This song puts me in a totally different mindset.. it makes me think soooooo much it's crazy makes me think of child hood memories and makes me want to change my whole life
Same here. I was 14 listening to this song remembering the times when i was 7, and particular line of the song really hit me but i didn't understand why, until now that i read your comment. Took me 4 years to understand why i love this song so much.
Zephaniah 1:4-6 4 I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests; 5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the Lord, and that swear by Malcham; 6 And them that are turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him. Pslam 94:23 23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off. Ezekiel 24:13-14 13 In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged form thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee. 14 I the Lord have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord God. Deuteronomy 32:4 4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Job 28:28 28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Billy Corrigan is brilliant. He did everything. Wrote composed arranged everything while the other two who were in a relationship fought the white Le time. That's why his net worth is what it is.
I don't know y but when I hear this song I think of the struggles our veterans went through in war or active duty members went through and I also think of lem 🙁🙁🙁🙁
I know this comment is old, but I very much see abuse in this song, it comes out in the line "what I choose is my voice". That is used by people who have been sexually abused by family when they can finally speak up and not keep the blame on themselves. Sexual abuse also causes kids to "grow up fast" because they suddenly have a knowledge that no kid should have. Just my thought on it..thanks, and I hope you have been able to use your experience as a kid to help others maybe not be so alone.
Karla Dennis karla this is exactly what this song means and exaclty y since i was 14 this shit has spoken so deeply to me. I dont get into all that kinda stuff and rarely talk about it but from someone who knows first hand the knowledge other KIDS dont have i learned at age 5. Not only do you grow up emotionally fast n fucked up but ypu grow up hyper sexed like thats all life is about and whe. its not you make it about that to a point gfs realize that you r not the normal bf. not in a bad way just different and more understanding to certain things.
My oldest grandson succumbed to osteosarcoma this summer. He was a handsome, loving and wise 12 year old. The memories of his radiant smile is a gift 💝
Soarin Weaks I thought it was about maturing into adulthood and reminiscing about childhood I never thought it would be about that where did you read it from
Billy corgan said in a interview . "it’s the first song where I ever really dealt publically with my childhood in a way that just wasn’t sort of vague or alluded to. It was very direct." Johnny it's best not to believe what some people say its better to check things out for yourself
DoomsDayChicken956 I just read a little bit about it not too long ago I had no idea the song was about his childhood about him wanting to kill his parents dispite that it's still my favorite song are you a long time fan
Saltwater, it's really a damn shame what you must have gone through. I send you all of my blessings, and hope by now, that everything is well with you. I remember my 2 boys always playing this song, but I never knew the lyrics. I always remember when Billy would sing,"The killer in me is the killer in you?"That use to make me sad. Now,I finally know the lyrics, and it does touch my heart and soul.
I think the beauty of any artistic format whether it be song, video, pictures or paintings the viewer can interpret the meaning(s) through there own eyes. It doesn't necessarily mean the viewers meaning correlates to the artist meaning. As long as the art sparks some kind of meaning in the viewer then that's art. I know Billy Corgan's view on this song is totally different than mine but 'what I chose is my choice'
This song means so much to so many..it became so powerful to me because someone i loved showed it to me and i saw so much in her for it..or so i thought..we may never know for certain, but her mother mayve abused her so systematically that she her own personality never anchored anywhere and shes Just an amalgamation of the character traits of the people she enjoyed the most..which, for 7 tumultuous years, was me.. Shenalove, the killer in me really was the killer in you..maybe one day ill be able stop hating myself for that..
@zeesbff Not yet, very soon.. I have "Serve the servants" by nirvana already on my back. Im trying to find a spot to fit this piece. I love it sooo much.
That new karate kid movie that I just saw the trailer for leading into this video is going to hands down be the best movie of this decade. Century maybe. Easily. HA-DO-KEN!
I used to be a little girl so old in my Shoes, what i choose is my choice, what's a girl supposed to do.. The killer in me is the killer in you..my love... Send a smile over you... Something about forgiveness or striking back!
@saltwaterjoys your comment is why music is so amazing, one song can have a million meanings and touch so many peoples hearts. your story is one of hope, well i hope things are better now.
>stolen content This is actually just the words to a song put to the song. This is no one's content but the band's, someone else put words on screen to it and uploaded it. This is nothing worth taking credit for.
Did you know that if you say: "Smashed pumpkins" then the word "smashed" is an adjective but if you say "pumpkins that were smashed" then the word "smashed" is a verb in its past tense state.
this band is still brilliant Dang once again no responsibility, just blame. God bless you? this band is still brilliant I'm still a little girl in my shoes....... i love the smashing pumpkins
i think that this song is about how his parents had different plans for him and wanted him to grow up to be something he docent want to be and that the part where he says (the killer in me is the killer in you) means that his parents don't have the same opinion as him and will teach him to grow up with the things they learned instead of the way he thought of it as a child and think of every thing he believed child hood as wrong idk what this is about but its a reasonable guess if you ask me
like saltwaterjoys said (sad story about that btw : / ) this song really is not about child abuse its more about changing people when they don't want to be changed but don't realize it until its to late
***** Next time someone points it out, grab your head and say "Oh my god, I am?!" and run out of the room. People are idiots, dude, sorry you have to deal with that, it's shitty.
Me to. I think it's a sad song. Makes me think of regret Man, some songs are too pure to be from this world. 17 ppl & counting has no killer in them, "my love send to you". Typical 2009 lyric video haha
