BMW's. I love BMW's. Plus lot's of other car and shop projects!
I took apart my first motorcycle when I was 12 (After I seized it) and since then I’ve been hooked on anything with a motor. I worked at auto shops throughout High School before pursuing my training at UTI (Universal Technical Institute) in Phoenix, AZ. I completed my training there before moving onto the BMW Step School in Orlando, FL. I was employed by BMW Dealerships in CA & WA as a Master Technician from 2002-2012. I parted ways with cars as a profession but have continued to pursue them as a passion. I’ve owned more vehicles than I care to admit and my 2 boys are getting pretty into them now. They are a source of encouragement as I pursue documenting my motorsport passions! Along the way I'll also be completing a number of DIY projects that I'll document here. There really isn't a project I won't take on. Thanks for checking out the channel!

I hope that woman isn’t expecting a surgical mask to be filtering her intake air. Surgical masks only catch exhaled particles!
Would love to know what epoxy was used. I’d like to slap that on my crack before I go and swap everything over in a new tank
Here is the kit I used originally. amzn.to/4aw2UUM I think had I drained the tank and put a little more effort into the repair it would have lasted, but since there was fuel permeating through the crack it didn't set properly. But at the time, I knew I wanted to find a replacement tank and just wanted to get the car back on the road. Here is that video- ruclips.net/video/rw-s2czubDk/видео.html
Any issues with your stock amp powering these speakers? Clipping at high volume?
I didn’t have any issues. Though honestly I didn’t turn it way up.
I just had a hard plastic one installed on my truck, and while im driving down the highway, it ripples . Do you have the same problem with the aluminum cover?
This cover doesn't move at all. Holds really tight and stays in place.
Hands down one of the best channels I've seen for auto repair. Thank you for being thorough, exact and for cutting to the chase! Also, kudos for doing it "the right way" instead of cutting corners. I'll be tackling this fun project in the next several weeks!
Very much appreciate the comment. Good luck with your repair.
Great Tip 🏁
🏁 👍
All those wires look ugly. Even if this camera is practical, I don't think people with nice cars would want this aesthetic.
Can’t disagree with you there.
Great review, pretty cool how much better your sons welds were on the Vulcan.
Thanks, we were really impressed with it. Now, a year later the welder is still kicking strong.
I always make one wrap around my torch hand and have it drapping around my neck , that works for me no strain on anything !
Smart.
thank you for all the training and information. Thank your replying so fast too.
Glad to help!
Did you notice much fof a power gain with the intake mods ?
@@johnnypenhale5743 in”feel like yes”. It’s a huge improvement in throttle response, that was only made better with a tune!
Nice thanks the reply im in the process of resemble of my car at the moment...you're vanos replacement works have been a great help After its running right i will be doing the intake mods
@@johnnypenhale5743 Awesome. Take your time and enjoy the process, it's very rewarding.
did you purchase the machine or you rented? did you get it at homedepot?
@@smarroqu I rented it from Home Depot. If you purchase enough insulation the 24hr rental is free. If you happen to purchase enough for a free rental but more than you need you just return the unused insulation and still have a free rental ;-)
Thank you!! Very helpful video. Do you need a metal line coming out of the radiator, since the air is now much cooler? I’m gonna do something similar, but with braided line maybe, and it’s expensive. Can I just use rubber hose for the line from radiator to tank?
As you point out the air is much cooler there. I would think as long as the line can handle the pressure and what little oil might bypass the pump you’ll be good. If it doesn’t work you’d certainly hear it. I over crimped my connection to the tank and it broke after a few cycles and blew off. It was an easy fix though. I just resent the line and tightened back down.
Great video. Stupid exhaust tips.
I agree. I know. Function over form. With my new mufflers I’ve been able to stay under the sound limits and considering installing dual tips again.
They are awesome! We really love them! Thank you!
Awesome! They really do make a big difference!
I have a concern about this particular radiator. (Yes, I know others use the same one.) At each end the tubes attach to another with 180 loops. but it looks like half go to a lower tube but half go to a higher tube. Doesn't water collect in the lower tubes leading to higher ones? Aren't you blowing air thru partially water filled tubes? It's obviously working but would you be better served by a radiator that only flowed in a level to downward direction? I'm asking as I want to do something similar but would like to not have water "trapped" in the tubes. Thanks for your thoughts.
I’m not sure that the water would actually collect as there is a constant flow of air moving through the tubes. That and the air moving through is very hot. The tubes are continuous as well leading me to believe any water that may be trapped will push through to my first separator.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds Thanks for the quick response!
@@Happily_retired glad to help.
Thank you for your insight.
You're welcome!
I really like those, but the price combined with only a 1 year warranty makes me hesitant.
I can hear you there. I'm sure I'll have a long-term update on these in the future. So far, from my experience, they are well-built, and everything went on the truck without a hitch.
Will this cause the battery to drain? Thanks. Good video!
Not sure how that could be. These are all mechanical components.
Uh yah! I’m short so maybe someday Boost Auto will send you the fold down for mine :) 😁 This set up is amazing! Dad loves them. Me too :) you and your assistant (Judah) Rock !
These really are amazing.
if you are worried about your door clearance you could add some 10" C-Channel to the whole length of the trailer the web on 10" C-Channel should give you an additional 2" of clearance which I think is all you need for your door clearances to be comfortable and my eyeball math (as a welder) says that if you trim that 2.00" of channel off across 24.00" you should have around 5 degree's of incline which *** should *** be in line with even longer ramps. Seeing as you have a welder you may want to make your own ramps for your purposes as well.
This is good insight. My long-term plan was to either cut off the end of the trailer and add a longer dovetail or just extend it. Building ramps works but anything longer than 7' would have to be stored on the deck and I like getting them out of the way underneath.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds If you use 12.00" C-Channel with a 3.00" Web I am fairly certain 10.00" with a 2.00" Web will fit under it. Add some hinges or a coped cover to it. Then you can store your ramps under the 3.00", and your ramps can be almost as long as the trailer bed. Personally I wouldn't do the hinge's, I'd make a bolt on cover plate with a pair of tabs on either side, when in use snug them down, to drive on. Pop the 2 bolts off on either side slide your ramps back in torque them down. Now your ramps are out of site and you can use the area under your trailer to store an extra trailer tire or a small dedicated toolbox.
Looks like a big upside to using fiberglass would possibly be less dust although id prefer cellulose myself.. And only if I were doing a finished interior of a home.
It definitely makes for a cleaner install.
don't need 10 foot ramps just find an incline area you can even make the ramps level depending the area you find. ofc you'll have to unload it the same way but honestly not hard to find usually.
You’re correct that would work well. I could use my driveway to aid in loading but for me I always load and unload on level ground at the racetrack which necessitates the longer ramps.
you didn't clean the glass?
I had previously cleaned it, but I failed to mention that while filming. Good catch.
Oh and PS My F350 is called The Beluga. She’s a crew cab long bed and she’s white. My wife and boys love the name Beluga.
I like that name!
We just changed both F350 Batteries yesterday at OReillys. I was Dead Bad Battery on primary starter battery. We did it wrong. We did both simultaneously.
I’m sure with a stone dead battery there was little impact. Sounds like you’re back on the road though!
Of course your dad would love a camera! That really adds a lot to that kIA!
I thought he might!
This car is looking really good!
Thanks!
This looks like a great way to keep old cars on the road. Thanks for sharing!
For real. It’s so simple and it gives you a lot of options.
Looking forward to seeing it at the track!
It's gonna be an exciting year!
Perfect guy to review a lift…one who owns a pile bmw and will need to work on it all the time 😂
@@caseyeldridge5557 well, can’t say you’re wrong. This lift has gotten its fair amount of use!
Well CB&CB had nice views of the peaks and valleys and the food was good too! Senor taco wasn't bad either
Thats rad. Sounds like it was a good trip! I have been all over the valley the past week. Hope you enjoyed the weather:-)
how would i find an installer near me
It's a pretty straightforward install to take on as a DIY, or even a local independent shop could easily handle it.
Next video , repair a N53 ...
I'd love to get my hands on one.
Next time remove the generator first thing
That would certainly give me ample space. But then I'd have to buy more darn aluminum bolts. 🙂
Amazing home garage setup you got there and it's so nice to see your son and you bonding over car stuff! Happy New Year to both of you! :)
@@Sk8er1337 thanks! I’m really enjoying both of them becoming young men. Happy New Year and thanks for the comment.
Great assistant! 😊 very optimistic :)
I think so too!
Wow that's Kool 👌
Thanks!
I can not stop watching the video!!! Just love them!!! ❤ I just smile driving with these running boards!!!
I’m glad you are enjoying them!
Huge help! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have a aftermarket undercoat on the bottom of your truck? do you just live somewhere where there is no salt?
No Coating, just live in the sun here in Arizona.
Great video with very helpful information. Thank you!
Thanks!
I’m pretty sure I hear the fuel pump whir under the rear passenger’s seat, and my E90 still cranks but won’t start. I think I checked all fuses and relays and cleaned the MAS sensor Not starting makes it much harder to drive.
These cars sure are complicated. I would focus on the basics. Fuel, Air, Spark. If those checkout, then it's time to dig into electronic faults. We are currently dealing with a CAS failure on my son's E90. Starts and then shuts down after one second, with a weird clicking from the fuse box.
@ I’m trying to figure out INPA but it’s all in German. Thought I installed the language packs but 🤷🏻♂️. I’m not one percent the mechanic you are. But I’m without a car, which means no dating.
@@samgod Well, you are a step ahead of me with INPA. I've tried to load it in the past and have not been able to get it to work. I was thinking of buying it from one of the plug and play sources with it loaded on an external drive.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds I used Mike's Easy Installer that installs INPA, and several other tools and does all the confirmations.
@@samgod Dude, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing. Any idea if it will run in Windows on a Mac? I'm definitely at the point in my journey where I need to man up and get Ista running in the shop.
If an abs module is bad, would you reccomend to bypass it to activate the abs pump just to bleed? (goona send module off for rebuild -2000 528i with no precharge pump) or willl it not work because the intake and outake valves also need to be manipulated. I hear you can disconnect abs and send off for rebuild and still use brakes. Great video. I recently rebuilt my calipers. Wish I had found this first. Some great tips. w
When dealing with the braking system it's always best to err on the side of caution. Technically the ABS unit is a pass through. Meaning your brakes work regardless of if the electric module is there. That is unless there is a mechanical failure of one of the solenoids in he closed position. The purpose of bleeding the ABS module and using the pump is to avoid any bubbles that may be lodged in there. If using a pressure bleeder without activating anything electronically I would also add in manually pumping the brakes and starting the vehicle to get boost pressure while bleeding. 9 out of 10 times you'd get all the air out.
😂❤
The work is impressive Is the Amazon Disa valve still working well??
Yes it is! Thanks for the comment.

Hows the sound deadening from doing this?
Noticeable. Combined with insulating my doors it’s much quieter. My air compressor used to be much more noticeable outside.
