However, how you monetize or turn your content into a business is up to you - and there are two terms we hear floating around a lot to describe those ways of creating content as a means to make money - and that’s Influencer or Content Creator. While some people see these terms as synonyms (and truly there is not actual dictionary definition) but the way I see it - they describe two distinct ways of approaching a content business online. So today I want to break them both down for you - and help you figure out which approach will work better for you and your goals.

This is honestly so helpful, this was a huge debate on tiktok recently and this is the first time I’ve heard “content creator” described in this way. Most people on tiktok were trying to say influencers sell people things, content creators make valuable content. (I like your explanation better)

You can be both, I think: You can be a content creator and an Influencer at the same time....

Wow! You have read my mind. I was just on research path this morning, trying to finally determine whether I should become an influencer or a content creator. Thank you!

I’d love to be a content creator. From your quiz that’s what it verified too 😅. My question is if I wanted to work with small local businesses to help them thrive online with social media how would I get started when I have no experience except the content I’ve just done myself?

Would you consider a writer trying to build a readership for their books an influencer or a content creator?

This isn’t true. Casey. Kold. Daniel dalen. John Harris. Life of riza. These are all content creators. Influencers are yappaholics people that uses their looks or “personality” (Jake Paul) to help create content and make brain rot stuff. Meanwhile content creators actually tell a story or share their journey through visual art 🖼️

Neither really aligns with me. I don't like the way 'content creator' waters down what specifically people do or make. I do not like my art to be described as 'pieces of content' and I'm not sure I'm exactly cut out for the constant 'add value' mantra everyone repeats. For example, if im not teaching, it's not valuable. I do like your videos, they are helpful, Just my 2 cents!
