BMW N52 Oil Leak | Check these bolts!

- Apparently, the forward head bolts that go into the timing cover area like to lose their heads on the N52. I found this by accident looking fro the broken bolt heads to my intake vanos unit. Thankfully the aluminum bolts weren't stuck and I was able to back them out with some persuasion.

What size flat head did you use bro? Great concept for the broken screws too. I’m working on a n52 engine myself.
It was 5mm across. So it would fit in the bolt hole.
How would you rate N52's reliability?
I thought it's better then N55.

Realistically it’s a very reliable platform. However this is a good example of what happens when not maintained. I think that’s the biggest issue I’ve run into.

N52 is very reliable but certain years had many recalls. I drove 5 different N52 and still have two. The worst is my X5 2008 with bolt recalls and common E70 issues. Worst. platform by the way but great to drive once fixed.
