I am very appritiative of the commitment it takes to discuss each aspect of the build as you decide how you will proceed. I hope you complete this ship online as I have this kit and will be starting it soon. Thank you so much!
I really appreciate your discussion on the scribe lines. I have been trying to figure out the best way to represent these on my hull and you have provided a great path forward.
I'm so happy you are doing this ship. I want to do the Hornet. It's got a nice camo scheme and it comes with all the B25s that bombed Tokyo.. So how you handle this ship sets me up for when I do the hornet. Can't wait to see what you do.
Thank you for the video and great work. I am just purchasing the last bits I need and will be starting my own journey with this great kit. Look forward to the rest...
Good morning from Florida! What a great first video. I would love to see you build the whole ship in video instalments. The colors you picked look perfect for that time period. I can hardly wait for your next build video. Have a great and blessed day Sir!
@Norwegian Modelling Bench...I really like to see the complete build of this awesome Model. But it is your choice what you like to share with us. Many greetings from Germany. Jens
I have been researching this ship a little, along with Yorktown Kenneth. It would appear that the degaussing cable in the Pontos set is correct for Enterprise after May'42 to October '43. The degaussing cable in the KA set looks mare like the cable Yorktown had fitted at her sinking. If you look at the few shots available of her wreck you'll see what I mean. as for those little platforms on the sides.. it would appear they were removed at her October '43 refit as was her degaussing cable which was replaced with a far more angular, larger single cable I think?
Thanks Nigel for the clarification. You might be right that KA is closer in the actual shape of the cables, but as far as I remember, the shape of how they fit the hull is not as good as the Pontos ones. And those copper wires from Trumpeter are just gruesome. I kept the platforms, as I could see those in pictures taken in 1942. If I were to model a '43 version it would require a lot of work to get the hull blisters etc in place. So are you going to build yourself an Enterprise or Yorktown Nigel?
Good job on the Trumpy kit, which is complicated as Trumpeter wanted the hull to represent 4 different carriers. Be glad you are not modeling Measure 22, as it's a modeler's nightmare--all over Navy Blue and Deck Blue, very nearly a flat black finish that suck light into it and never lets go. The boot topping (the black stripe) winds up controversial, as it could be from 6 to 8 feet tall (185-250cm) and could be 10 feet (300cm) wide at the Captain's discretion. This is complicated as the limits are set based on the waterline, and not span along the hull. So, back under the counter stern, the strip could be several meters wide, to keep its top & bottom edges parallel to the water line.
@@robertleslie5338 I seldom follow the sequence in the instructions, but it requires some planning and try to think ahead. If it is your first build then I would recommend you to follow the instructions though.
Ok thanks, no it's not my first build. I got back into it about 2 years ago. A lot has changed in 50 years and it's a bit more complicated than I remember. And that's why I like it.
Great to hear Mike! Well it says that it adheres to many plastics, and my experience is that it works very well for plastic and for photo etch. I can't easily get hold of E7000, so it is not an option for me, but I guess you can try it out as well. It should be even stronger and flexible.
Thank you for the video’s from the enterprise! Your model looks amazing and I will try to copy you incl. The sea base! 😅 I bought just the trumpeter kit and the pontos set. Do you use a lot of the MK1 kit or can I stay with the pontos set and extra aircrafts? Are the portholes in the pontos set?
Thanks, glad that my build is an inspiration 😊 I mostly used the Pontos set, which in my opinion is far superior to MK1. The portholes are from the MK1 set.
Thanks and welcome to my channel Ignas! I bought it from Andrew3D.net, please see the "Stands..." video for a discount. Time to get it off the shelf? ;-)
@@NorwegianModellingBench thank you, oh, really not the best time :D I got a F-15 1/32 in progress and queen mary 1/400 in progress... don't have much space left haha :D
great start, what is the width of the panel lines, that you etched into the hull? You have 4 of them, what is the distance between the etched lines. thanks, Your videos are getting me motivated to start my USS Enterprise at Santa Cruz, Oct 1942.
Hei. I Norge har jeg handlet hos Bralek, hobbym, Plastbyggesett og Togbutikken. Utenfor Norge har det blitt mest Plastmodel.pl og Super-Hobby, noe Hannants og ASK.
Great work!I'm also preparing to make this one (in Midway, just like you), I wish I could do as well as you! But I met a problem when choosing the color. I found that on cv6org, it was measure11, and changed to measure 21 in 1943. But on shipcamouflage it was changed to measure 21 in 1942, without exact date. I have not found any other evidence to confirm it as well, which made me quiet confused now. I saw you finally choosed 5-n(measure 21), so can you share the reasons for this?
Thanks! The research done by Jeff Herne, Alan Raven Dave Shadell, and Steve Wiper all seem to agree that Enterprise wore measure 1 until May of 1942, at which time she painted into measure 21. So I guess it is up to you if you select to go with measure 1 or 21, but from my point of view it makes sense due to the fact that there were fading issues with measure 1.
By all means keep on. I will never get to build one of these so watching a true expert is the next best thing
Thanks for will 😊 Glad to hear that you enjoy watching 👍
I like your in depth analysis and comment as you progress through the build, especially comparing the two PE Sets for this model. Good stuff.

I noticed you didn’t use your 3D printed stand in this video. When do you find using the stand most useful?
I find it most useful after the hull is painted. The stand can be tilted, so it is useful when adding details to the hull too.
