his own lifetime. His moral outlook has been replaced by more progressive opinions. He seems ridiculous, because he knows he can't win... but nostalgia for his childhood, is now the only light in his eyes, not unlike a homesick boxer that keeps jabbing away at shadows he can't properly see.
I think piers and his guests on the vibrational level- even though on polar opposites, they’re on the same spectrum: sensationalist, attention seeking, shocking in some way. That’s why they’re fighting with each other. And yes insects are sentient - bees are, so why wouldn’t insects be?
We all know insects are exploited and killed in food production this could be improved with better farming practises as would happen in a vegan world. Other than that, as usually this is very good and I don’t say that because I dislike Morgan with a passion. Keep up the great work Jack! 😊
Have you been following DxE founder Wayne Hsiung’s trial in Sonoma County? He was found guilty yesterday. I guess having compassion and rescuing animals in dire need is a crime.
Interesting video, piers is just projecting out , he does not understand, that he is complicit in animal suffering himself. For what ever reason he does not want to change himself first. So he stays stuck in his confusion with himself. So he scapegoats vegans , people who are brave enough to admit that they were complicit with animal suffering, before going vegan. Also vegans do need to suffort vegan organic farming methods , which do exist now , many peaceful methods of land use are needed now , away from the horror of industrial farming , plant or animal.
"He's genuinely concerned with hypocrisy." No, he's not. He's concerned with hypocrisy by being hypocritical. Makes no sense. He does this dance for one reason. He gets paid millions to get his channel views. Nothing sophisticated or celebral. It comes down to money.
from beginning Jack is bringing amazing videos, which makes me think youtube doesn't promote quality content overall. Morgan will never invite you to his show, as no one will. we know why.
People in Piers Morgans role tend to want the interviewee to tentatively listen to his point of view, which has more creedence than theirs. He also as you say, interjects often, and must at all costs come out on top. He could never patiently listen to anyone. A bully really.
Debates against veganism are quite possibly the most anti-intellectual, fallacious, hypocritical ones. Piers is not an exception, he's another mindless part of the rule. Nowadays I recommend anonymous posters on the internet to troll anti-vegans, telling them it's fun. It is fun and easy, but seeing own arguments being repeated by someone else, noticing they're idiotic, coming up with logical counter-arguments and having them be shot down with fallacies, makes it easier to notice your own arguments were stupid.
hows about we all mind our own business? You eat whatever the hell is you people eat and others will eat what they wish and you dont get your panties in a twist?@@vidyagaems4063
Piers is an annoying grifter, but plenty of people also get outraged by hunting or abuse of pets - and also don't see the hypocrisy of continuing to eat animals. As Melanie Joy points out, eating meat and dairy, etc., is incredibly normalized in our culture. So, it really doesn't occur to people that it could be possibly be as wrong to eat a yogurt as to kick a cat. Plus of course, one of those acts isn't cruel in the moment, it's a hidden cruelty not being purposely inflicted. I would guess that there's also a kind of Anne Frank effect - it's easy to feel empathy and outrage for one poor defenseless kitty, but the scale of suffering and cruelty we inflict on farm animals is too much to take in. (Like the quote - I think supposedly by Stalin - that one man's death is a tragedy while a million deaths is a statistic.)
Piers every action has a price tag attached. Make a video with his every word attached to a large price tag and a cha-ching sound and you would be close to the truth about his worldview.
I too recognise the quandary of recognising that Piers Morgan is good in some ways, and bad in others. He's sometimes a very bad interviewer and also a hypocritic. He's also virtually a narcissist. Or, at the very least, his entire career and everything he's done has essentially been about advancing... Piers Morgan. (He's almost admitted this at various times.) However, Morgan is also useful in that he brings on interesting and, I would argue, extreme guests. He also discusses controversial subjects. Sometime he does this in a good way. Sometimes he does this in a bad way. (Some of his "arguments" against vegans and veganism are childish.) That said, no other mainstream-media figure I know (in the UK) is doing what he does. So perhaps we should separate Morgan the Flawed Man from what he's doing on his shows. We could ad hominen Morgan to death and *still* appreciate his interviews.
The only thing you need to know about a good diet can be learnt from observing how people have been eating around the world for thousands of years. Who has the least health problems and who has the longest lives etc But the diet should not be looked at in a vacuum. You need to look at the quality of the food, the quantity they eat, their lifestyles and environmental influences. As far as I'm concerned, vegans have a moral argument, but not really a health one. Unless you just eat fast food and never exercise etc And the moral argument also seems to have a level of cognitive dissonance. Because we all enjoy things, that is based on lots of people suffering around the word. We don't stop using smartphones and computers because the minerals for circuit boards are mined by modern-day slaves, including children. And because they are assembled by dirt poor people standing all day in factory assembly lines, which has "suicide nets" around them because they literally end up jumping to their death because that how much fun that work is. FYI - WE CAN live without smartphones and computers. But we choose not to, and block out the suffering involved in the creation of these things.

He is giving veganism a voice to a public we cannot reach in small activism events, the stay at homers.
very true. get good Morgan.
A better title would be "Is anything right about Piers Morgan?"
great video :)
He is the hypocrite he claims others to be. Projection.
Great video
I don’t care as much when it comes to insects, that’s where I draw the line, and if that makes me not vegan or a bad vegan so be it, but I thought we were talking about the pigs, the cows that are constantly confined and tortured, how can we improve their situation?
... Everything
Interesting video. As a non vegan I wanted to throw out an idea that might explain why Piers asks the questions he does and challenges people...
I wonder if Piers is trying to express the feelings and views that a huge number of people in society share but are too afraid to speak aloud.
you might be onto something, a huge number of people aren't prepared to listen to rational science led arguments.
Great in-depth analysis of the problematic vegan debates.

No why
Yes, it’s the cognitive dissonance! in my experience it seems that I get the most vegan flack from the ‘animal lovers’
You should go to his show!
Very impressive analysis. Thanks for posting this video.
A debate between Neil DGT & Piers would be interesting
Edit: should've watched first! 😅 I suppose they're hypocritical allies now
Excellent video as always Jack.
we need one for tyson as well!
Boundless opportunities to laugh at Clown Piers!! I wouldnt have been able to keep a straight face!!
Lol Piers Morgan was vegan before apparently. He was adamant in defending animals before!

You are like a vegan version of Nathaniel Drew! Keep it up!
I wonder who’s the hypocrite 🤔. Great vid BTW

I stopped eating veal years ago because I couldn't stomach the idea that innocent little calves were being killed.
not being flippant but look up the vegan society definition of veganism, it might help you understand.
He seems ridiculous, because he knows he can't win... but nostalgia for his childhood, is now the only light in his eyes,
not unlike a homesick boxer that keeps jabbing away at shadows he can't properly see.

nice video
I think piers and his guests on the vibrational level- even though on polar opposites, they’re on the same spectrum: sensationalist, attention seeking, shocking in some way. That’s why they’re fighting with each other. And yes insects are sentient - bees are, so why wouldn’t insects be?
What's the research suggesting that insects are likely sentient?
Great video!
They make decisions.
The almond bee argument is lame. Best wishes to all the vegan activists who take on Pierce MoronGan.
At the risk of being labeled a monster, I have to say that, bee meat burgers are absolutely delicious.
Hi😊
He is an ANGLO. He is one of the tools of the Anglo system. He is created for this job. Whatever he says is written for him. What do you expect?
"He's genuinely concerned with hypocrisy." No, he's not. He's concerned with hypocrisy by being hypocritical. Makes no sense. He does this dance for one reason. He gets paid millions to get his channel views. Nothing sophisticated or celebral. It comes down to money.

The problem with Piers, is his audience.
Nailed it.
Most probably
from beginning Jack is bringing amazing videos, which makes me think youtube doesn't promote quality content overall.
It is fun and easy, but seeing own arguments being repeated by someone else, noticing they're idiotic, coming up with logical counter-arguments and having them be shot down with fallacies, makes it easier to notice your own arguments were stupid.
you just described vegans

Everything about Piers is unproductive..
Juliette is the CEO of Viva just so you know 😉
Piers every action has a price tag attached.
Make a video with his every word attached to a large price tag and a cha-ching sound and you would be close to the truth about his worldview.
Not wrong! That and sheer conceited privilege.
If you mention some philosopher drawing a new line in abstinence for the planet by avoiding "going for runs", can you please elaborate?! Wtf
I got a Tyson chicken ad on this video. Fucking sickos 😊
He is raking a lot of views on the genocide ongoing in Palestine.
There is no genocide.
@@pacmanmcgavin7034 Are you watching the news? The UN has attempted to stop it as well.
The only thing you need to know about a good diet can be learnt from observing how people have been eating around the world for thousands of years.
Who has the least health problems and who has the longest lives etc
But the diet should not be looked at in a vacuum. You need to look at the quality of the food, the quantity they eat, their lifestyles and environmental influences.
As far as I'm concerned, vegans have a moral argument, but not really a health one. Unless you just eat fast food and never exercise etc
And the moral argument also seems to have a level of cognitive dissonance.
So many fallacys 😮
