Absolutely fantastic production work Paul, as always. Video footage, music and content all spot on. I managed to buy a 5 pack of Acros 100 135 a couple of months ago and have also been celebrating using it since I learned about it's return. Looking forward to the results and of course the new mark II Acros when it becomes available. Cheers.
Spectacular shots, perfect for Acros! So happy it's coming back. I had some rolls stowed away in my fridge just like you, but I guess I can safely use them now :-)
Excellent photography as always Paul. I love your taste in music, it always draws me into the moment. The M8 produces some amazing photos, it must be a pleasure to own. Excellent to hear Acros is returning as I have never experimented with it before and remember when Ted announced it was being discontinued.
Stunning photos, Paul. I'm glad Acros II will be with us soon. I believe the reason for Acros being pulled was an environmental issue with some of the chemicals used and, at the time, Fuji didn't have an alternative. My hope is that the new stuff will have the same tone curve as the old (or very, very similar). Keep up the great work, mate, your channel is awesome.
As always, a grand video. Wonderful eye for stills and your video production. Enjoyed a nice Kentucky Bourbon while viewing this piece. The shot at 11:25 is National Geo quality. Thanks for what you do, Paul.
Incredible shots yet again Paul, beautiful and rugged landscapes. The church shots remind me very much of the little township churches here in Queensland. Cheers, Jon.
Great vlog Paul, and beautiful photos. Good to see the character of the place so well captured, whilst avoiding the obvious compositions. Appreciated too how Bay stood stock still during the beach shot, preserving the pristine sand, despite seemingly having run in all directions up to that point!
Hell yeah! I was just talking to my brother about Acros being discontinued. We both started shooting film and went to digital. Now i'm going back to film for personal photos and was sad finding out that Acros was discontinued. So happy its coming back!
Good on you Paul ... A bit of storm chasing up the peninsula is good for the soul , & you probably missed out on hot chicken soup at Matakawau that cold day. Enjoying your coastal landscapes as usual mate !!
Love the channel, great content! Just started getting into film myself and get a lot of inspiration and help from your videos. Picked up your book, look forward to receiving it!
Gday Paul and first up many thanks I received stolen moments last week in the mail.Wow I have to say that Acros is a gorgeous emulsion mate. You live in really beautiful surroundings, all the best mate
Great video, nice and relaxing scenery. Looking forward to Acros coming back 🙂 I've seen some of your videos before but realised I wasn't subscribed this whole time so just fixed that 👍
Absolutely wonderful. To me, your videos are a meditation, so relaxing and absorbing. BTW, I ordered your book Stolen Moments (beautiful and evocative imagery) on Wednesday, and it arrived at my home in the UK yesterday (Monday), what outstanding customer service!!
It's such incredible thing you make me feel so close a land so physically far from me (I live in Rome, Italy). It means you touch some deep chords that make people united all across the world. Thanks for that feeling. You are a great photographer, filmmaker and a poet. -Luca
Great journey Paul, the digital and film shots really nice. The church was lovely in B/W with exposed fence. Your drone shot moving toward lighthouse reminds me of Planet Apes final scene. Pal Bay always looks top notch.
I shot a roll of 120 Acros yesterday (Mamiya M645 1000s) and just finished developing it. Looking forward to how it turned out. Great video, btw. Thanks!
Hi Paul great video think we spoke before best one is of your dog LOL have you ever tried a big stopper are use mine for my seascapes and with the rocks in your photos it would work a treat exposures for about a minute cheers Matt
I have about a dozen rolls of Acros in my fridge, I certainly wasn’t using them for my analogue 365. I know it will be available worldwide online in a heart beat, but they are supposed to be releasing first in Japan and spreading out from there. So you might get it before us in the UK. Do you watch David Hancock's channel at all? I’d say his is the best channel for the technology of film and film photography on RUclips. He also happens to be an excellent photographer. Nico is also excellent, but he tends to focus on larger formats. Oh my gosh what gorgeous images in this blog, the light was amazing. I really like how you played with the gate posts for the images of the church, breaking the rules to perfection. All the other images were wonderful, really well done. Thank you.
The colours from the M8 are just great. Makes me want to shoot one, but it's a risky proposition in my mind, as they still command a healthy price over here. Anyway, great vid, thanks 👍
Hi Paul, I've heard that Acros II will be a different emulsion vs the original. I bought a boat load of Acros back when I heard Fuji was discontinuing it. It will be interesting to see how the new emulsion compares with the old. Great video, as usual!
I don’t think it will be too different I heard it’s different backing material or something but hopefully still had the same reciprocity characteristics.
@@tallaganda83 I've heard that the reason Fuji stopped producing the original version was lack of some raw materials. Whether that's true or not I have no way of knowing, of course. However, to quote my former photo mentor, "Different is not the same." :)
You are in top form with today’s vlog Paul excellent subject, drone footage, location and music selection!! Keep em coming. Can you tell me the artist of the music? Anthony den Hartog
Hey Paul - just out of curiosity wondering if you make a vid one day about your other life? I mean, I believe you are a professional photographer or photography is your job. It would be great to take us on one of your professional or formal shoots, or share some part of your working life. It would kind of balance out with the more relaxed, fun time shoots that you share on here. Cheers Philip
Fuji does some weird things with their film stocks ... like discontinuing the sale of Velvia 50 in 4x5 sheets in the USA when it's obviously still extremely popular amongst large format landscape photographers. Everyone has to buy it from Japan and have it shipped now.
Cheers from France. I love New Zealand and dream about coming back there. Love your B&W, and it’s strange but your videos are reaaaally slows, and yet I really enjoy them. We have the time to appreciate your photos, it’s great ! Maybe I’ll appreciate more if there were more photos during your talkings, on some videos. But you make a great job. I’ll follow you on Instagram (I’m @stephchristianphoto)
Paul C Smith Photographer I’m in the UK. I’ve just seen a Leica M6 classic 0.72 rangefinder with a 35mm summicron asph f2 for 2,600. Is that a good price? It’s in mint condition and serviced recently...
Amazing pictures and a such a chilled video, love the church photos. I have 1 roll of acros left, might just put it in the O-M1 for this weekends Norton Owners Club National rally in Morpeth. 📷🏍👍
Acros II will be a good film if it's anything like the original - but while I can buy FP4 for half the price I doubt if it will be very popular in the UK. I'll certainly stick with Ilford - even if Across is made in the same place.
Great work yet again Paul, and the ideal accompaniment to my morning coffee. A quick question, are you doing the drone footage or do you have a secret helper ? :)
Hey Paul. Recently found your channel, great content. Just some useless information- it became too difficult for Fuji to acquire the raw materials to make Acros, the next version will not be the same
Don't be completely fooled into thinking Acros II will be exactly the same as Acros. On their Japanese press release fuji noted one difference, saying that the gradation in highlights would be more distinct and that the film may be more "three dimensional".
Those acros shots were marvelous. I happen to score some 120s in ebay in real cheap price who’d have thought a month ago it was almost rare. My first impression of the film is real thin so thin I scanned it reverse as I could not identify the emulation side 😂 . May be I shot it 400 iso and little bit overdeveloped looking forward for some more shots tho. Regards
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer heh heh heh. It's just a number. It's the second time that has happened to me. Look forward to your next video. I go through your backlog often to view them.
Fuji makes much more profits with their digital cameras and they are not interested in making films anymore. Velvia and provia will be discontinued soon too.
Paul...i love your perspective on landscape...and Bae...adds to it...so graceful you both are...The music adds to the video
