BMW's. I love BMW's. Plus lot's of other car and shop projects!
I took apart my first motorcycle when I was 12 (After I seized it) and since then I’ve been hooked on anything with a motor. I worked at auto shops throughout High School before pursuing my training at UTI (Universal Technical Institute) in Phoenix, AZ. I completed my training there before moving onto the BMW Step School in Orlando, FL. I was employed by BMW Dealerships in CA & WA as a Master Technician from 2002-2012. I parted ways with cars as a profession but have continued to pursue them as a passion. I’ve owned more vehicles than I care to admit and my 2 boys are getting pretty into them now. They are a source of encouragement as I pursue documenting my motorsport passions! Along the way I'll also be completing a number of DIY projects that I'll document here. There really isn't a project I won't take on. Thanks for checking out the channel!

ebay Broke My Car! | E70 N52 Vanos Repair
You read that correct. Ebay. Broke. My. Car. Well, kind of. It was really the cheap parts I bought off a seller on Ebay. I should have known it was too good to be true at that price.

Future refrence i'm in Utah but just looked up places in phoenix that sells insulation by the pallot for 10x cheaper than the homedepot every state has a direct insulation buyer
Dang 10x. Willing to share the name of the place you found?
At the service they only change the oil pan and the oil 🤦♂️ , i don't want only that !!
You could request the additional seals as part of the service. Realistically it should only add a minimal amount of labor charge.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds They have so called mechatronic rebuilt which cost 1000€
@@smamas114 Wow, that's a lot. Are they replacing the solenoids for that much? On my car I had to do the Job twice. After this video, I had a solenoid fail around 400 miles later and had to pull it all back apart again.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds I think they will change them only if they are bad , i am going to ask them this question
So much work! 👍 good thing you know all this stuff. 😊
It was a rediculous amount of work. I didn't know this system before, but now I know it very well. 😁
Good video mate well explained and detailed, bit of advice for future try and cut similar videos down to 25-30 minutes which should help them get picked up by the algorithm, you deserve more views Loved the comparison showing the loss of length the old ones have, lets you see straight away how it could be causing all sorts of pressure related problems
Thanks for the comment! Appreciate the insight as well. It's tough to cut the videos down and keep enough content not to leave someone without a crucial step. I'm still learning to put together a video though and I agree.
Those brass inserts will disintegrate with RO water. Best to use plastic everything.
I didn't know that. What causes the brass to fail?
@@DrivingForwardBuilds ro water is extremely aggressive. Stainless or plastic are best. If you Google it, it will do a better job explaining than what I could type here.
Did you replace just the O ring? Or sight glass too?
I replaced both.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds thank you I have a issue mine doesn’t have those bolts do you have any idea how take it off?
@@davidbarrera781sorry. I haven’t seen one without the bolts. Does it twist off?
@@DrivingForwardBuilds I found the way I have to use Ring Pliers
Makes me want a project. Nice work!
Thanks!
I drain into a clean new $5 bucket from lowes. Then pour it right back into the engine.
I had a bucket ready to go but in this case I figured an additional change might help with my Vanos issues.
Thanks for this video I was confused my 255 fuel system had no instructions and your video saved me from calling aces
Glad it helped
Wish you had gone through the setup menu slower and explained all the options instead of skipping some over
I’ll take that into account next time. Thanks for the feedback.
Will this tpms reset work on a 2013 f350 super duty truck?
It should be the same system. Key on, hit hazard switch 3 times and the horn will honk. Then you can go through the learning process.
Thank you.
If you swap tires/wheels from one truck to another does this process still work to resync the new set of tires and pressure gauges?
That’s a good question, that I have not yet addressed. Couldn’t hurt to give it a shot.
How are you getting 19 out of a 6.7 we have two 6.7’s deleted with a economy tune and best they get is 14
It’s not deleted or tuned. I just drive and it rewards me with this mileage.
Valvetronic Motor.
That’s a good thought.
Insurance won’t cover theft because of keys in vehicle 😂
@@user-rv6pg4kf9u what keys? lol.
Like most of our friends have indicated, I too greatly appreciate the to-the-point tutorial. Thank you very much for the content and I pray you have a blessed day!
You're very welcome! God bless!
I have an oil leak now at the pump of manifold. After I had changed oil rings and valves plus gaskets rings. A real tuneup for the Triple A pump but jinx after pouring the pump oil. It leaked the next day. I guess there is an oil ring not placed right. Any suggestions for a female at work.
Is the leak coming from the front sight glass or the pump body? O-rings are easy to pinch and possibly one isnt seated right.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds it’s the body because I did change all rings even the three oil rings that sit way in the back. I’m gonna have to take apart and see which oil ring not placed right. If not oil and water will mix up. I wished it were only the window would have been an easy fix. lol 😂
@@RubyLES1dang. I’ve been there before. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and take it back apart. Hope you find the leak.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds yes thanks I do need much luck 🍀. Good day
Saved me a ton of headache AND heartache - thank you, sir!
Bro, that is very generous of you. Thank you so much. Glad I was able to help and you got it done!
That looks like a great man trap.
Accurate.
For the fuel filter, can i expect the same part/work with a 525i?
Yup, they are the same part across the 5 series, 7 and X of this generation. 13321709535
Does anyone know if there's a difference in the intake and exhaust vanos Phaser? I bought an x3 with exhaust Phaser codes. Pulled the valve cover and both phasers have the same part number which come back as intake phasers.
The intake and exhaust phaser/vanos units are different(intake-11367583207) (exhaust-11367583208). The impulse wheels are the same.
Where are you located
Phoenix.
Great Maintenance Video!
Thanks buddy! Hope you're really enjoying that new ride!
Any updates on the system? I really want to get it but I’m very skeptical
The has been working great. It was really getting it all tuned that was the issue.
Awesome video and editing 👍🏾
@@wrxnfx127 thank you. Appreciate the feedback.
He there, i have almost the Same Transmission in my M3... I tried "normal" ATF and Shifting went from Nightmare to almost like New...
I’ll have to give that a try. Thanks!
I know this is an old video but I am upgrading as well right now and I have already hit issues. How were these JL speakers with the volume up? Did you ever notice these speakers clipping out or popping? I have the B&O in my 22' Lariat and I bought some decent Infinity Reference 6x9's and the audio was SOOOO much better. However, within the first few days, I eventually made it through the playlists to some thumping songs and the speakers I installed started clipping out at loud sound levels. I measured the power and I wasn't exceeding watts and the ohms match. But above Volume 20 the speakers began cutting out really bad every time the bass hit, with a loud pop. So now I'm looking for "better" speakers to try. I wasn't trying for increased quality of a multi-amp setup. Honestly, I just thought that the stock B&O sounded muddy, no matter the EQ settings and so I was looking for more crisp highs than the stock paper cones are capable of without having to run wire for component speakers. Thanks for the info!
I'll be honest, what you're describing sounds like what my original speakers were doing. Though I don't think I cranked the volume quite that high. I believe the factory amp has some attenuation of the signal at higher volumes to protect the speakers built into the logic. I wonder if that could be the case for he sound?
Thank you for all the tips and very good information you shared… God bless you always.
@@marlonjose5921 thank you and God Bless.
I have Ford truck 1833d can you show us how to reset oil service
Hmm, that’s a commercial truck right? I’d love to get my hands on one of those.
Hello Sir, Are you interested to do SEO in your videos for more views and SUBS or boosting by google ads ?
No thanks, I do this for fun.

Are they better or worse?
Good job
Thanks!
Great video as always! Thanks for showing all the steps. 👍👍😊
Thanks and appreciate the comment!
@@DrivingForwardBuilds FYI the camera jumped out of focus while you were showing the connector de-pinning process.
@@kakashi_copyninja7 I noticed that after editing. I did what I could in post to fix it but by then it was too late. Sometimes I forget to set my focal point as I'm working.

350,000 miles is the limit for a GM 3100 V6 broke the cam in half during a 1-2 manual shifted, red line shift. . that poor 99 buick..... my 2nd engine has either dropped the chain, or broke the cam again. . none of the valve seen through oil cap and PCV holes move..... . so onto the 3rd engine.......this is the GM 60 degree life
Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
That was one of the more intersting engine timing proceedures i've done. Bring your multimeter!
Right. You can’t just lock it down and go.
Ha! Jokes on you. All my stuff is big cube, low power ancient iron boat anchors. No plastic! 😂 But no, great video.
I do love good ole boat anchor displacement. Add a snail and smoke some tires.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds I can't wait to start on my Grandad's old Bumpside F100 . Numbers matching.
whats your opinion of timing gears
Mine ha gears
Gear to gear is the ultimate setup. Very little chance of failure.
@DrivingForwardBuilds that's what I run on my sbc400
How often should I replace my chains ad guides?
@@JSquaredCubing for this car you’re looking at between 80-120k typically. Sometimes much later if well maintained like this car.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds German engineering is just so much better 😂
@@johnmosesbrowningsrightnut8642It is, and I don't think anybody else is close. Although when it comes to cupholders they over engineer
@@notSalaried German engineering is dogshit, this video (and comment thread) is exhibit A. No engine should need to be pulled apart at 80-120k miles. Engine disassembly is not maintenence, it's a rebuild due to shitty designs, period. The absolute worst engines Ford, GM, and Dodge have made need teardowns at 100k. Germany doesn't even have the best engineering in the EU 😂
This type of failure is common place on all engines with overhead cams. American, German, Asian. They all have plastic guides that wear. Prolonged oil changes just make it worse.
I love the episode name!! First thing that came to mind was, da da da du du da duh, da da da du du da duh, dang ding!
@@JSquaredCubing “Under Pressure”.
106 degrees inside is still 106 degrees lol. That’s wayyy to hot
No doubt it’s hot. I really need an ac company to sponsor me.
😂😂
🎉
Dang 😮
@@user-zf6dj3hw6q right? These were beat.
When they fail, the engine will lift up under high torque, and the radiator fan will hit the shroud, chucking fan blades in all directions at very high speeds, even denting the hood from the inside out.
@@SovereignMan85 Thankfully these hadn't fully separated or I would have had much bigger problems. I've seen these blades do a lot of damage.
are you using low voltage disconnect module or just inverter?
I'm using the inverter that came with the panel. I do have a disconnect switch, but it's manual for working on the system.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds is it bad for the battery running only on the inverter low voltage disconnect?
@@wyrdscynce I'm not entirely sure. I wired mine up per the Renogy instructions.
Good choice of speakers. I'm with you as loss of hearing is a pain. From other videos that I've watched, speakers don't do much for the B and O system as it's programmed by Ford to sound a certain way.
Thanks for commenting!
So true!! But…..ok it’s a problem!😔
😀
lol once all the parts come in the fun parts over 😝. There’s nothing like waiting on parts in the mail.
For real. It's exciting getting everything in. Then the overwhelmed feeling takes over. 🙂
