Metroid Prime 2: Echoes was released in mid-November 2004. Samus lands on the planet Aether to investigate missing Federation troops and finds a world with a split-personality. In the dark version of the world, she takes damage just from the air and faces an evil black goo called the Ing that can possess all sorts of creatures. Source: speeddemosarchi...
For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.

if the guy in the blue shirt reads this comment just know that i really enjoyed your commentary, people are judging you for your weight which is completely absurd. you're awesome dude keep coming to the GDQ events

His name is ParaXade0
Loved the whole "Screw This, I'm outta here!" thing with the Alpha Splinter.
Watching this is a HUUUUUGE nostalgia trip for me. I hadn't played this game since it first came out, back in 2004 (I was 14 years old!) so I haven't seen this for a good 10 years. Man, this brings back memories. Bitter, precious memories of this painful, brutally difficult, amazing game.
the nostalgia for the first prime ( I was like 6) is even worse for me
Boost Guardian Hard Mode: Toughest boss in the entire trilogy.
Alpha Blogg always ruined my playthroughs. No save point for ages but Boost was hell if you didn't know what you were doing.
Hanlet Escano Not even kidding, spider guardian made me shed some tears.
Yeah, the Spider Guardian was killer for everyone. I literally had to stop playing for awhile to muster up courage to beat him lmao.
Thankfully the Prime Trilogy version makes the bosses more tolerable. Still hard, but worth it. Also the Alpha Blogg; in my opinion, is the worst boss in the game because not only that your backslide move works 50 percents at the time, but I swear that sometimes when I hit missiles in his mouth perfectly, the game acts like it didn't take damage. That is annoying.
I was finding the bosses not that hard (Trilogy version), then I found out "normal" difficulty is actually "easy", and GC version had no spring ball, now I feel like I was cheating
i can't believe he skipped the item loss in the beginning...that's the nuttiest shit ever
iamnotascientisi well they didn't intend for 100% completion this time
no shit
iamnotascientisi It's even crazier how it's done now, about a year ago someone found a literal hole in the ceiling you can just jump out of to get out of bounds.
I don't know about you guys but I dont care as much for these guys beating the game fast but rather seeing them breaking the shit out of the game. This guy could have done the worst speed run for this game and I wouldn't mind just because of how awesome he is at breaking it and making it his bitch.
sdasds sadsd Lol, the hell?
I agree with you 100%. (yes I know this comment is 3 years old.
So I think the reason why the infinity speed and cutscene trigger work to set you OOB is because once the 2nd cutscene ends, Samus’ vertical position in Temple Ground is some distance less than the top of that shaft. Theoretically the new position would be negative to the new room (Hive Chamber A), so probably why it ends up sending you to the bottom of that room’s box. I love this game so much and this run is a huge nostalgic moment 😩
Man, it was so satisfying seeing Boost Guardian get one-shotted.
Note: This video is originally in 60fps. When you see the ball not moving when he's doing the morph ball glitch in the beginning, it's actually flipping between two states at 60fps in the original video- it's very impressive if you've got the connection to watch the whole video!
Thanks for the upload!
I never get tired of watching you guys show us how utterly broken these games are. Thanks for the uploads and good laughs!!
This so depressing
Feel bad for them
I could watch these guys all day. And don't forget the sarcastic guy in the back! "Oh hey corner!"
10:17
“Could you maybe explain how moving in out of bounds works?”
Everyone: “uuUUgHGhHUuHH”
Hilarious.
Absurd. These videos should have way more views.
These guys are so thoughtful and polite, the way they clapped at 10:07 reminded me of the Queen of England
Most common quote when speedrunning games with out-of-bounds and/or glitches..... "For some reason...." lol
it could be connection. Try letting it load for a little while.
welcome to the family
11 minutes in... already has dark beam and power bombs.
RESPECT!
100% isn't near as broken as any%, but it's very different and entertaining all the same. go watch miles's run on SDA.
Great stuff. Really hoping for a MP3 speed run in the future from Miles.
Imagine if they did speed runs on the treadmill!
The middle guy has a bone on for Thilver.
awesome! thank you! I've been looking for this run for a long time.
Now I am nowhere near as good as miles but I still have learned a thing or two from him. Like avoiding item loss and then how to get the emerald translator module. I remember after getting so fucking angry after seeing that I wasn't able to get emerald, he told me there were two projectors to scan. Thanks Miles!
And I always thought Nintendo games were perfect and bug free...
APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG AS SHIT
hankster112 yep me too
i wanted to say it's amazing, but im just speechless....
But you're still saying it.
It's called the "syllable skip." It only saves a fraction of a second, but it adds up to quite a lot of time throughout the run ;)
The light suit is so beautiful
Is it just me or does it look a little bit like the fusion suit (in terms of shape)
Wow miles that's awesome that you stand up for your friend like that.
LOL I thought this game had no glitches :D
This is truly an impressive run. I'm glad I got to watch Miles play MP1 and MP2. I never realized how broken these games were. I'll check out his twitch channel some time.
Not to sound like a grammar policeman, but shouldn't the name of this be "Awesome Games Done Quickly 2013?"
Favorite metroid!
I love Miles' runs. I hope one day he will do an audio commentary.
Will do, thanks.
Whoever donated for the Boost Guardian fight must be reeeeeeeeeeealy disappointed.
I thought he messed up at the beginning and had just given up. I was feeling for him. Then I realized it was all part of the plan, and I don't think I'll doubt Miles again.
Speed runners are fucking insane. This is why I'm more of a completionist. I couldn't get a tenth of this speed.
lol, love the sarcasm at the beginning ;) "i thought this game didnt have any glitches" haha
imagine you can program and produce this game at this speed. xDDD
lol
13 minutes in... already has light beam.
RESPECT!
Funny, when I try to scan the ATM after collecting light/dark beam the game says LOL NOPE CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT SAMUS and keeps giving me the damn GO FIND THE DARK SUIT SAMUS!
SAMUS PLEASE
MrFrost791 GO FIND THAT DAMN DARK SUIT SAMUS OR I WILL KICK YOUR DAMN ASS!
MrFrost791 Yeah it took me a while, it was so frustrating when I was spamming it and I'd see the progress bar for a second but I'd have let go before I realized.
Prime 1 is the best Prime game. The original release was pretty buggy too so there's all kinds of sequence breaks.
I actually didn't know that there was a sequel to Morph Ball: the Game. Nice.
0_0 my face the entire time
did you know, fallout 3/NV is a lot like metroid, spam the jump button, glitch threw walls, and both are great games.
how has it taken me this long to subscribe to you people?
I know it. I have a copy and I'm almost terrified to play it anymore since it's so scratched up, even though it does work. Nobody selling used copies bothers to list the numbers at the back, so there's no telling if any of the used copies online are the un-patched version.
Do you upload these in any specific order, or are they in just a random order? Thanks for uploading them by the way :D
working as intended!
Miles is surprisingly witty at times.
i get that problem every once and a while, just click and hold until you see the part of the video that you are skipping too
Man how much I hear from lots of you hate the Boost Guardian, that hard mofo of a boss is one of the most frustrating in VG history. One funny fact is that one of the testers had to use debug mode to beat the boss.
how do you join do you have some website to join or something i always loved your vids and you guys inspired me to try to beat games as fast as I can
Making ROMs from Gamecube games is stupidly hard because the discs rotate in opposite direction to other optical drives, iirc there was something you could do with the Phantasy Star game for the Gamecube that lets you rip ROMs, but it's quite rare because of that. Don't quote me on any of this though; it's been years since I looked into GC ROMs.
Yw
I think one might want to sit on the couch in the nosebleed section-- just to learn the tricks well... you know-- yellow shirt guy
On this episode of national geographic:
VIRGINS!!!!!!!
Brendan trujillo Psychological projection is extremely common.
it's probably the original, un-patched version of MP1.
Does the guy in the middle talk with a lisp?
I don't know but he looks like the biggest virgin ever
Please look in the Descreption there it says "Metroid Prime 2 : Echoes"
go to the sda main site, so you can see a 100% there. I do not think its uploaded on this fan channel.
i wonder what happens if you go out of bounds in the dark world
RIP
Peter is my fave character.. and after him Brian.
The dude in the middle has good commentary however when the runner says he has to "really concentrate now"..that means stfu for a few mins!!
Imagine if someone started dancing right next to the TV while floppin' their dingy around - bottomlessly naked 👉 😎
I can't find a Metroid prime 2 100% run with commentary anywhere -_-
Probably because of how fucking hard that'd be.
Did you guys have to plan all this out beforehand, or did you just know all the little tricks, or both?
As vanilla experiences, which Prime game is best?
In terms of glitch exploiting and speed running, which game is best?
Awh, yiss. That final time is my Lucky number. X3
It's generally okay if you have a powerful computer. But even then, some games just won't play very well. One example is F-zero GX. If you try to play with more than just a few other racers, it'll cripple even the most powerful machines out there. The Metroid Prime series is another example. The first one won't go more than 15 or 20 frames a second no matter what.
I would say about two thirds of GC games work just fine, though. I played the Pikmin and Monkey Ball games flawlessly.
Great run
What is the alternate route they talk about when doing the grand abyss no grapple beam
4:32 SMK's comment was too good.
Yes.
I agree. I have an original un-patched copy and the patches made that game far worse, amidst fixing the two freezing glitches at Chozo Ruins. I'm still holding tight to my original un-patched version of the game that I've had since release.
Don't know if you'll see this or respond to this, but I wanted to ask if you know of a way to make a ROM out of the disk. I want to make a backup of it so it'll last forever, since I don't know if I'll ever find an original un-patched version of MP1 again.
What happened to everyone?
How Metroid Prime 2 differs from Metroid Prime 2 Echoes?
Hahahaha that's brilliant! Never thought of it as a way to save time. Wow
Well, there is an existing ROM of Metroid Prime online you can play in Dolphin, but I haven't been able to get far enough in to tell what version it's based from. Even on my gaming-grade hardware the game can barely play.
Also, there seems to be as many GC roms as roms for any other older console, so there's gotta be someone who knows how to do it. Maybe I just gotta do more research into who might know.
Wow, the mid and left guy on the couch sound really flamboyant.
And no, not hating. Just pointing it out. Came off really strong lol.
Who cares? What was the point of even pointing it out in the first place? People like you are the reason the world is such a shitty place. Your comment is like the people that say "I'm not a racist but.." and then say something completely racist.
nrdsgtbck101 No, it is nothing like that. It's more like if someone pointed out there is someone wearing a very green shirt. You are the one who made it into something negative, and even compared it to racism. I would take some time to self reflect. You viciously blame me for being the reason why the world is a "shitty place" for simply pointing out a neutral characteristic. I guess anyone who points something out is a terrible person. I stand by what I said. He does sound really flamboyant. So much so that I thought it was worth commenting about.
Have a nice day.
Jeff McIntire It was still odd that you thought it necessary to point that out. For no reason other than to point that out.
***** pointing stuff out is ok i mean its not like he's shooting children while huffing paint.
Argonisgema
Although I have been known to do that ;)
thumbs up if u think all glitches in nintendo games are intended to make those runs more interesting
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
8 years later and you didn't get any thumbs up
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can't get past 10:32....i jump down and back up on door but it doesnt load
That middle kid is worse than blueglass
Even if, they are contributing to a charity event. What have you done?
I ate some cake
iPlayDrums your a one of a kind man
Dude...
I did the out-of-bounds trick once... so not worth the time it took me!!! XD
Would of enjoyed it more if u guys didnt skip cinematics but great job either way
Its a speed run...
You're kind of a dumbass aren't you?
panascope
Goddamn. Overreaction much?
suprqt 'Twas a stupid thing to say though.
Is he playing on WII with a classic controller? I saw the menu interface and it looked like the WII and not GameCube..how is this possible?
Why you had the boost ball and the double jump at the beggining of the game? >
Did one of the Donators call the Middle guy Andy Milonakis!? Lolz!
Did you not watch Metroid Prime 1?
47:13 (For reference)
As someone who's played prime 1 and 3 but not 2, this confuses me so much lol
Abraham Pancake Mash play 2. it's great
atnahs sirrah I bought 2 when I was a lot younger, it didn't work on my GameCube, so I returned it... I didn't think of putting it in my Wii... I regret it so much lol
How does he reset the game without pressing the reset button on the controller?
X+B+Start on Controller 1 resets the Gamecube in any game. Doesn't work on Wii.
Also relevant, X+Y+Start will re-center the analog stick deadzones without a restart.
@@shittinator
Nah. That actually turned out to be a MYTH .
next time do a fact check.
Sorry for humiliating you, But I had to do it.
🥺
goddamit lol was looking to see the very end and heard this very loud AHUEHUEHUEHUE... lmao smh goddamit xD
Well that's how most speedruns are, especially the Metroid prime games which is all done with glitches and tricks
I play these games in like a month......... And I get it done in 20-30 hrs...... At least I get my money's worth, I guess!
Easy there keyboard commando. He is correct, and didn't say anything offensive. Eat a Snickers, I think your blood sugar may be low.
YW
DID YOU BREAK THE GAME???
