Suggestion is to take a red paint marker sharpie and put a red dot on all of your critical single pole breakers so you can quickly identify them when you need to switch to emergency power along with a red dot on the panel schedule on the door.
Good idea!
Excellent idea! I printed a chart that I tape inside my panel but this idea is better, I can add to use with my chart. Thanks!
Hi, Andrew! Mr. Thinker Tinkerer, you are a very creative man. See you in a few minutes.
See you then!
Nice setup
Thanks for watching!
You think of everything to make life so much easier. Thanks again for the great video.
I'm all about being more comfortable. I've lived through so many several day long power outages I don't want anymore. You safe with all the crazy weather you are having in your state?
I admire how knowledgeable and how clean all your projects look, you do a great job with details, just wanted to say awesome channel you have built!
Appreciate your support and watching.
I have installed server room size battery backups throughout the house, Internet/Tv ha their own. Fridge's and refrigerator has their own as well. Also have a 220 50Amp connected to the grid that sits in the closed. Great for FPL Crappy power grid and their rolling brownout outage. Also works as great surge protector.
Good idea, that'll probably save a lot of appliances if you're experiencing a bunch of surges.
Great video Andrew. I have a small suggestion. You should put emergency light in the pantry just in case power does go out or you do shut off the power a light comes on so you can see and you know just in case Tiffany needs to get in there when if you're not there. I like the guy suggestion about putting a red dot next to the breakers that you're going to need. Thank you for showing the installation that helps me out a lot.
We actually have flashlights staged in several parts of the house for this reason. We use to have emergency plug in the wall lights that would revert to battery power when the grid goes down.
Andrew, Another great educational video thank you. Catch ya later.
Thank you for watching
Electrical! :)))) Joking aside, love how you make everything clear and obvious. Stay well!
Yaaaaaayyyy
@@TKCLI think maybe the video mama watching it
Always love your setups, as useful as always! Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Great information, Andrew. I'm upgrading my emergency power, inspired by your projects, and I really like this setup! Thanks.
A lot more backup power ideas coming. I'm digging the ability to have something indoors, no running out in the rain to fire up the generator. Unless you get one of those fancy self starting models.
@@TKCL Excited to see what's coming. I hear you on running out in a storm for power!
I'm so sorry I didn't realize that Thank you so much
No worries, thanks for watching
Awesome video thanks for the information. You got me thinking about this when I get a house.
Thank you for watching
Another great review Andrew and interesting. Thank you!! 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Thank you for watching
Great video as always .
Thank you for watching
I'm glad you showed that both legs can be powered up at the same time for 120v loads. I like having the option to use a 240V generator for large loads like my well pump and water heater in the day and switch to a 120v generator/power station at night. I wired up a 50A inlet using the same adapter, but had to shave off some of the black locking ring to insert it fully and twist into place on my inlet.(looks like your inlet is actually designed to use the lock ring.)
Yes mine is designed for the threaded ring and it fits great. Thanks for watching!
Well Done!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. It really helped with my install
Glad you enjoyed it
Very well explained...TY!
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video. Love the content. 🤠
Thank you for watching
Nice video, thanks. Just a note for people who are not very familiar with home wiring. He refers to the two legs in the panel as "phases." It is commonly done, even by electricians, but it causes some confusion. This entire system is single phase, with two 120 volt legs. 3 phase power is restricted to industrial use, at least in the US.
Correct due to the transformer tap and type. Very hard to break the terminology.
Single Phase is also refered to as SPLIT phase. 180 Deg apart as 3 Phase is 120 Deg apart.
Getting the EcoFlow generator has really changed your opinion on going solar. I can see why your opinion has changed with all of the controls needed for solar contained in your backup power station. I have learned so much from your videos. You even made the journey enjoyable. Thanks! I laugh WITH you on destroying your ice bill. going from spending around sixty to seventy bucks on ice for an off shore boat trip to making ice for free. Not to mention you get more time to spend with your lovely bride on the boat instead of spending the time driving into town to get that expensive ice (and expensive snacks)!
This solar has been fun, it's about to really kick up a notch
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Nice setup, congratulations on picking ecoflow, I’m convinced they are one of the few serious suppliers of these type of devices since they also offer an actual generator that will recharge your battery and is designed to work hand in hand with it. Would be great to see you test on in the future. Not sure if there is a legit way to inexpensively do it but would be nice to add a few dedicated lights above the panel, one tied to the line side the other tied to your panel. They would provide dedicated lighting while switching at the panel and provide a status of the connected power sources.
IE. Notification of line side outage or restoration. You might also consider adding a dedicated plug for recharging your battery bank. Possibly include an interconnect switch to that outlet and swing your generator line from outside to it.
I would love to get my hands on that smart generator. A lot more content coming!
Powerfull video... 🙂
No, electrifying! 😬
@@TKCL Shocking response... 🙂
Put the oil in a little gas started on the first pull a little noisy but not bad !!
Hi i loved this video i am currently doing the same thing exactly so what I need from you is the part numbers to the chords you have so I know I'll have the right ones
All links are in the video description, thanks.
Very cool setup for the indoor power source. What about using one of the other outlets on the eco to power the other hot leg. Instead of the adapter?
You get limited output from the receptacles. You only get full output from the RV plug on the unit.
I looked through the comments but didn't see anything. Since you already have an interlock kit, can't you just install another breaker for your outside unit, and use the existing interlock to isolate grid power, then you could use whichever inlet box you wanted, instead of having to remove the panel and replace wiring when needed? Thanks for the video's, always enjoy watching.
No because the interlock kit is designed to work in one specific location on the panel. If I add another breaker in a different location I'm breaking code and could technically backfeed the grid because the main 200 amp break can still be in the on position.
What I meant was, use your interlock to enable whichever inlet it is feeding, that way grid power is disabled. Then you could use either inlet (gen or battery). Yes I'm sure it's not code, but the grid would still be isolated, allowing you to use whichever inlet you wanted. If you ever sold your place, just remove the inlet not connected to the interlock. Or your very handy and make a piece of metal that is tied to the interlock and both breakers?
Very good video. I have a gas generator hooked up to my inside panel w/interlock. I also have a Eco Flow Delta pro. In an extended outage I will run the gas gen during the day and the Delta Pro at night. It would be nice if I could switch between an inlet box for the gas gen outside to a inlet box inside. Is there such a scenario. Currently my inside Delta at night plan is to run extension cord hookup to vitals. Looking for an easier backup scenario to not run cords. Thank you.
You can run an inlet box on the outside to another breaker spot. The problem is that does not allow you to install an interlock, thus goes against code. It's a difficult scenario to remedy. The only option would be to run a sub panel to your generator interlock breaker and feed the sub panel with both indoor and outdoor inlet boxes.
👍👍
Nasty storms this afternoon
Yes there was, also on Friday too.
@The Kelley's Country Life we had a tornado up north of I-10. A limb fell on a car causing a fatality. Roads were a mess
Sorry to hear that, what area?

We got a tornado warning Friday, seen that storm come through around I10. It's the season for them.

Question. I want to install a 50amp inlet box on the outside wall of my garage and then place a pass through wire from outside inlet box to another one directly on other side of wall inside the garage. All I’m gonna use it for is to plug a gas generator into the outside outlet and then plug a wire from inside wall outlet so I can plug that into my Delta Pro Ultra. This way I can keep my garage door closed and be able to charge my Delta Pro Ultra batteries from the outside gas generator.
Will I need to run a ground wire to ground somehow since neither 50amp inlet boxes will be connected to any of my electrical panels in my home. Again all it will be is 2-50amp inlet boxes with a 6/3 wire spliced from one to the other. Hope this makes sense.
Great video, I'm having an Electrician install my interlock plate and a 30A inlet box. I now see that a 510A box will be ideal for future upgrades. Question; if your using a 50A breaker how would that be protection for the EchoFlow Delta pros sense they are 30A protected. The 50A breaker wouldn't trip at a 30A overage. Please explain this for I'm at a loss.
The proper thing to do is match to your machines. Put a 30 amp breaker in, even if on a 50 amp plug and wire. It's OK to downsize breakers for wire and inlet boxes, never upgrade breakers larger than the wire can handle.
Can you do this but have the inlet recessed in the wall so it's not sticking out of the wall? Thinking of doing something like that for my home. Thanks!
You'd have to get creative, I've never seen an offering like that, but you could trim the box out.
The two hot legs in a 120 -240 volt panel are not separate phases they are both the same phase and it is known as a split phase they are just referred to as legs.
Yes I know, it's split phase. But often referred to as independent phases, it's a bad habit.
Cost of your Ecoflow?
That one was sponsored to me for making videos.
Can you still solar charge the battery while it’s in the house?
Not currently as my panels are at the shop. We will be taking care of that soon.
Can a 30 amp inlet box with a 30 amp circuit breaker service both legs?
Yes a 30 amp generator inlet box is also setup for 240 volts.
So I am kinda in a mess. Can anyone help! I am doing this same setup and I have a green screw in my panel box that houses all my breakers its in the garage. I also have a main breaker punchout but no main breaker. My main breaker is outside the garage in the meter box. I can add a main breaker in my garage panel, but wouldnt means if first disconnect be at the meter box outside of the garage. I was seeing where people said you will have to bond neutrals and grounds at means of first connect via using a rod that connects them both at the meter. But it says after that neutrals and grounds should be seperated in the breaker panel. So how in thr hell do I do this generator set up then. I already have all the parts drilled a whole to run wire from the 50amp inlet 3ft below my garage breaker panel which I thought was my main but apparently outside below the meter is the 200amp main breaker.
The motor that I have in the machine it's 20 amp. 240 bolts single face I know you're the one who can do I see all your videos Yes give me a comment please. Thank you
If you are wanting to run a 240 volt device on a 120 volt generator you cant buy what's called and step up voltage converter on Amazon. However if your motor truly pulls 20 amps at 240 volts that's going to be a problem for this device. It's rated at 30 amps 120 for a single unit. A 20 amp 240 volt device is 40 amps 120.
@@TKCL My motor is 230 volt 19.5 amps and I want to buy a 6000 6000 w. Generator you think that works?
If you get one that's 240 volts it should provide enough amperage to get that motor going.
@@TKCL okay thanks for the information
Let's say you have a 120 volt generator. Is it possible to use it to power a 240 volt appliance, like a stove, drier, or water heater? I would think it would have reduced abilities of heating. Have you ever tried this or know what will happen?
Appliances with electronics could potentially be damaged. Not to mention it isn't safe, assuming the appliance tried to run you would essentially be doubling your amperage since voltage was halved. Not good for the wiring, breaker or the electronics. I highly recommend you don't do it.
Hi what kind of cable did you use in wall?
10/3 romex for 30 amp service
@@TKCLthanks for the reply, I’ve bought the exact box and accessories linked in your video! What did you use to secure the box to the drywall?
@@TKCLalso does your ground go in (WITH) the green wire, if your going to ground on a bus bar? I’m using a secondary panel. So my neutral isn’t bonded with ground.
Hello, my name is Cooper. I have a question. Where exactly you live? I live in California and I want to do a little connection my generator to my scare fire machine
I live in Florida
The panel should be left loose in the rails and stiles.
Yes it probably should, I'm definitely no cabinet maker.
