"Rhaegar Frey the smirking worm who wears a dragons name"
Stannis the Mannis + Myman Manderly would make an unstoppable combo
"The north remembers Ser Davos, the Mummers farce is almost done, my son is home." God's I can't wait to see Manderley again in the books
Except no one will ever see the books.
Lord Too-Fat-To-Sit-A-Horse
@@pitakon Not till GRRM dies but he said he's destroying his notes to be petty so they'll have to write the ending from scratch.
Honestly, it would be much more satisfying as long as they actually found a good author to do it.
GRRM never intended to deliver a satisfying end. His intention was always for the series to be basically meaningless just so he could make some dumb point. That's the biggest reason he won't finish. Because nobody thought it was as clever as he did.
For those who don't remember this part or who aren't familiar with the books, Davos has gone to White Harbor on a mission for Stannis to get the Manderlys and their ships on their side. He is brought in before the entire court to make his case, though he had expected to talk to Wyman Manderly privately. There are 3 Freys there at court, one of which is Rhaegar Frey who has been trying to arrange a marriage between himself and Wyman's granddaughter. They are actually there to negotiate the Manderly's support for Roose Bolton, this being a condition in order for Wyman's heir who had been held hostage ever since the Red Wedding to be released.
When Davos is asked what Stannis has to offer them in an alliance other than death, Davos answers Revenge. Revenge for their dead lord, revenge for their dead lady, and revenge for their dead King (Robb, King of the North). That is when Rhagaer starts repeating the story that they have been spreading. In their story it is Robb who started the Red Wedding and he was the one who attacked them. In his story the Freys were just defending themselves.
Wyman Manderly needs to pretend to believe this nonsense, but he is just biding his time. He has Davos arrested. The Freys are safe as long as the stay . And when they leave Wyman Manderly sends them off with ceremony and gifts. They go , disappear, and are never seen again.
As for the Frey pie theory, Manderly arrives at Winterfell with men (mostly older) to fight for Roose Bolton against Stannis. In the books this battle is soon and will be in the long delayed Winds of Winter. Anyway Wyman brings food for a huge feast to the Boltons and the Freys. There are these 3 huge pies, and Everyone believes that Wyman is going to betray Roose on the battlefield and that those 3 pies were the 3 missing Freys. Wyman himself brings Walder Frey a slice of each of those pies.
In private Wyman Manderly says to Davos "The North Remembers" Speech. Look it up on RUclips, it is a great speech.
One if the worst Fray? Deamn... thats a hard bar to cross... he must eat the eyes of kids for such title.
His character is kind of instantly despised by everyone. He dresses in fine clothe and is something of a fashionista. His wife has just died in childbirth and he is trying to arrange a marriage between himself and Wyman Manderly's very young granddaughter who is less than half his age. She hates him and has refused, but he says that is fine and she just needs a firm hand. He is always smarmy and smirking and has a goatee. He insults Robb in front of the Northmen who loved Robb. Everyone wants him dead and that is why they all hope that in the next book it will be revealed that he was in that pie.
He also tells the court full of northmen who lost kin at the red wedding, that Robb Stark warged into a wolf, and killed everyone at the red wedding, and the Freys never betrayed anyone.
@@movieloverfan18”…and has a goatee.”
Say no more. 🤮
@@borismuller86Yep- Nuff said. From Australia (where there are some obscene goatee's).🐨
Davos : “Ser, may I have your name?”
Jared : “Ser Jared, of House Frey.”
Davos : “Jared of House Frey, I name you liar.”
That was so cold tho
My favorite line from that chapter.
Who the hell knights a Frey ? And why ?
good at fighting?

You forgot Robb transforming into a wolf and attacking people totally happened.
No, that was me and yo momma last night.
@@evanhayes5891and me and your daddy tonight
And Tyrion Lannister is as tall as the Hound.
mightve actually happened since his last word was Greywind
Rhaegar is truly an unlucky name
Indeed. One abandoned his family and caused a devastating war, the other is a less damaging bloke but a weasel all the same
The north remembers, and, oh boy, the Manderlys take revenge on top!
He eats the pie himself so everyone else does
You need to start providing a gallery for the art you use in the shorts they're amazing
When a reach house is more loyal to the starks then the other northen houses
Former reach, my man
Saying Manderly is a Reach house is like saying Americans are Europeans.
House umber of dragonstone and the mountain clans. The North remembers.
Rhaegar Frey's speech at the Merman's hall is one of the greatest monologs in the books. Bro spends like 2 full pages telling a story about Robb turning into a Wolfman, eating people, and then causing the Red Wedding.
Davos is one of the most likable characters in the books, so seeing this pathetic Frey named after Rhaegar seem to sway and convince Whymen is heartbreaking.
It makes the reveal in the next Davos chapter that much sweeter tho
Bro imagine bitching out a dead teenager infront of the banner men who months before showed up ready to spin for him and his dad,the majority of people in that room are 100% ride or die for the Starks, you're outnumbered dude...
I don’t know how the Frey dare to use a Targaryen name for a Frey person It's an insult ..
A dance with dragons, he says this in Davos’ second white harbour chapters and the pie part is from one of theons winterfell ones
They should go back to their based Sesame Street roots.
He also tells that robb turned in to a wolf and killed some of them. Which, Ironically, was partially true since robb is a warg (like all the stark kids in the books) and after his death he warged in to his direwolf and bite the kennel masters arm off before they killed him too.
this is actually beautifully written maybe i will read the books afterall
To be honest I kinda believed it myself. The red wedding felt like it happened a long time ago based the descriptions the characters give us. That whole chapter with cat felt almost like a fever dream.
Named after Rhaegar??? DISGUSTING!
Walder Frey was ALWAYS known for being a weasel.
@@swiftmatic rhaegar too, except no one except robert considers him a weasel because he is hot, even though he is the biggest one in westeros.
@@thesamejackalsniperthatkil117the same way there are glowing songs about Cersei all the way to the free cities cause she was hot, and people saw her second to a goddess hence she must be as kind and generous. Until the walk of shame where all pretences were removed. Rhaegar just so happens to die before his 'walk of shame' moment happened. But that's the beauty of it, the westereosi people are meant to be stupid and easy to con especially if you have an angelic face. I mean they still think baelor is wise and just and not the raving nutcase that he was
I'm no fan of Rhaegar, but I despise the Freys even more.
These freys...
Ser Emmon Frey had had the misfortune of marrying Tywin Lannister's younger sister and had lived in mortal terror of the man ever since.
Lord Manderly has grown to become one of my favourite characters in the books. He's all fat and jolly and a party animal, but in truth he knows damn well the Freys are lying and have murdered his son, and he conspires to put them down and avenge the Starks' slaughter. Dude really is a menace.
Why do the Freys have Targaryen names?
They can't come up with anything original.
Maybe because when Rhaegar Frey was born, the Targaryen dynasty was still around and they wanted to evoke the strength of their royal overlords. And also possibly curry favor with who they thought would be their future king; “hey, King Rhaegar, be nice to us Freys! We even named one of our guys after you!”
@@Garrus1995 makes sense.
They had so many kids, they probably named them after everybody after they ran out of frey names.
Well, he's not exactly wrong in his assessment I fear.
It's a shame they did house manderly dirty in the show like that.
It still breaks my heart to think of what happened to Robb. Guy was cleaning up Westeros but he just had to go and fall in love. I like to think he could have taken Tywin down in a battle, but that ain’t what we got.
He was that dude but no he ain't taking Tywin.
Wyman Manderly is the most dangerous s.o.b who doesn't wield a sword. He does not fuck around.
I thought the "pie" thing was from the rat king from the brothers watch? Because he had guests over and killed the kings son and fed it to the king
I freaking love the Manderleys, they might have originally come from the Reach but they are Northmen to the core. The really shit part of the whole thing is that Robb only fell for Jeyne because of the love potion Sybell Westerling gave him at the behest of Tywin. She learned the art of potions from her grandmother Maggy(the frog) Spicer. Robb never really betrayed the Freys he was magicked into it. Theres the true tragedy of the Red Wedding......wait Kevin take it easy, none of this is real. Sorry sometimes i forget.
On some level he's not wrong. Rob really let his people down in a big way. There are certainly plenty of reasons for why he fell short but he did fall short.
Wyman Manderly was indeed stout of body, but certainly no less stout of heart. The man had stones
Arya was ice cold until the last episode where she turned to damsel again😢
Somebody's been reading Titus Andronicus.
Man i wished he mentioned the part where rhagar frey spread rumors throughout the 7 kingdoms that rob stark and all his mem transformed into demon wolves then attacked everyone at the wedding so they were forced to kill them.
Incest and cannibalism exists in The Game of Thrones, huh? 😂
Roose probably didn’t eat it though, he knows wymans up to something.
I havent gotten to dance with dragons yet but i love how in CoK lord Manderly doesnt seem like anyone unusual and is just friendly towards Bran. Yet that friendlyness is actually a deeper loyalty to the starks "True to our words" indeed
Yes I did know that this happened in the books, I read the books, I feel like everybody who follows this account has read the books 😂
I could live off these shorts
Robb did break the promise of marrying of Frey's daughter
That idiot Catelyn's worst idea.
"Robb also said BDK and that King Von was no true king."
Umm, I don’t remember this at all. Which book, chapter, etc?
Not sure , probably in the last book . It is when Davos goes to White Harbor to get the support of the Manderlys for Stannis and finds there are 3 Freys there at court. Wyman Manderly has to do what they want because they have been holding his heir hostage, so he publicly orders Davos arrested. The Freys are trying to push the story that it was Rob who started the Red Wedding. They said that he was the one who turned on the Freys and the Boltons and attacked them. Also that he was a werewolf and transformed into a beast and attacked them and his own men. The Freys are claiming to have only been defending themselves.
Later Wyman Manderly when alone with Davos gives "The North Remembers" speech which is some of the best writing in the books. There is a rendition of it on RUclips, listen to it, very worth it.
I looked it up Dance of the Dragons chapter 19
The worst of the Freys? Considering how bad the Freys are in general, that sounds like a serious red flag.
I think Robb Stark is amazing, he and Arya are my favorites. but Fray didn't lie. Robb did not return to defend the invaded north and broke his promise.
You know this is another solid change from book to show. Having Arya personally get revenge on Walder Frey made that scene SO hype.
Arya never made any sense to me in the books. Like she was awesome at first, but then everything is Essos is just weird.
She halfway abandons the old gods, but then never truly excepts her new gods. She’s all wishy washy. I kinda hope she goes big and loses tragically.
Rickon is meant to be Lord of the North, and Arya is just superfluous at that point.
@@Random_UserName4269Arya is going to die by Dany. Jon will get upset and kill Dany. Jon will then run away beyond the wall as a fugitive. Bran will be King idk how but he will be. Rickon will be lord of Winterfell. Sansa will be lady of the Eyrie (married to Lord Arryn) and ofc: Robb Starks head will be placed in Mountains body and kill Lady Stoneheart
yea but it totally ruined the entire arc of the manderlys getting their revenge on the freys and boltons for the red wedding
Not really because here it made the North more dynamic and REALLY showed how grievous the betrayal the Freys did and what Tywin did more meaningful. As well as robbing us of more freys to hate
Exactly, people just be hating Arya because she hard to understand most of the time
GRRM is one gruesome old savage of a writer.... gotta love him!
I mean yeah he betrayed the freys
I mean, he's not exactly wrong, Robb did all those things, Frey just describes them from the worse outlook.
They still lie about the Red wedding and how they were the ones who violated guest right. Robb did not attack them there but they lie about all that.
Nit really? He was literally trying to to fix the problems, because if he really did abandon the North then he wouldn't have abandoned the Riverlands. And he never did anything just to have a better kingdom for himself. Even so, breaking one of the biggest social vows isn't worth what they claim Robb did.
@@Ashbrash1998 He marched south and left North open for attack from the Ironbornes, he left Riverlands and took his army to the Westernlands and then got pissy at Edmure for attacking Lannister's army to defend his land, and he did break betrothal for Westernland's lady. The fact that he wanted to fix all of those doesn't change the fact that he fucked up epicly.
@@anatorres9715 Well yeah, that part was a lie, but it wasn't brought up in the short.
@@catxborsuq1he never should have been betrothed to a Frey anyway. But no, Catelyn wanted to play politics...
Frey pies are a theory, not confirmed.
**Supposedly, not supposably
The more I hear about the North in the books only makes me love them more because of their fierce loyalty to the Starks, and not bootlicking the Boltons
What were they thinking cutting this story from the show? I wanna see Yorkshire Legend Brian Blessed have someone cooked into a pie
Ha the fact the the Freys even tried to convince other Northern loyal lords of a
“Stark Traitor” is hilarious
This is the north Loyalty is everything and seriously the son of Ned Stark wanting to carve out his own kingdom
No wonder the Freys were looked at by every other house as fools
You forgot to mention that they also claimed he turned into a wolf in the middle of the wedding just to add insult to the death of white harbors sons
Why do so many Freys have Targaryen names 💀
Rhaegar ,Aegon Freys love Valyrian names
They also have cercei😂
Robb got what was coming he disrespected them broke his vows so they did the same
Even if he accepted it and kept the vow he would have been killed
Yes he broke his vows but he defeated every man in the battle. How they killed him is not manly.
And despite all that he never betrayed anyone.
He did the marriage because jane lost her virginity and it is a big deal in westros.
What freys did was a cowardly incident. They know they could not have defeated him in war.

He may be one of the worst Freys but not a single line of that quote was a lie or even misleading. Robb did virtually abandon the North to defend themselves against the Ironborn after he sent his only leverage against the Iron Islands back to them.
And Robb did dismiss his marriage pact to wed the first Westerner he laid with. The Freys weren’t wrong for what they did. They were wrong for how they did it.
