I actually got vocal lessons from him and I asked that question and he said its because screaming takes away a beautiful part of your voice called the falsetta

There aren't many screams in the recorded stuff. Like in their newest album I think he screams like twice. But in the live shows he'll throw in some screams randomly.

On this stage he was drunk, sleep deprived, and reminded me of the word "psycho" but for a song about insomnia is perfect, I love this dude, this is so fricken adorable, him just wobbling around on stage, idk what happened but it was perfect for a song bout insomnia, man done screamed his sanity out, can this get any better?

I know he incorporates screams into songs that don't normally have screaming in live shows. Some songs have screaming but not most. Maybe in their new record there will be more screaming aspects.
