Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, the third GBA game in the series, was released in May 2003 but takes place in 2035. Soma Cruz, a high school exchange student in Japan, visits a shrine to observe a solar eclipse, and is suddenly transported to Dracula's castle along with others. For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.

I am very glad at SGDQ '14 they took away from comments and donation incentives. Mike and Spike talked over some of the best tricks in this run. I watched it so I could learn some tricks, and Jesus, they talked about donation prizes and the gunblade, overthe best potential commentary moments. I feel they picked the absolute worst possible times to advertise.
At least they noticed this issue, and improved upon this.
I used to have a cartridge of this game that did not save. I become so good at it that i would finish it from beginning to end in one playthrough just like this. Replayability is the awesome thing about Castlevania games.

The donation reader / announcer should be a little more quite when a short game is running, you just have to blink to miss an important thing.
There is enough time during longer speedrun without taking the runner the time to explain an awesome trick, the comments of the donations are awesome and touching to hear but they don´t run away so fast like a short speedrun around half an hour of a game that takes hours normally.
Yuubi Timberwolf but the runner and all his friends can talk non stop? The donation reader needs to let people know where these 6 figures amount of money in the end come from. That's pretty fucking important, not to mention peoples comments with the donations i'm sure they want heard. i'm not saying he needs to talk all the time but when he gets cut off they need to every once in a while need to maybe say 'sorry' but i guess. Or a system needs to be worked out to where the runner gives the donation reader the ok to do so, so he doesn't have to nervously assume he's able to at random times.

did you watch the video at all? The announcer literally left no time for the people to explain the run. The run isn't even 20 minutes long. I can guarantee there were better times to be reading off these long donations and prize explanations than one of the shortest runs.

Well i still revisit it from time to time, and every time i pick it up i go thru the entire thing (i basicly got it 100% memorized, yet i still play it)
You have me beat on Aria of Sorrow playtime. SotN though I have a few thousand hours total. I got almost 99 of all drops so far and glitched a world record of over 410% on a file on my 360. I just hope the power outage in my room caused by a faulty wired outlet didn't wipe my harddrive D:

Commenting about the "border dispute" @27:00 or so:
Why have a border AT ALL? Just zoom the screen in (which is a feature of the GCN GBA Player) so you don't see the border and instead just get a bigger game?
So I can always get to the claihm but after that I cannot pull off the last set of zips. Any advice on how exactly to do it? I end up having to do the good endings in my runs which takes 2 mins longer if I do it perfectly.
All these zips makes me want to try running this game :)

I've been running aria lately and can't figure out how to record runs with a gba sp. Any advice would be much ablidged. I'm trying to figure out how to project the sp onto the screen and just screen capture but I don't think this to be possible currently so yeah. Thanks!

Do these skips work on emulated versions of the game? I attempted the first skip and was unsuccessful, was it the timing or the pixels? Or does it simply not work on an emulated version?
everything works on emulator. Its just not that easy to do glitches and bugs, despite some weebo hipster commentators seem to think.
I've been able to replicate this up until the bat glitching through the wall, how do you do that, I've looked it up and can't find it anywhere.

First time I've ever been annoyed by the runners talking over the announcer. Usually it's the other way around.
djpheeze watch pokemon snap. i forget the runner. just look for the tall lanky bastard on the couch behind him. they really should keep the creeps off the couch...

how to do the wall glitch at 20:59?
Storm Bass to do the glitch there are 2 ways. I prefer facing away from the wall, wavedash back towards the wall and instantly transform into the bat. Again instantly transform back into human form while holding down. Once you are stuck in the wall you have to press wavedash bat transform and the opposite direction of the wall. In this case it would be right. This step is frame perfect and the 3 buttons must be pushed perfectly together. The other way to get stuck in the wall is run towards the wall bat transform hold down and Insta human transform. Keep holding down and while you're crouched spin to face away from the wall. I personally like wavesashing into the wall, he prefers this method it's all personal preference. Message me if you have any more question on how to do it.

For announcing donations while there's talking about the runs, how about a scrolling news feed at the bottom? If it's that far behind just keep it going and have the announcer pick up wherever it's at whenever they can.

When you do the Shop Glitch you can get 250 potions instead of 249 but i never knew how i did it and if you mess up(by missing the spot you have to press) all your items multiply by the number of your potions.
I just finished the game today. I was so close to 100% secrets😭
For my tablet it was just disabled to show annotations, in case thats true for you aswell.

AMAZING, thanks for running AoS! Next time you do a marathon, why not post donations to a ticker along the bottom of the stream rather than reading them all? The commentary is great, especially on glitchy runs like this.

Man this run was annoying. I was really interested in learning about the tricks in the game, not seeing the Gunblade being waved around and listening to the donation announcer constantly yammer on.
Are you actually being serious right now? They showed the gunblade for like 30 seconds and honestly most of the time the speed runners talk about one or two tricks and the donation announcer talks the majority of the time. In this run he read like 4 donations.
He literally just shouted about other runs for half the run.

This is any% category. There is the 100% category as well. Plus it's a speedrun and the point is speed. Glitches are permitted.

A lot of runs are distinguished between glitched and non-glitched, or sometimes "100% run," look for those if you want to see completely legitimate runs

True but CS hits twice or multiple times (depending on the enemy) & has holy damage so it does a bit more DPS. At least from my experience. Still both are good
