2 geniuses..great to see. Love these Papa interviews, where he’s clearly up to play and nail the licks but he hangs back to let the guest shine. And asks the questions most of us would ask, to get to the basics of how others create licks👍
Thanks Nicky! Glad you liked the vid and thanks for the kind words!
I've cut all my therapist sessions. I now just listen to Robbie Calvo talking...! 😌
Lol! Totally!
Robbie I'm addicted to your playing. Not only do you play sooo melodically you actually speak melodically! Your a treasure to the Guitar community! Thank you so much & Happy Holidays to both you guys. Peace
Right
Yeah his phrasing is amazing! Great teacher too!
Stopped for just a moment to comment about the lead that Robbie plays at the intro portion. Isn't it remarkable how his deliberate lead playing changes completely transform the spirit/feel of the collective chords ?
Yep agreed!
Brett you and Robbie really sound great together you guys compliment each other so well and it brings out the best .Thanks
Thanks! He is a blast to play with and his tracks are amazing!
Thank you, it's always a great hang and jam session/lesson with Brett...more content to come!
Mr Calvo plays his guitar like a JEDI NINJA!!!
Yes he is! Great teacher too!
Super smooth and tasteful as always guys... Great lesson!!
Thanks for tuning in!
Excellent as usual. The course is great by the way.
Thanks! And thanks for the support! It's all possible because of people like yourself!
Brett, just redone my membership for another year. Love the lesson's and all the great players you bring us for lesson's. Robbie love the course so far. Bought it as soon as I got Brett's email. Great job guy's thanks for all the hard work you do to bring us the lessons.
Russell you are the best! It's all because of people like you that I can do all of these videos! Thanks for checking out the course and the support! There should be some Robbie members only content coming soon inside the membership!
Thank you Russell, really appreciate the compliment and for investing in my works...
Beautiful tones, beautiful playing, great advice. All the ingredients for a top lesson. Thanks guys.
You are welcome!
Thank you for such a kind compliment...
So comfortable to watch. I like Robbie directing his teaching to the camera/us. I like how Papa asks the questions we all have and adds some supportive information. Home run.
The zoom into Robbie is great.
If I was directing I would have papa look at the camera/us more. But I am not the director.
These lessons are amazing. Every guitarist should have friends like Papa and Robbie to jam with/learn from.
Thanks.
Thanks you! To me they are teaching the lesson so I just talk to them and interject when I feel something could be expanded upon. Thats why in the interviews I don't talk to much or look at the camera. I'll probable pick up another camera soon though so that will help haha.
Just purchased Money Tones. Can't wait to start learning! Thanks guys!
Yes!! Thanks so much for the support Jim!
Thanks Robbie , Brett love the tones
Thanks! Good ol' Divided by 13 JRT9/15. Love that amp!
Brett I can't thank you enough. Sounding this good melodically and in tonality has become the norm for me now just watching teasers from you, Guthrie Trapp, Music Is Win and the rest of your buddies on the scene. Robie you sound soooo smooth buddy.
Thanks for checking us all out! I am glad its helping!
Fantastic lesson, Robbie along with your great knowledge and wisdom, you have a great talent for teaching and simplifying the explanation of the lessons. Like Brett stated, you are very melodic and that makes for a good lesson and excellent playing, unlike some teachers blazing all up and down the fretboard as fast as they can which sounds like someone singing scat music, never taking a break to let the music breathe. I love your explanation of the Helix, I hope Line 6 is endorsing you. Thanks guys. Merry Christmas.
Thank ya sir! Robbie is a Line 6/Yamaha specialist and works for them. Really knows his stuff! You should see all of the stuff he does with that Helix OMG its crazy!
.....
..
Thank you so much for the multiple compliments...we always appreciate the positive feedback. Glad the teaching styles resonate with you...happy holidays...
Another awesome lesson!
Thanks for checking it out!
Good one! And another good looking Revstar!
Thanks! That guitar is amazing!
Great again thank you guys
Thanks for checking it out!
Robbie Calvo - great player, great teacher, super cool guy!!
Yep agreed!
Great value. After some years of scales and pentatonics, i began hitting chord tones and arpeggios, its an open door to mix all and trying to find your style though i still resist myself to the sound of an arpeggio in a song. Thanks guys. :-)
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Awesome lesson!
Thanks Charlie!
I have a line 6 Helix and I want Robbies tones from the marketplace, but I also want a coffee maker like you have Brett.
Haha that thing is the best! Drinking some right now!
wow that kind of solo that i want to learn.. more melody 🥰
Yep for sure!
Luv Robbie Calvo's lessons. I have several from TrueFire (Sweet Notes)! Gonna look at this one.
Awesome!
A easy way to find your mix. scale is to play a min. scale a whole step up. So if you play a G7 chord play a Amin. scale. You can also play some licks that you would play in Amin.
Thanks for this in-depth supplement to Robbies course. I’ve watched it three times already. Will this video be in the Kajabi app to reference with the course? Stellar playing and fantastic info!
Awesome! Thanks for watching! Yes there will be some Robbie content coming to the membership section soon!
Thank you Todd, much appreciated!
This is awesome, looks like I need to do more guitar homework which I like doing! Thanks Brett and Robbie.
Sure thing!
This is something I noticed when taking lessons from a jazz guy: The reason jazz chords are so complicated isn't necessarily because those guys are so big-brained and harmonically advanced, it's because then they can use more notes in the solos. In other words, there are a lot fewer "wrong" notes to remember not to play.
(Also: "I'm not just repeating the idea and going, 'Hope this works'..." Damn! He's onto my method! 😀)
Haha good point!
Thanks...so smoooooth.
For sure! Robbie is one smooth cat!
"A Pro !!!" Nuff said
I've been looking all over for my chord tone extensions.
Mine was in the Christmas bin in the attic with the other extension chords
Lol!
Muito bom,.
Any info to share "why" it works to use D mixo over this chord progression? Meaning, what about this progression means we should use what notes or modes?
WOW!! Thank you Bret and Robbie!! Question to Brett what guitar tone set up did you use? What's Robbie's guitar tone that he use. I look forward your reply. Peace
Thanks Edgar! Robbie uses a Line 6 Helix and I believe I was using my Divided by 13 JRT9/15.
I hear a Satriani feel in Robbie's phrasing (obviously without the flash and gain).
Is that seen as a compliment or a criticism?
I'm sure he would think it is a compliment. Robbie has terrific phrasing!
great sound and great lesson. Advanced s*** for sure, but I tried to grab something from it
You can get it. Just watch it a few times. It is really all about finding the notes of the chords within the scales.
@@BrettPapa thanks for the reply, sir. You’re hands down one of my favorite guitar content guys. Love your style of play, energy, and overall in depth knowledge. Keep it up man!
Gosh......thx
Sure thing!
Man I love these vids. Is it wrong for a 40yo male who is married with kids to have a mancrush on these guys (platonic of course)
Lol classic! Glad you liked the vids!
I dont know what hell is going on or what they are talking about but i like it
Lol
ahahahahah bags of MONEY !! so good
Lol! Thanks Chris!
Tasteful and melodic. This is what today's most guitarists are missing. They just want to play fast and impress other's and no melody.
Yep agreed. I would take melodies over speed any day BUT, to have both would be awesome too!
I could use a Helix Native product key lol 😜
Enter the contest and maybe you will be one of the winners!
@@BrettPapa already did lol
When you seek tones worth more than a buck and some loose change.
BTW, found that descending play of notes while barring the 1st 2 strings with the pinky a great takeaway.
Never barred pinky and worked notes to the left like that before.
Thanks for another great video guys !
Edit : I went back to refresh and Robbie called it "pedal tone".
Thanks for checking it out!
First! I apologize.
Your apology is not accepted.
No excuse for it. You know better.
Lol!
