This episode…is what changed me. Changed my life, broke my heart, broke me, destroyed everything I once was! Lol! Literally! I do my yearly re watch of GoT, and still dread this episode every single damn time. I am forever a die hard Stark fan. Thanks for another great video! ❤
There is also the blood party in Roskilde. It was a reconciliation feast where 3 kings in Denmark meet and one king Svend betrayed the others, killed King Knud and King Valdemar escaped an startet the war that would unite Denmark🇩🇰
Unfortunately Robb's Tully half got the better of him after laying with Jeyne Westerling. People say he married her because he's like his father but Ned forsworn the honor of Ashara Dayne to marry Cat and secure Hoster Tully's support in Robert's Rebellion. If Robb was more like his father here he would have married Roslin Frey. Tullys just have no good sense, except the Blackfish that is.
Have you heard about the Blood Feast of Roskilde in 1157? after the danish king Erik III died, the country was split into three kingdoms, lead by kings all saying they have a legitimate claim to the throne. One is Eriks cousin Knud, the other his nephew Valdemar and the last his illegitimate son Sven. The three Kings are at war for ten years but finally negotiate a peace treaty. They hold a big feast to celebrate the new found peace, but one of the kings Knud conspire against the others, and tries to kill the other kings at the feast. Seems a lot like the red wedding too
Even in real life, we Humans have deeply rooted social traditions that seemingly transeed written law. Its almost like we devloped a stark revoltion to certain actions one can take under certain situations during our evolution to be more able to cooperate.
Thank you for this video!!Amazing one I didn't know about black dinner before I read those books so I didn't thought of it when I read the red wedding in the books but I thought of something else St Bartholomew's massacre ... it was also a "red wedding".It was later I learned about the black dinner and that it was the inspiration of it!! Thank you again for this one I love historical inspirations explained!!!!
About Tywin's question in the end of this video, one can question him why doesn't he surrender if he cares so much for the thousands dying for his side isn't free of guilty.
Yes! Definitely similar to the Black Dinner - a bit bloodier too. I believe something like 80 people were executed, a lot more than the Black Dinner, but not quite on the Red Wedding's level.
Oh! Please please do The Wall/Hadrians wall! I’ve been thinking about it ever since I watched some history of Rome documentary’s. But I’ve been too busy to actually research it…
At least justice was served to Tywin by way of Tyrion. Roose may not be long for The Winds of Winter, if Stannis is successful in taking Winterfell, and Walder Frey's kids are going to turn on each other like rabid dogs when he either dies of old age or Arya shows him how winter will come for him eventually.
Roose and Robb Stark were both guests under Walder Frey's roof, guests killing fellow guests does not break guest right. Only the Freys broke it because they were the hosts.
I find it very hard to believe that Jaime Lannister, a childhood prodigy knight and obviously training from dawn to dusk, never learned to fight with his off hand. Even in a world of shield bearing.
Hopefully, it will involve what Bran said in his story about the Rat King. Please let it be Lady Stoneheart. Walder Frey becoming insane and feral, becoming the Cannibal of the Twins. And not Aryia with her super OP shapeshifter assassin abilities.
16:37 Except that the Starks never pillaged common folks. It was the Lannisters who always did it. This wasn’t a move by the Lannisters to save lives. This was a move for them to wipe their own ass and justify their war crimes.
Vargo and Roose Bolton made a deal that Vargo would become Lord of Harrenhal if he joins Robb's cause. Also, Roose says "He is my man, as I am King Robb's man." So Roose sees him not so much as a sellsword but closer to a bannerman.
Jon Snow is dead, by the same mistake that his father Ned committed, and there is no chance in hell that he would be resurrected, the TV Show already probe the amount of plot holes and out of characters moments that would create, George RR Martin would be very stupid to resurrect Jon Snow out pure fanservices.
It's not unheard of in ISOIAF for characters to be resurrected. Beric, Mel, Lady Stoneheart. It's possible, especially if he's one of the heads of the dragon from the prophecy. If that does happen, I'm sure GRRM will do it better than D&D.
@@_S.D._ Yeah, but every of those characters resurrected either as corpse or lose part of themselves, as Beric put it, he always lose part of himself every-time that the Thoros resurrect him, no if he want to add the same out of character moments and plot holes and D&D, Melisandre is a Stannis loyalist to the day she dies, nothing would change her mind that Stannis is the Azor Ahai, there is also the tiny, little fact that she doesn't known how to bring back people, Thoros didn't teach her, and she had no loyalty whatsoever to Jon Snow, Jon Snow by the end of the day was the bastard son of Ned Stark and die, like his brother Robb making the same mistakes, no one speak of that stupid fan theory anymore, and that is for the best, anyone put Jon Snow in a pedestal, and I glad that Old George bring him down, even that he use him to promote Games of Thrones, shamelessly. The best that you can hope is that Jon Snow become a Warg.
They did to the January 6th people. the same thing they fid on game of thrones for the black dinner. Open the doors and let them in. Once inside they closed the doors on them and attacked them. It was a well planned out ambush.

That’s a fact about Dacey Mormont. RIP to the fiery young cub. 😢
Still haven’t forgiven George for that one 😔

I never thought about it like that before lol I think you're right
Ned Stark was never betrothed to Ashara Dayne and was never confirmed to have had a relationship with her

About Tywin's question in the end of this video, one can question him why doesn't he surrender if he cares so much for the thousands dying for his side isn't free of guilty.
Because Tywin is a kind of guy who committed war crimes first, then rationalized it later.
Loving the intro by the way.
Great video! Have you heard about the Stockholm Bloodbath? Executions that followed after a banquet, also very similar to the red wedding :)
