It's pretty clear why Wooting keeps kicking a$$ with each of their releases... These guys are absolute PERFECTIONISTS!!! They sweat over the tiniest (but super important!) details that other much larger brands just gloss over.
All 3 Zinc cases look really good. Please do update us once the White and Raw ones are fully final. I like the look of the raw one a lot but IDK if I can keep it in pristine condition. So I may go for white. But if you manage the final effort for making the Raw stronger... Just update us Wooting. Amazing work either way.
When it comes to the raw zinc alloy case, I would honestly prefer longevity over a slight hit to the looks, part of the zinc alloy appeal at least to me is that this is a piece that could last with you for the rest of your life, something memorable that you could use and keep forever without having to babysit it.
Since you have that modified keyboard testing rig, it would be helpful to check how much latency and deviation usb hubs add. (while other hub's port doing big data transfer as well) I've heard that it is sub millisecond, but haven't seen any sub millisecond precise tests.
We considered it, but the light gray feet complete the styling of the 80HE and is the linking chain. But not off the table for future iterations or accessories option

I think the aging/patina of the raw alloy case over time will hopefully be one of the best qualities of this case, as it'll add uniqueness to every board.
True, i've work with patinas before. It comes with different results depending on how long it was submerge into the patina(concentration of the solution, etc). Though if you wanna keep the raw look without using clear coat, you can always use wax coating to keep the metal from oxidizing. Edit: Wax coat helps protect the metal from most liquid/fingerprint stains too
I can't wait to see how artists will put their spin on the raw zinc with electroform or torch patinas! KneeDeep did a batch a year or so ago for the TYP60 keyboard and it was awesome.
I just spent wwwaaaayyy to much money preordering the top top top end 80HE with all the extras. Buuut this will probably be my forever keyboard. Can't wait to see it
I wonder how ceramic coating the RAW case would be. Like not as a huge assembly line production thing but more so consumer thing. I haven't checked prices in forever but I feel like you could get a $20-30 bottle and completely/perfectly coat the raw case and this would 100% keep it safe from anything and clean up easier.
I am getting one of the testers. I will be testing and publishing results for around 35 different HE keyboards. I think this is really awesome for them to be doing this. I honestly only expect only a couple keyboards to come close to Wooting latency wise. Latency is only one aspect of judging a good gaming keyboard, but it probably the most important thing. The software is the next most important feature, and this is where Wooting is leading also. There are a couple others that are getting close, and that is also something that can improve over the life of whatever keyboard you choose. I believe picking a keyboard from a company that plans on activity developing and supporting that keyboard is also super important. Build quality, layout, how it feels and sounds are also important. Some get that part right but screw up the technical aspects, and others get the technical part right, but the keyboard it's self feels cheap. Lastly I would say the price of the board is also important. Some buyers may have a limited budget and a lot of the best keyboards will be out of their reach. There are definitely a few sub $100 keyboards that a decent, but if you can afford it, I do recommend going for a quality keyboard like a Wooting.
Counter-strafing is a skill demand of CS. I genuinely hope Valve comes up with some method of scanning for this. SOCD/rappy snappy subverts the skill level required to play the game proficiently. Competitive esports are nothing without a high skill ceiling. Really cool tech, and thank you for having an open ear to your user-base, Wooting. This isn't a good thing though. It's bad for competitive play.
itd be roughly the same seeings its about 0.5ms ahead. 1khz means your average press will be 0.5ms from an update and 8khz neans your average press will be about 0.06ms away from.a refresh/update which is about 0.45ms difference. Add that on and you get the same latency roughly at 1.2ms
should work like normal tbh, unless its drawing a lot more power which shouldn't happen. And if it does just contact support but i really doubt it or just lower the polling rate
You can see wooting is scamming their customers by making the 80he press at a higher actuation point, if you look at the competitors its pressing way deeper to actuate
I just ordered one of your 80HE keyboards, thinking maybe it would help with my declining skills....I'm a 78-year-old gamer, been playing since the late '80s, but it probably won't help me much unless you would be so kind as to restrict your sales to gamers 78 and over. ☺
How does 8k polling affect CPU’s especially when paired with 8k mice or 4K motion sync mice? How much volatility can it introduce to frametime? Mainly for demanding games like BR, and other non-arena shooters.
Does anyone know if the 8khz polling rate will cause fps lag in CPU-bound games? When I use 8kz polling on my mouse some games become unplayable when moving the mouse around fast due to the fps drops/stuttering.
This might be a stupid suggestion, but why not use a clear cerakote/ceramic coating on the raw finish to preserve the "freshly machined" look while still offering solid corrosion and stain resistance? Obviously it would be pricier but you could maybe offer it as an add-on. Just a thought :)
Please make a definitive statement about which cases get which LED bar - the light diffused and the dark one. I am getting 2 cases just so I can get the one presumed to come with a dark LED bar transferred to the one that would presumably come with a light LED bar or vice versa.
Please let the raw metal to oxidise.. It will let the keyboard to develop "patina" overtime and it's no necessary a bad thing because it's a beauty in itself.
It would have been great if you had shown the latency for corsair k65 pro mini, it has an 8K Hz polling rate but no rapid trigger. however, it is currently the fastest keyboard as tested by rtings but I guess we will soon find out once rtings gets one.
I bought myself a wooting 60he+ and I'm in love so I think I might aswell get the 80he and give my 60he+ to my younger cousin. Y'all make really nice keebs

Can we please get a more in-depth video on rappy-snappy? Im very interested in the feature and how much of an advantage it will provide in games like CS.
I do love the idea that the zinc case ages with you. That means every keyboard will become unique eventually and that's not a bad thing in the hobby, no? If you dislike it, you may buy a new one. But what I've been wondering was, if a clearcoat of any kind is an option? It would alter the feel, obviously, but also preserves the look, no? So could there be the option to have a clearcoated raw and a pure raw? So that people can decide what they want most - long lasting raw looks, or a truly evolving raw case.
