Fugitive is basically adaptive difficulty if you're dying every so often you'll have a balanced time somewhat but if you're playing expertly, you're getting pre-fire aimbotted before you know they are even there.
Hey, pretty nice video. It's a refreshing direction you took with you just talking over game footage with no music or obnoxious editing. I also want to add a few words about the game myself. You've mentioned some early development stuff in this video, and I have to say I really like that they scaled down the craziness and grounded the experience. Not only did it help them at the time, you know, a "realistic gritty story" was probably a good selling point in 2001 amidst all the other fantasy/sci-fi/milsim games being released, but it also just helps to take in the game nowadays. Despite a lot of the early side characters being ridiculous caricatures of the Sopranos cast and a lot of the gameplay being rather off, it still makes for a much unique experience as a whole. It really is one of the few games where atmosphere just consistenly glues the whole thing together. Whoever did the sound design, especially the ambiance, deserves all the praise. And once again, nice video. It was real relaxing to watch.
i was like 12y old smt, it was scary game, already at the beginning :D Ofc it was pretty hard game at that time. And man i love the comic book lookish style lore.
I can't tell you how much I love Max Payne. At least once a year I relook at the Max Payne story and games. Mainly the first two since I wasn't a big fan of Max Payne 3. But I know not everyone would agree with me on that one. But yeah I think Max Payne 1 hasn't aged well in a lot of areas. It can be junky and unfair at times.
Surprised there was no mention of The Matrix, a huge influence at the time of this games release. Not just a game based around the concept of bullet-time but to level design. The last chapter for instance.
I gave up on it but I was able to do a pretty much no damage run on DOA with no quick saves. Each chapter I finished with all 8 painkillers except a couple times! I got into the Aesir building and spent time at that beginning but that chapter alone is brutal. Someday I’ll return.
Im sorry but i just never understand why people talk about how hard this game is but its not that hard for me, maybe dead on arrival, but fugitive is ez
i loved it when max payne said "it's payning time" and payned all over

Big different in audio between Ashes and this one; nice work :D Super keen on your work - do you speak off the cuff or on a script?
I usually speak from a script, but I will add stuff if it doesn't sound great.

Shotgun bad? Sounds like skill issue. It's literally a sniper.
