6-6 is easily one of my favorite levels, getting to control the boat and the light cubes with the secret exit made it one of the most challenging but also unique and memorable levels of any Mario game
Ya know, it’s my favorite level as well but for a different reason. If you are mini Mario before the level, you can sprint on the water for the whole thing. Doing that always made me feel like a speed runner.
It was the same for me in the DS version were the forest world doesnt have it's own music. I like to pretend that the wii forest music played on those levels aswell haha
I have a strange memory of the first castle of this world. I was riding my bike, I think I was like 7 or something, and I passed a trailer and saw them playing it. I was a very shy kid but I just started talking to them through their window since I really liked the game. They were nice to me and then I went on my way.

fun story: for that third star coin, I was out of propeller mushrooms, and since I didn't feel like jumping off the bullet bills, I had to use a mini mushroom. luckily, I like the mini mushroom, so it was easy getting there. then, a couple wall jumps and star coin was mine
Yep. That last small piranha plant won't shrink any sooner. Best to run past it at full speed as soon as it goes down, and to get full speed Mario has to build up speed by running a short distance. Hence why he paused a little before it, and ran with just enough time left for the plant to shrink. The only other option towards shaving off time at that spot would be throwing one of those shelled-creatures (forgetting it's name ATM) to take out the plant. However, getting one of those creatures might add more frames than killing the plant with said creature (instead of waiting and then running by) would shave off. It'd have to be tested...
I love how when anytime there's an auto scroller the tas just finds a way to entertain itself like bringing one of the thingamajigs to the furthest it can go 🤣
