Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, the first Castlevania game on DS, was released in October 2005. Dawn of Sorrow is a direct sequel to the GBA Aria of Sorrow, taking place a year after the events of that game. The leader of a cult, seeking to resurrect Dracula, attacks Soma, who then follows her to the cult's base. Gameplay builds off the mechanics of Aria of Sorrow and is similar to Symphony of the Night, with equippable swords, RPG-style leveling up, and gaining souls from enemies in place of magic. For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.

Did ANYTHING go right in this run? I feel bad for the runner. Luck screwed him over so much.
The guy messing up the seals so many times really grinds my gears. He has a lot of time to connect all the dots.
The progress lost on that Paranoia death was just gut-wrenching.
How are they getting the video from the DS to the stream?

@16:25 you can go into the "Mine of judgement" area without going into that room. Just equip cutall right outside the room with the black flame, stand at the edge of it, do a special attack with it, pause the game when you are on the other side of the screen, hit magic seal 1, don't practice it, just cancel it, exit the menu and bingo!, you are teleported into the area, right below were Julius is seen (if done wrong it corrupts your memory and you are blasted off-screen all over the map - you might have a chance with Sleep mode, but it's very slim).
This is a no zips run. The no zips run is under 10 minutes.
Not as far as I know. Speed runner Romscout may know the answer. The main reason however is that you need to use certain souls to complete the game (that's without abusing Out of Bounds glitches).
Farming for a certain soul can be very quick or very long, so it's a bit inconsistent. That's why New Game Plus run are easier to execute than fresh file runs because of the lack of soul farming.

Oh man, I would love to run this sometime. I've put about 50 hours into it recently trying to get 9 of every soul and item.
Not bad. But for a sure fire succubus glitch, I like to use the Alucard Sword.
The donations were really obnoxious. Hoping for a text ticker on-stream for AGDQ2014, with a high minimum donation amount for readings.
You still unlock Julius mode from the good ending even if you don't get the 2nd bad ending.

@Soma Raid I can understand your confusion, but remember that he contioually switches up his sousl and weapons. I understand you're thinking "chalima, robe, chaos ring/clown, werewolf, ???" but on the side what would it be "cuttar" or "axe"? black panther? he woudl contiually be switching. plus black panther is a bit of a confusing one because both setups would use it. My questions is why isn't he using devil/valymery? that setup is very mobile and powerful.
Wait, WTF? How do you capture off of a 3DS??? Can you also capture the screens for each individual eye, place them reversed on a video (so the left eye's screen on the right side and the right eye's screen on the left side) so that you can emulate the 3D by crossing your eyes?

It would be hardcore luck based... You could get each soul when you want it, or you could end up killing the same enemy 50 times without getting the soul...
I think the most enjoyable New Game speed run would be a TAS :/

Oh, NVM...they actually explain the capture device, lol. But WTF, the capture device itself costs $50 more than a brand new 3DS XL?!? How is it SO expensive??? Guess they only wanna sell it to dedicated streamers, I guess...**sigh**
macgeek2004 I think it is because every single capture device is installed manually (they are not mass produced at all also). Also the shipping itself is really expensive cause you have to send your device to japan i think.
