I'm really hoping the panel on base building and crafting gives us a release target. It will probably the first big way game loops interact with each other, with mining and salvage both likely having some significant role to play so they're not just about making money anymore.
@@19iason19 so far this year we’ve pretty much gotten everything they said we would get. In one form (RMQ and meshing on Tech-Preview only) or another. But the years before are in the past. I’m optimistic for the first time since 1.1 dropped.

To the title of this video: They say that every year. I'll give CIG this.. They are masters of hype and marketing. I don't think anyone can argue that.
One thing that i truly believe will not be released, or even teased, is the sand worm, Tomato had some really good points on that, one, the video with the sandworm was about planet tech, not animals, and was showing off what they could do with planets. And two, the planet they showed was well away from systems that have to be created before even getting close to there.
Sounds weird to have a guest from the past in a panel about equipment and clothing. My guess would be that they bring back the helmet flip.. But we will see in a week. Thank you for all the updates!
I think that SM changes a lot more than people think it will. You can't judge progress by what they have delivered so far because most of what they have made cant be added to the PU. The server can't be added to. It's full. SM is needed to allow more content to be added. If SM comes and delivery doesn't change, then criticise. Until then there is not much point. It's like my kids complaining 'we aren't there yet' despite be telling them its going to be a 10 hour drive.
I have no doubt that the presentation and annoucements will look great, however that was true also for last year's and we still don't have many things promised for this year. Personally I only hope for some SQ42 news like a specific release date for 2025 or release of SQ42 right there.
The nice thing about CC is they announce a feature, asset or component.......and its delivered the very next.........amazing, shame they never mention anything about a spoken topic until its released, yet i expect to have my galaxy base building module at IAE, also we'll be getting out NPC Crew and ai Blades, so no worries about CIG's multi-crew push. Awesome
Been playing for 4 years now and practically nothing has changed. Yeh a few ships and a few new game systems but i still get on get frustrated because it’s borderline unplayable and unrewarding then get off. This game is in severe need of any progression system. Also it needs to be playable at bare minimum

I hope we see some good info especially on the social front. They want to encourage multicrew but they should be incentivizing it as well as just not unaliving every other player you come across. There was only been a hand full of times I have encountered a random player outside of armistice zones without them attacking.
Not buying the hype this year. Last year CitizenCon was supposed to be “game changing” and 2024 was supposed to be the big year. And frankly, so far 2024 hasn’t been the year they promised. I’ll be hyped when they actually *deliver* stuff to live, not before.
Personally, when I read the return of an old friend. My first thought was the gold shirt dude, I forgot his name. Being that they were mentioning art, and he was one of the og art directors. Perhaps it is Tessa. I think the Starmap is up to like 120 systems now. I foresee the use of some type of learning system to help create the systems. More so for the initial building. An artist come in after.🇺🇦🇭🇹🇵🇸
We will be looking back at road to 1.0 and laughing in a few years like we do other citcons . They need to prove they can make a game , get sq42 out or quit talking cig
I'm really excited to see that they're going in depth into what the 1.0 release is going to look like. I feel like that will really give us an idea of how close we are to a final release.
I'd love to see MIDI controlled musical instruments. like rust. having in game bands on some of these ships like in a star wars cantina or rock & rule..
They fixed the Connie's table in 3.24.2, which is in Open PTU right now. Can't wait for it to hit Live. The new MFDs (the generic ones) that ships like the Connie got are pretty nice as-is. Hoping to see some RSI-specific MFDs soon enough that will be even better.
I've really enjoyed CitizenCon a lot more since watching it live the past few years. And in-game, every year for the past few years has been better than the previous, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it's going.
I am curious which old ship will get the a rework announced at CitCon on day 2. A "classic" in their words. The Constellation series maybe? Would make sense with the current focus on RSI.
I'm psyched for CitCon, but what you see isn't always what you end up getting (sandworms? helooooo?) so there are a lot of tempered expectations. But, as for SC entering beta? I don't see it happening anytime soon. Okay, CIG may have their own definition of "beta", but there is an actual definition when it comes to software--all the features are in and now it's time to iron out the bugs. There are a lot of features that are supposedly coming that have yet to make an appearance.
As others have said, they will promise a lot of stuff, they will deliver very little changes like every year. Nothing gets done over night, it all takes years and years whenever they discuss a new tech/mechanic.
Do you mean the behind the scenes work or what we can see in the PU. Because you know they can't add much to the PU until SM is in? Nothing moves forward without it.

Then, all they need to do is add big resource-rich areas to compete over ownership. Think jumptown but on every planet, moon, belt, with crazy rich areas of ores, minerals, etc.. that’s literally all we need
predicting crafting expantion base building etc explaining how the eocnomy will eventually function (nope selling boxes to TDD and ADMIN will be replaced with orders for players so they can buy materials to make USABLE products and habitations with the pioneer etc)

Star Citizen was going to launch with less than 30 systems. 30, 40, 50, 100 solar systems were all stretch goals - not part of the initial kickstarter - but back then a 'Star System' was going to be a skybox you load into like Arena Commander or StarField - Arena Commander was the prototype for the skybox players will load into. Physicalized - landable and the ability to exit your ship, explore or fight on foot was also never part of the initial pitch for SC.. those were stretch goals too. When CIG decided to start to work on actually building physicalized solar systems - no procudural objects whizzing past a stationary model to Fake travel (starfield, nomans sky, elite dangerous..etc) they didnt Reduce the number of solar systems ...they just rolled up their sleeves and started to work on their planet building tech and Server Meshing. We are almost at the point where we can see it come together Star Engine set a world record for the longest travel ever captured in any game engine at 6 billion km ..thats a long way from the 16km x 16km the engine was capable of when they got their hands on it
100 Systems @ 1,000,000 Players = 10,000 Players per System. IF 1,000 Players Per Server THEN 10 Servers per System if equally distributed. 100 Systems @ 5,000,000 Players = 50,000 Players per System. IF 1,000 Players Per Server THEN 50 Servers per System if equally distributed. What happens at bottlenecks where 1 station has more than 1,000 Players at it? That Station will need to have more than 1 server handling it. Each Server in a System will be replicating data between servers as players cross boundaries. This will be amazing to see run smoothly.
As far as I understand it, you split the station into 100 pieces and spool up 100 servers for that particular region, ideally without anyone playing noticing.
We will never get 100 systems, By the time Pyro comes out, Likely the end of next year, It will have been 13 years to finish 1 system and get out a 2nd PvP orientated system.

I'm not excited for the 5 n half hour BUS RIDE or it arriving later than i would hope

"100 Star systems in your life time" ahhh you crack me up. It took them 12 years to get two small star systems done.
'Small ones, eh'?. Star Citizen was going to launch with less than 30 systems. 30, 40, 50, 100 solar systems were all stretch goals - not part of the initial kickstarter - but back then a 'Star System' was going to be a skybox you load into like Arena Commander or StarField - Arena Commander was the prototype for the skybox players will load into.
Physicalized - landable and the ability to exit your ship, explore or fight on foot was also never part of the initial pitch for SC.. those were stretch goals too. When CIG decided to start to work on actually building physicalized solar systems - no procudural objects whizzing past a stationary model to Fake travel (starfield, nomans sky, elite dangerous..etc) they didnt Reduce the number of solar systems ...they just rolled up their sleeves and started to work on their planet building tech and Server Meshing. We are almost at the point where we can see it come together

100 Systems @ 1,000,000 Players = 10,000 Players per System. IF 1,000 Players Per Server THEN 10 Servers per System if equally distributed.
100 Systems @ 5,000,000 Players = 50,000 Players per System. IF 1,000 Players Per Server THEN 50 Servers per System if equally distributed.
What happens at bottlenecks where 1 station has more than 1,000 Players at it? That Station will need to have more than 1 server handling it.
Each Server in a System will be replicating data between servers as players cross boundaries. This will be amazing to see run smoothly.
As far as I understand it, you split the station into 100 pieces and spool up 100 servers for that particular region, ideally without anyone playing noticing.
We will never get 100 systems, By the time Pyro comes out, Likely the end of next year, It will have been 13 years to finish 1 system and get out a 2nd PvP orientated system.
@@InquisitorEuro Maybe so, but who needs 100 generic systems when 5 handcrafted ones will do a better job for the most part. Elite Dangerous has too much colonized space and too much lookalike content.
@@InquisitorEuro Considering the tech exists and is being stressed saying next year is likely wrong but also it would mean all the main tech has finally started to release so they can actually start adding in other systems, nyx, terra, magnus and others have been worked on and updates throughout the years.. its not like they haven't touched other game systems or star systems its that they all need the baseline tech which pyro is launching with

Really hope they have an ironed out release date... After a year of polish, not having a defined endpoint, even giving wiggle room for CRT (Chris Roberts Time), is kinda weird.
Dressed to kill -> titan suit? would make sense the atlas is here and its the base.
Looking forward to it I am very interested to see what they say about their ability to create a large number of planets and systems quickly.
