I just came back from a visit to the Infiniti showroom in Dubai. I test-drove the 2.0t premium. What a wonderful ride. So comfortable and powerful (in S mode) yet smooth (in E mode). Love the suspensions as I went over speed bumps. The Q30 feels and looks (inside) so different from other Infiniti models.
Thomas, your videos are getting better and better. I'm portuguese, and I feel happy when you are here. Awesome job! By the way, this Infiniti looks amazing.
Thank you for the review. It was excellent. I have just bought a Q30 2.2d and it’s great. Looks beautiful, drives really well and gets lots of heads turning. I use all the drive features: Eco mode mostly, paddle shifting when overtaking, S mode when waiting at a busy roundabout requiring quick acceleration. I actually like the GPS but does take getting used to. I like that’s it’s embedded into the dash. It’s quiet for a diesel with noise cancelling feature and it has enough power for me. I prefer it to the Mercedes A class as I find that car looks like it’s designed for the younger driver where’s the Q30 looks more sophisticated. Great review. Thank you
Thomas I'm glad the review was done on my country near to beautiful Guincho, a perfect location for this beautiful premium Nissan. Looks like Infiniti it's on the right track. Time will tell.
Thanks to you, Thomas, I have just gone out and bought an Infiniti here in Scotland. I love the silent luxury which cocoons you. And the 1.5dCi from Renault has plenty of punch. The whole thing is many grades above the A-class. So, Infiniti: the upmarket Mercedes.
I bought it. The 2.0t petrol. It is sublime. The E mode is so smooth and comfortable, the S mode very energetic. E mode you can still press on and rev up. S mode is a real pleasure on the highway but too much high rpm at low speed. I really like this car.
I sold it today 11-Sep-2021 after almost 5 years. It was good run. And I never had problems other than the sunroof that malfunctioned and they repaired it.
Great item. Really liked the concept, about a car with an interesting story. Sparked an interesting conversation here. Pity about the software. I don't understand how this is so hard to get right since on phones it works so well. But apparently there's something I'm missing here since it's the case in so many other car systems.
Nice job Thomas! I'm looking forward to a comparison test. For those that say the exterior looks like or copies the Mazda, I disagree! Mazda has had goofy smile design language for awhile though they have toned it down. Infinity has had this "puckered" or "sea creature" front end design for years in their products, and the heavily sculpted organic contours along the sides and hood for about a decade, though exaggerated here. Mazda's do not have such deep/3 dimensional contours. Mazda 3's also do not have this classic French rear window design (Citroen DS) borrowed by many French hatches over the decades. This design cue seems appropriate, as a nod to Nissan's partnership with Renault. I've not usually been a fan of the overly organic/feminine Infinity designs themes, but I find the overall execution attractive here. I like the interior design visual and apparent quality of the materials. The alcantara on the dash reminds of more exotic applications. Well done Infinity!
I can't wait to see this vehicle in person. It really is a very dramatic design isn't it? Amazing you are able to drive it so quickly. Is it even available yet in Europe?
+kevin n indeed very rare! About our timing: We usually launch reviews when the pre-orders start and then a couple of months later you can see them first in the show room
Thank you, Thomas. Nicely styled automobile. The swoosh/bend at the C-pillar is the only design element I have trouble with. To me it looks like the roofline has collapsed under load at that point of the car. Picky picky... Interior styling looks very well done. Nice review. Ciao to your talented co-pilot and camera person!
u such a genius !! so fast so quick ! i was like when this one will be reviewed ! and boom! pretty sure u will do the talisman this month :) well lets click on play now, thanks for ur awesome high quality review ! its a like every time even without checking the video, never disappointed ! for my case im gonna have to find a top 5 hatchback car with my budget and find the ONE who will fit for me !
My first look it appears similar to little Lexus NX. Very surprised it's more expensive than similar MB-A class! Surprised that you still have to insert key. I wish manufacturers would use a larger non-Turbo engines like Mazda offers. More and more engines now are Premium fuel required which is more expensive to own. (in US diesels are rare because fuel lis as expensive as Premium petrol and they always sound clackity-clack as if something is loose in the engine! ) How do you rate the dual clutch transmission vs other transmissions- regular and/or dual clutch? I wonder if you can get this serviced at a Mercedes dealership in a pinch! 3 color rims are great. I like the Infotainment display which is housed inside the dash not just stuck onto it. Does the car offer Apple CarPlay integration? Views of the GPS looks very confusing/inaccurate. Rear seats folding to create nearly flat floor is useful. A deeper head to head comparison of this with an A Class would be interesting, they should offer a Thomas' voice option for GPS! Interior styling is a little fancier than the usual stark German designs. All the new front, side, and rear warnings systems play havoc with my radar detector! ruclips.net/video/QBJTpcBWI6E/видео.html
Its predominantly rear wheel driven not front. The 1.5 engine is built by Renault / Nissan. The 2.0T petrol is built by Nissan for Mercedes & the 2.2 diesel is built by Mercedes for Nissan.
This counts for the bigger Infiniti models, _not_ for the Q30. The Q3 is essentially a Mercedes A-Class and the QX30 a Mercedes GLA - and this is the front-wheel-drive platform by Mercedes.
great review! the sculpted design reminds me of Mazda. If memory serves, a majority of the car is based on the A-Classe Mercedes Benz. At this price point, full power driver and passenger seats should be standard. The A-Classe isn't sold in America (yet), I think it will sell well. As for Europe, I'd be interested to see how it compares to the A. Infiniti has a limited network in Europe compared to Mercedes.
+Autogefühl You dress much sharper than most Americans here. But white belts were considered old man attire until recently. They're back in fashion lately, though. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the excellent review. A question to Thomas: you tested both Infiniti Q30 and Volvo V40: which one has better noise isolation, especially when cruising at high speeds?
As always Thomas, an excellent review and jam-packed with useful background information. For my personal taste, this car looks as though it took a savage beating with an "ugly stick", similarly to that other hideously butt-ugly Nissan Juke. The interior doesn't come close to the stunningly designed VW Passat and Audi A4 interiors - despite the alcantara.
helo , i have a question ,is there any difference with the first q30 that you drive and the other with the screen one is bigger than the other it seems.
Accept outside design it is 100% Mercedes A/GLA - drivetrain and a specially inside. Alle the buttons, dials and even seats. What's the point of making the same car in a bit different packaging?
I'm not a big fan of hatches but this car looks amazing. It does look a lot like a mazda 3 but then again that's also a car that is good looking. This car is stunning. Will it be available in the USA?
Can you please list the differences between the concept version and the production version of the infiniti QX30? To me, it looks the same but feels different. I was drooling over the concept, but I lost the desire to own it when I saw the actual final version. I'm frustrated because I want to know why! What changed?! I really want to like this car...
Sag mal Thomas, vielleicht weißt du das (oder ein User hier :D): Ich finde den QX30S bzw, den 2.0T Motor für den QX30S hier gar nicht...kommt der noch oder gibts den nur für den Q30?
+Autogefühl ahh ok now I finished it! haha I really like the sports front grill i find it a better solution then the Lexus spindle F sport grill. but the base white one model looks boring grill
Yup. Hopefully they keep the Mercedes parts in the lower end models. I want Infiniti design in my Infiniti. I own both Mercedes and Infiniti now. I don't want to feel like I'm buying a merc. If that's the case. I'll buy from Mercedes rather than Infiniti

+Wold OliviO hey, we already have a static review of that one from IAA, youtube search autogefuehl renault talisman. Full driving review will be coming next year!
I really don't like the interior. Honestly, if it didn't have an Infinity badge on the steering, I'd guess it was some Chinese company that tried to rip off a Mercedes A class. I know they share a lot of parts, but it just looks like they tried too hard to hide it, and then ended up with an interior that is totally aesthetically wrong. It looks like parts of it come from various cars, they don't blend together nicely, etc. The central console part with radio controls is especially badly designed. Materials and quality look good from the video, but the design, nah, it's a mess honestly, for someone who likes elegant, minimalist and modern design, this would be a nightmare.
I think the front looks too much like a Mazda 3. I think the back looks again similar to the Mazda 3 but more squished. Not too impressed if i'm honest.
I think the design is overly complicated. You can see it at 3:28, it's like they didn't find any more space to put curves and complications. Too much attention seeking for my taste. Also, I believe that this videos are getting too long. On the BMW 6 I got a little bored while you where driving. 30 to 40 minutes is the sweet spot in my taste.
