Not sure where you read that CBD doses over 300mg can cause damage? Also, how can it be considered a high dose? Word on the street is that low doses are actually placebo and that the recommended dosages have been too low in the past. Whatever the case, if we pretend that 100mg is placebo. We can actually look back in history and see that people will defend and praise medicines that are years later proven to be totally inert. Public expectation seems to play a huge part in it!
