Just got back from a week long stay at the Hilton and my wife and I had a blast. We loved the friendly, efficient service at this resort. Our room was an ocean front, swim-up suite. It was actually right next door to the swim-up bar. Kinda noisy, but it was convenient just stepping out on to the patio, dropping into the pool and wading up to the bar to get a drink. We got to meet our fellow neighbors and had fun chatting and drinking shots. This video was instrumental in cementing our decision to stay here. Thank you James!

The layout of your room and the lobby honestly made my jaw drop. Both were gorgeous and unique: especially in how neither looked rectangular and with the room the bed was positioned at a sort of diagonal angle: which on paper sounds quite awkward but they truly nailed the feng shui with the synergy between that, the hot tub and the couch. 🙂
And that lobby.................wow. To me it kind of felt as much like a commune as it did a typical hotel commons. I could easily envision something like a yoga retreat, drum circle or a spiral dance happening there. 🙂

We stayed there when it was The Royal at Playa Del Carmen. Then again after Covid when it was the Hilton. You can’t go wrong staying there and so close to 5th Avenue. The pepperoni pizza at the snack bar near the pool is fantastic! The girlfriend loved the coffee shop and their treats. Also all of the staff are so friendly, helpful, and nice! Everything about that result is elegant. It’s and excellent choice!

I was there at the end of February with my wife and some friends of ours. This was my first trip to all inclusive and to a resort in Mexico so I have nothing to compare it to but we really enjoyed ourselves. The vibe was great and the main pool was a blast. We did splurge for the cabanas tho. I thought the food was really good and I did not have a bad meal. We were there for 7 days and we did not get bored. We did do 3 days where we did some excursions. Review of the Resort: A "Memorable" Disappointment
Well, well, where do I begin with my stay at this resort? Let's call it an "experience" - one I'm eager to forget. From the moment you step foot into what claims to be a luxurious haven, you're swiftly transported to what feels more like a cattle farm. Ah yes, the ever-charming wristband - your badge of dishonor. So, if you fancy being an easily identifiable mark for every vendor, potential miscreant, and overly enthusiastic local in Playa del Carmen, this place has you covered!
Inside the resort? No escape. It's like being in a relentless sales pitch, but here, the ever-enthusiastic resort staff are the hawkers. Want to relax? Think again. They're always on standby to try and upsell you something. Upgrades, excursions, spa treatments, premium dinners - they're always on the hunt, and you're the prey. Ah, the serenity!
But where things truly take a dangerous turn? The so-called "security". For an establishment boasting its exclusivity, the behavior of some guests seemed more fitting for a backstreet bar brawl than a high-end retreat. The open bar? It's more like a ticking time bomb, drawing in unruly twenty and thirty-somethings. With their increasingly aggressive antics and sheer disregard for others' safety, you'd think the resort was auditioning for a reality show on brawls. The "security" team? Oh, they were there, but their indifference and inaction were alarmingly evident. It felt less like a retreat and more like a hazardous obstacle course, where every day brought a new set of challenges to one's personal safety.
"Smoke-free", they claimed. Yet the reality was an all-pervasive haze of secondhand smoke, and despite countless complaints, the smoky saga continued unhindered.
And don't get me started on the so-called all-inclusive deal. Overpriced restaurants and room service that felt more like a drag than a luxury. At 700-800 euros per night, the returns were pitifully inadequate. Mediocre drinks, a "piña colada" more reminiscent of murky puddle water, and dated rooms that screamed of neglect. My first night? A cacophonous symphony thanks to the ancient air conditioner, forcing an urgent room switch.
For a resort that parades itself as 5-star, a hesitant three would be a stretch. The raving reviews and promotional videos? One can't help but question their authenticity and how many palms were greased for those glowing endorsements.
In short, if you're seeking luxury and relaxation, this resort is a masterclass in how not to deliver either. Steer clear.
