The Pit of 100 Trials (Flopside) [1-20]
You will need the "Text Tileset Mod" and the tileset "Pa3_events_extras.arc" for this level to work (included). The "Text Tileset Mod" can be found in your /Reggie/Reggieextras/ folder, or by downloading it from here: rvlution.net/ns...
Big level with 20 trials in one level file. Five of each dedicated to a specific enemy or hazard from the game.
001 - 005: Goombas
006 - 010: Koopas
011 - 015: Piranha Plants and Venus Fire Traps
016 - 020: Bob-ombs
Planned already: "Rolling hills" and "Vines". Please post enemies or hazards you want to see next in the comments.

0 = Mario, 1 = Luigi, 2 = Blue Toad, 3 = Yellow Toad
Tips: Follow instructions to advance. Most of the time you have to clear all enemies. A door will then appear so you can progress.
Replace this Level with 01-41.arc (Peach's Castle) for no time limit and HUD.
Trial 8: Rising water that loops and skips the "falling" part.
Trials 12 and 13 are much more difficult than it looks. I was very lucky to pass them rather easily.
Trial 15 is a bit too easy with the Fire Flower.
Trial 18: Lifts will activate when Mario carries an enemy.
Trial 20: Activate all switches. some of them will fall, so you have to get them before they disappear. Possibilty to reset if missed.
Trial 20: Noise can not be reduced.

You... You carry the weight of thousands of childhoods being made. As a child, I had looked at these custom levels, always in complete awe of the plethora of ideas you all cover in your levels, giving (what only looks like) an experience you could never get from Nintendo. You all brought NSMBW level design on to a higher echelon of unique and whacky and I cannot even describe to you as a community how grateful I am that you inspired me to grow up thinking about how I can be creative and innovative and think about level design with a scope of coherency and realism (and this has transferred over to many other parts of myself too). Let me share an anecdote about myself:
I was in primary school when I first encountered these custom level video, it was like crack; it was almost as if I couldn't live without it. In addition, back then, I was smart enough to know that these were fan made, that anybody can make these custom levels and so my small baby brain just yearned at the thought and the amount of ideas I had come up with for a level. So I kept on bingeing, watching every sort of custom level video I can find just to get new ideas for levels and just bottle the, up in my brain. And then I found Yoshillers "how to make a custom level" video. In my head I was elated, the thought in my head was,"I can do it too, with my own stuff, I'd be able to do it??" I tried for days and days, but I must've only been like six or eight at that time; I had no experience with computers nor could I really understand what Yoshiller was saying in the video, but unfortunately there is no happy ending here. The closest experience I had to getting there was seeing the mapping out of World 1-1, but for some reason, I was rendered unable to interact with anything and could not use any assets on the sidebars of the reggie level editor. I was just there, staring at my closest step to greatness, it felt so bleak in the moment. I have probably cried multiple times trying to get this to work out for me and when my ideas started slipping away from me, I pulled out a last resort trick to keep my ideas from leaving me forever, it was the most caveman and primitive idea one could possibly think of: I mapped out the levels on paper. In my class in primary school, I just kept on drawing level designs as my teacher was talking, in fact I'd do something pretty smart and glued multiple A4 pieces of paper together to expand the level on and on and on... And damn did it feel good to have an alternative to have those ideas put down somewhere and since I was limited in what I could do in the first place. There were some times where I'd just look at the level designs I made and just imagined going through them, as weird as it sounds, and it was euphoric.
Honestly I think ever since those days, I've still been slightly addicted to level design and you can only imagine how I feel about Super Mario Maker and Super Worlds... My small brain self, even in 2020 still got a compromise with Super Mario maker, being able to make cool levels (albeit limited) and show them to the world. I am compelled to come back to these videos just to reignite the childlike spark I had back then. I'm 15 now and might consider trying the NSMBW custom levels again and experiment with the spare wiis that my household has literally just collecting dust now. I just want to say thank you again... My childhood without people like you would've just been bland and boring to stare around and now I really cannot live without it, it's been indented into my brain as a doorway to my childhood and nostalgia.

Awesome! Seeing all of those events chaining and all of those doors/unique rooms makes me wonder how the game can handle it all. Also, how do you make the falling clouds never stop falling?

The tools released by the "Newer Team" (those who made "Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii"). It'll consist of a World Map Editor (KoopAtlas) and more. Though, we've now found and labelled most of the new functions concerning the "Newer Sprites", so I will probably continue soon. :)
Its so funny. Back in the old days I was like 6 or so and now I'm modding this game myself. Its quite insane. Thank you for making this, without this level I would never have started modding

Yeah, I concur, the songs and the themes don't always match very good. I guess that's due to the hack being a one-man project. I desperately wanted to publish the level after the 9 months I worked on it, with all its flaws and inconsistencies...

This is gonna be plain awesome. I'll actually have a separate ISO for this stuff. Hope WiiScrubber can get along with importing. I'd use PatchImage but I have no Linux, and Cygwin support is yet to come.
Use WIT (Wiims ISO Tools) for such tasks.

BTW, just had a letter swap and noticed that if you revert each half of "time", you get "item" :-D
Hm... that might actually do for a good puzzle! "To the past, half by half"... Or actually, no No one would identify that as a hint towards "item". It's too mind-bending.
Glitchy but hilarious. Can't wait to see what you can do with the Newer package when it comes out. I caution you to proceed before then, they mentioned that 'pretty much none of the original levels work anymore' :P

You can load this geckocode cheat file with every backup manager or riivolution.

it should work with every original disk. But please remember to get it working you need to replace 2 tilesets. One that comes with the level (Pa3_events_extras) plus the "Text Tileset Mod" tilesets (4 files), which you can download from rvlution. You can also find them at your Reggie! installation folder: \Reggie

Correct, no ASM stuff (I'm not able to add custom sprites, unfortunately). For the Layer2 part: you can make Luigi exit the pipe on Layer0 and Layer2, but that is very glitchy hehe (especially the coins and blocks).
How did you get Sideways Springs? There's no option to do that to normal springs/no sprite for that in NewerSMBW
+Gunner Bones I used the Beta Trampoline Block and placed sideways springs on layer 0 over it. :P
But you could just as good change the sprite layout directly.

What file do I download in the google drive pit of 100 trials link? Do I just download 'The Pit of 100 Trials' or do I also download 'Level and BRSTM'? I know where to put the files.
The BRSTM files are optional because they are the music. You can replace them just like any other file.
Mario Maker wishes it could give rise to this.

Hello,
you will need an original NSMBW disk and a (soft-)modded Wii (you will notice when you have the Homebrew channel), then you can use Riivolution (riivlutionDOTnet) to play custom levels. Without a disk you could also use WiiScrubber to replace the level (v=ZZsDacW_v3k&hd=1). 3rd option is to play it on your PC with an emulator (Dolphin). Please PM me for further questions. :)

I can only say that yes, you are better off waiting until Newer Tools are out. I can't give any more details than that, but your options will increase by 100x :)

I am noobi and trying desperately to get this to work for my son. I have Riivolution and it find NSMB, but when I do install or try to play, it's just the same original game. Do I have to change arc files on my sd card and if so, how do I do this? I feel like I'm so close but can't seem to get that final step. Thanks in advance!

Interesting. My only comments are that the boxes with text look plain, and the part with Luigi on layer 2 is confusing. Not to mention that regular players are unaware of the technical terms, and aren't going to know what 'layer 2' means.
There is a hack called "Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii" which has new things (New enemies, blocks, effects stuff like that) and "Newer Tools" are tools they made the hack with (The custom world maps with Koopatlas, etc. etc.) and modified versions of normal NSMBW hacking tools (Reggie = Newereggie, Puzzle = Koopuzzle etc.).

Hi Zementblock ! I've found the 4 missing tilesets and put them with the pa3 event.... at the texture folder inside the nsmb folder wich is placed on the root of sd card.I've only placed the 01-40 .arc file on nsmb folder. I'm using the nsmbw.xml , But doesn't work at all. What do you suggest me , please?

i havent tried this but i am pretty sure it'll work if you replace mario.arc in objects with luigi.arc using wiiscrubber mario will become luigi however the sounds wont work

Not very far... I'm still testing the behaviour of the NewerSprites. I can't really work on new Levels before I understand them better.
