The referees are more at fault than Cavanagh. Any player in that position would've hoped they could do the same, but to not send him off afterwards was a disgrace
This was great stuff! Great vital debating which is sadly missing from RTE these days. We only now get the sanitised model of discussion; the cautious, timid, careful-not-to cause- offence formula. It's so bland, it's embarrassing. The new producers mc Bennett and co have destroyed proper debate. Shame on them.
Why would he have sour grapes, he is from Tyrone. He is right. McManus was through on goal. If an illegal foul such as this happened in rugby it would have been a penalty try. Cynical play should be punished and not just by a black card.
Joe should have let O'Rourke and Spillane speak earlier but he was right. In every sport, people will do what it takes to win, but if the benefit they get from breaking the rules outweighs the punishment they get for it, then the rules are not fit for purpose. I don't think it was anything against Tyrone. There are a lot of cynical men all over the country who would've done the same thing as Cavanagh, (including in Derry) and Joe's point was about them all.
This shows why RTE rightly got rid of Brolly . Towards the end his punditry became OTT sensationalist opinions to make it a story about him as opposed to the incident themselves. The older he gets the more he craves the spotlight.
Well spoken joe.people dnt like the truth.very disappointed in sean kavanagh.brillant footballer brilliant player but what he did to win at all costs let himself down very very badly.u lost an awful lot of respect for dropping to that level.
Dualtach McKeown being from mayo I don’t think I’ve ever seen somthing happen like that remind me of you can but as much as I hate Dublin I’ve never seen that
O Rourke could have said to joe it's 1993 when Derry and brolly won their only all ire. Injury time Derry are 2 points up. Opposition clean thru for goal derry back Downey rather than make a rugby tackle lets the forward thru and Derry lose the all ire. Would eamon Coleman the Derry manager pat Downey on the back and say wel done Henry much better to lose than win with a cynical tackle It's all about the spirit of the game. Whether we like it or not cynicism is a human trait and is part of every aspect of life whether business sport marriage law health u name it. Of course it's not a good thing but cavanagh displayed human behaviour that goes back to the creation of man but he didn't do anything really terrible. Brolly knew McManus as a little kid and let emotions surpass reality reasoning and life.
Yes, cynicism exists. Interestingly, only some people are cynical. And the research that those who are cynical tend to be unhappier, earn less, and have shorter life spans.
Just watched this again tonight. This is the template for what was to follow. How have the powers that be allow this once great game become the farce it is today. It’s a travesty. A disgrace. And it’s away too late to stop it. All the upcoming coaches have been brought up with this Shit
hate the way he lifts his hands.... knows he has destroyed the game......i wont defend him....but its part and parcel of the game.... it was up to the ref to send him off
I am a Donegal supporter and I really like Joe Brolly. He was a worthy opponent when he played for Derry against us and he always stuck up for Donegal when we were getting unfair criticism.
@@Adam-os4is He took way too many steps before he hopped the ball. From the time that he caught the ball to the time that he hopped it he'd overcarried.
Colm O'Rourke was right any team would have pulled him down. I had same thoughts watching the clip. Instinct for a professional foul. Happens in soccer too.
Neutral people listening to brolly always are taken in by his believability. Break it down he talks a lot of nonsense. Doesn't happen in other sports. Ur winning World Cup final last minute against Portugal ronaldo is clean thru of course you'll foul if only way to stop him. Could say same about rugby hockey hurling etc etc. Actually many sports such as athletics cycling have proven to be a lot more cynical with drug cheats. That's the danger of barristers they're so well trained at persuasion putting forward a case people like oj Simpson can walk free and the jury can believe the earth is flat by the end of the rant.
Just because other sports do similar cynical stuff doesn't make it right, in fact most sports are trying though cut that shit out and would bash into that stuff.
Brolly is bang on right. It was a disgrace. It was cheating. If your going to foul him at least make it look like your trying to get the ball. What Cavanagh did was a total disgrace and is every thing thats wrong with Gaelic.People like u who condone it should be kept away from sport.
"at least make it look like your trying to get the ball" Ah, so you prefer your "cheating" to be sneaky. I see. "What Cavanagh did was a total disgrace and is every thing thats wrong with Gaelic" No. What Cavanagh did was make the correct decision. He highlighted a problem in the leniency of the punishments handed out for certain rule infringements, which existed long before he ever made this tackle. It most definitely was not a disgrace. The only thing that was disgraceful was the fact that the GAA took so long to introduce a punishment more befitting of the severity of this particular type of infringement.
I too as a defender would have pulled him down out of pure instinct, but also I would have expected my game to come to a premature end with a red card.
While Jo makes his point, his constant finger pointing and visceral aggressive manner, is a disgrace. I would not have him in a company. He is far too shouty and cannot listen.
Of course it is. Ye cheated ye're way to three All Irelands. What Cavanagh did was disgusting but that's normal behaviour for Tyrone people. A pity English teams were ever allowed into the All Ireland championship.
Difficult to listen to the truth down your way? Joe was right even if he went a little too far about Sean Cavanagh. Sean IS a man even if a very poor excuse for one.
It's the fault of the gaa for the punishment not fitting the crime. McManus said himself that if a player on his team didn't foul a forward through on goal he would be asking questions
well done!!!! how is that well done ??thats just another example of how much of a dirty team Tyrone aren sorry but last time I checked were playing Gaelic not rugby this is aload of ****** tryone should be ashamed by themselves
I’m from Tyrone, but the fact that wasn’t a red card is a disgrace
That's what was disgraceful; the rules and punishments in place at that time. Not Sean Cavanagh. Not Mickey Harte and not Tyrone.
Who cars
I think he expected a red card
Black cards yellow cards red cards a spectrum of bullshit
A horrible game ref couldn’t make the big decision
brolly: 5 star man. is he too honest for some?
This trio will be no more sadly. Best pundits on tv
The referees are more at fault than Cavanagh. Any player in that position would've hoped they could do the same, but to not send him off afterwards was a disgrace
Lol
Brolly is spot on .Tyrone play like thugs.
Kieran Logue fuck up
Facts
What will, you do
I live in tyrone and there so defensive 😕
Will I live in Armagh but bully agh ha yea if you let them 🤣🤣🤣

Anthony Holmes wrong his mammy is he's from Dungiven born there
Anthony Holmes Brolly is from Derry
fucking disgrace well done to brolly for calling a spade a spade
Shut up Lyster and let him rant! 😄
One of the best Sunday game moments of all time
Joe should have let O'Rourke and Spillane speak earlier but he was right.

It’s like I was watching Rugby and Basketball at the same time. Could never get used to this.
Who’s here after watch Conor impressions
😂i'm one
He's only 5 you know
Someone had to hold me back XD I wouldn’t exaggerate
“No other sport where that is permitted apart from the Gaelic games” it was a fuckin rugby tackle 😂
All these men are now done 🥲
Brolly has never been my cup of tea but he’s correct here
Well Rte ye sacked yer best ever pundit,Brolly absolutely spot on,is it a wonder the Sunday game is so bad now, hopeless punditry.
Brolly is totally correct we need more people like him
This shows why RTE rightly got rid of Brolly . Towards the end his punditry became OTT sensationalist opinions to make it a story about him as opposed to the incident themselves. The older he gets the more he craves the spotlight.
Joe Brolly speaking truth to power.
What is so extremely sad about all of this is that lyster is making excuses for him its disgraceful to the extreme
Never liked Cavanagh after he started referring to GAA played in the 9 counties as Ulster but when it’s played in the 6 counties its the UK. ⚽️ 💼
He called the North the UK? Big oof
Like with the football, RTE have gotten rid of pundits who spoke their mind. Now we have PC robots
Well spoken joe.people dnt like the truth.very disappointed in sean kavanagh.brillant footballer brilliant player but what he did to win at all costs let himself down very very badly.u lost an awful lot of respect for dropping to that level.
Clear foul but I would do the same thing
He did what he had to do to prevent a goal
And he should have been sent off, that's the point
@@PeterSellers22 do
The rule at that was a yellow card so what is your point
Joe brolly he’s a legend 5 star man
Hes a sad twisted wee bigot
Every person just because its tyrone dublin were as bad in the final but sure you can't say anything bad about dublin
Ultan Mckeown yes we can
Everyone always does
Ultan Mckeown no other team has done that Tyrone are the reason the black card was brought in
Micheal Richardson no one is worse than dublin
Dualtach McKeown being from mayo I don’t think I’ve ever seen somthing happen like that remind me of you can but as much as I hate Dublin I’ve never seen that
I have just found these sorts of clips superb. Get these guys over to do Scottish football haha
Joe Brolly spoke facts
Well 2 be fair if all of us were Sean what would we do in that situation
H'on the brolly
Most have had very little faith in the goalie .....😮

The host is overstepping here
when are RTE going get rid of those two clueless commentators.

Joe brollys my wee brothers godfather
I am a Donegal supporter and I really like Joe Brolly. He was a worthy opponent when he played for Derry against us and he always stuck up for Donegal when we were getting unfair criticism.
But have to say a brilliant man and loved watching him overy many years.hpy retirement sean but u tainted ur fantastic reputation.big pity
I was up in the upper hogan and that match was a fucking shitshow but at least we got the win. Pity Kerry came along and fucked that one up.
Everything joe said is correct
brilliant tv..pure scutter now
We didn’t know how lucky we were
No the boys are laughing because they are getting paid to comment on a game thats become a dregs of a sport.
mkay ... i hope there won't be a war started over this ... whatever this is
McManus took way too many steps anyway. Should have been a free out.
nah took the rite amount he would’ve needed to solo just after when cavangh pulled him down
@@Adam-os4is He took way too many steps before he hopped the ball. From the time that he caught the ball to the time that he hopped it he'd overcarried.
Cry me a River, what have you got to say about the ref in today's game. All Ireland final 2021. And who won?
Thought he reffed it very well. Fair play to Tyrone this year
Get a grip Brolly and other Tyrone haters. Any footballer will admit he’d have done the same thing
Lier i did that in u12
Who just wants to through a brick at joe brolly💪🏼😠
It's a disgraaace, you know
Brolly is 700 percent
Why not play rugby instead of gaa
Old Joe is sore tyrone 4 Sam's
Colm O'Rourke was right any team would have pulled him down. I had same thoughts watching the clip. Instinct for a professional foul. Happens in soccer too.
Typical GAA shite again. A violent game with cheats a lot of the time.

Joe Brolly represents the best of what the GAA is about, shame on RTE....
he was dead right. this was theiry henry stuff. not the first time tyrone have made a mockery of the game.
Brolly is spot on disgrace what Tyrone did
Up Tyrone
It’s not it’s just clever play
Easy
I hate joe brolly coz he is always cutting down kerry but he makes a valid point
Me too
Well said JB

God the Sunday game is so boring and scripted now -
I’m from Tyrone, and this is still the funniest thing I’ve seen in my life.

Disgraceful to the extreme
He sounds like Conor Moore
Thank God brolly is gone

That's true up tyrone
Any other player in that position woulf have done the exact same thing
Brolly the Muppet, sour grapes what else was Cavanagh to do and the fact of colm n pat laughing just shows what a fool ish statement he made.
Imagine getting this serious about kicking a ball around.
