Old George's talk with Ben was so great. It is actually rare to see a show like this have people on both sides talk about what they have in common or can sympathize with. If you truly believe that, then you fail to grasp the true flaw of his character. He represents the best of what ben could be IF all of bens shortcomings rose to the surface. He exists to corrupt ben. Remember the final decision Villgax (the villain) tried to make ben make. That's the same decision George is trying to convince him of now. That his own sense of morality is the correct one.
Keep in mind, Sir George ended up being the reason why the forever knights were created, and his lack of _"doing the right thing that you dont want to do"_ is strictly what lead to that and why the knights ended up becoming the bad guys. He is heroism when stoicism is left unchecked. A flaw that I am only now realizing as of writing this that I suffer from as well. Pure hubris.

I always had a theory that, on top of many theories that the Omnitrix is "alive", in a sense, so is Ascalon, and there's a "connection" between them in some way. Perhaps even using the same energy. Like, they never really went into detail what kind of energy is the Omnitrix using, so perhaps since it's powerful enough to wipe out a universe at maximum self destruct, it's powered by the same cosmic force as Ascalon, and therefore the sword is able to "command" the Omnitrix to stand down
also i love how a friend of mine basically thought that Ascalon was a weapon created for destruction and used primarily to destroy the user'sfoes, while the Omnitrix was made for peace and is used to protect others, especially by someone like Ben
so in a way, if used together (properly, unlike what happens in the UA finale), the user would essentially have a SWORD and a SHIELD, complimenting each other, as Ascalon's capacity to destroy is tempered by the Omnitrix's ability to save, a true balance between two of Azmuth's greatest creations!

In the story Driscoll reads about St. George and the Dragon it might not have been referring to Dagon at all but perhaps one of the lucubra.
We see him spear head the giant Lucubra in a similar manner to some incarnations of the original take and they have mind powers too. Not to mention there shape would be more inclined to be misinterpreted as a Dragon than the giant octopus.
It's quite possible who ever wrote the original story saw or heard of George killing the giant Lucubra and just assumed that was the final boss

    • @namesdontmattergaming2756

I think the story is about Dagon since it mentions the heart thing, it’s just that over the centuries the story was embellished. A lot of creatures in history were interpreted as dragons or demons; crocodilians, big cats, dinosaur bones, rhinos, etc. I can see a giant lovecraftian squid thing could be misinterpreted as a ancient whiskered dragon

I know Ben technically isn’t a chosen one since the Omnitrix was initially meant for Max, but having George as his foil, someone else given Azmuth’s ultimate device, is so interesting to see. Both Ascalon and the Omni/Ultimatrix have seemingly limitless power but also provide completely different abilities. I’d bet Ascalon’s power is likely a factor in why Azmuth decided to include a time limit and a limited playlist for the Omnitrix in the first place

At the end of UAF, he built enough trust to Ben over the years to finally tell him about Zenith.

So when George calls Ben, "Young Master" he's just doing it to refer to Ben being under aged. Where as if he was older (like let's say Ben 10K's age) He would likely refer to him as Mr. Tennyson or something instead.

Since Azmuth hoped that Zenith would be the one who realizes who made the watch for the purpose of peace. I think Azmuth's logic was more or less like "I've made a terrible mistake, but maybe I can still redeem myself by creating something just as good as the evil thing I made. And maybe if I do, things can go back to the way they were before, back when I was happy but didn't yet realise it. So what the good device should be? Well, I've created a tool of war, so now I shall create a tool of peace. Seeing as most conflicts happen because two groups can't understand eachother, and there is no better way to understand someone than to literally become them, I will create a device that stores the DNA of all living things inteligent enough to be safely transformed into, and allows it's user to mix his DNA with one of those stored in the device, thus transforming him into a different species without losing his sense of self, so he can trully understand how it is to be somebody else. Additionally, since the device hosts all the DNA in the universe, it can act as a fail save for an entire species in case a war did break out despite my device being supposed to stop that from happening."
And sice that's how progress usually works, he also installed some features he invented previously, like bringing the user to the prime of his abilities while using the device (George going back to his youth and Ben always turning into the most genetically perfect verison of the alien) or the fail save protecting the user (Ben's watch regrowing him from his DNA, preventing his arm from being cut off ergo separated from the omnitrix, or picking an alien for him so he can survive and sir George's life "being bound to the sword Escalon").
Then as he keept working he saw more and more things that his device would need to do, so he keept upgreading it thus adding more features. So we ended up with things like Omnitrix scanning the DNA of creatures, protective features like locking the master controll or timeouts and all of the things the watch can do now.

6:45 Maybe Dagon's his dimension's equivalent to "too big to fit"?

I honestly would've hoped that they bring up the spring of youth from the classic series to explain george's immortality,Would've been a nice callback and pretty much ties the whole series up which is what this arc has been doing.

I also thought this for a bit but I guess it wouldn’t really make any sense as George is British and was around far before the spring was discovered in America. You also need to constantly be drinking from it to keep surviving so there couldn’t be another Fountain of Youth in the UK or else he would’ve ran out after he moved to America and it was destroyed by Baby Heatblast.

Maybe just have the fountains origin in europe and then moved to the new world?

@@Bertiboy Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you in this regard. The writers were clearly pulling a lot of direct inspiration from the legend of Saint George, including using Western-style, Roman Catholic imagery for his design. A 'historically' accurate depiction is Greek, and the Greek Orthodox art looks closer to what he would've actually looked like, considering his ethnicity and where he was born and raised (first Cappadocia in Asia Minor/modern Turkey, then Syria Palaestin/roughly modern Israel?).
He's also a Christian martyr, killed during the reign of Diocletian, in both the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches, so if I had to guess the reason for his immortality, it was some sort of reward for his unshakeable faith in God.

Both of them have names related to astrological navigation. An azimuth is the direction of a celestial object from the observer, or the horizontal angle of a compass. A zenith is the point in the sky or celestial sphere directly above an observer, it can also mean the maximum height something can be.

I think the idea of the seal is that it stops anything above a certain level of power from passing through it, and that the other side of the seal is in the other dimension/universe

These breakdowns have giving me a new appreciation for Ultimate Alien, a section of Ben 10 history I’ve never really liked before. It just really puts into perspective what a departure Omniverse is.

4:45 This is true! People don’t really say it anymore but it’s normally used to refer the first born son. I’ve seen it used instead of mister on official letters/documents sometimes as well

6:32 so dimension walking is like using the nether to travel far distances in Minecraft, you enter the nether through a portal in the overworld, walk a little bit in the nether and then exit to the overworld again and find yourself in a different place. But here the distance must be the same here cause unlike Minecraft where 1 block in nether = 8 blocks in the overworld Gwen was able to see the esoterica walk on stairs in the dragon dimension in real time, so the two dimensions are right on top of each other with 1:1 distance ratio.
