Told an awesome story!
This really transported me there. 🙏
Ah you're killing me Em.. Really enjoyed every single photo. Especially any with kids.. As I see it, kids there have a good time with what they have. No smartphones being shoved in their face when they go out. Just the environment and some sports.
How did you actually get on with the basics like drinking water, power outlets etc? I hear mixed stories about Cuba all the time as you can imagine. Wonder what things you had issues with and not in general. Respect for going to the country side too!
Thanks, Alex! Drinking water was easy, bottles were provided/refreshed at the casa I stayed in and served at every restaurant. Also, a lot of little shops out of homes on the street sell water/soda/beer so it's always easy to get something on the go. Paper products were in small supply in general it seemed (napkins, toilet paper) and it took a little bit to get tp at the casa upon arrival but it was okay. Power situation was fine too (we had one brief power outage in the countryside but that was it), the biggest struggle seemed to be wifi, if you don't have the tourist sim the wifi is extremely unreliable and only in specific parks/hotel/restaurants and accessed with a pre-paid card. Some restaurants provide free wifi but it's more spotty than the parks, the tourist sim is a must if you're solo and need to navigate/look stuff up on the fly. Food seemed to be more limited than it previously was according to locals, alcohol was in no short supply and drinks were consistently great. I brought a variety of medicine as gifts as I had heard that was appreciated right now. That about sums it all up.
Oh yes!!!!! Emily we need more videos from you!!!!!
Had to watch this 3 times. So good.

Your photographic eye is EPIC! A nice new fresh style of capture. Bravo!
Awesome photos Emily! I know it can't really compare, but it reminds me a little of the first time I visited San Juan last year. Havana would be a dream for me to photograph, especially on film.
