Much prefer a used C63 V8 to this; sound is sound and without it the most important part of the car's soul is lost. The fact that it is slower doesn't matter. In everyday Monday to Friday driving, it what makes a mundane drive into something better. An E39 523i I6 is almost there but not quite. Maybe the only one that could compare was the BMW M3 V8 with its screaming red line that I drove on a track driving course.

Hyundai will follow the upcoming Kia ev3 with their own version. And maybe those will get a gt or gt line and N line versions in 25 or 26?
Mr anti electric car man here. This is one EV I'd actually buy, saw Hyundai launch it at Goodwood fos last year, saw what it could do going up the hill and was well impressed.
Why no mention of the best feature on the ev market right now - SIMULATED GEARS? I love Hyundai for that, why the disrespect?
🔋🧂
Without simulated turbo lag the most important feature is still missing. I'd also like to have a simulated DPF regeneration cycle.
I watched Misha take one of these around the ring, which was impressive enough. However the guy he was chasing (another ioniq 5n) was properly making that car dance. Really cool car.
Totally unrelated Chris but I've just finished listening to your audio book and absolutely loved it, top bloke 👍
As long as you don't have a pacemaker you are good to go. Seriously We were told that on the electric car course I attended .
You forgot to mention that this course was not about driving an electric car but about servicing the motors which contain strong magnets.
@@MetalheadAndNerd regardless of whether driving or repairing electric vehicles, it is advised that anyone with a pacemaker stays away , so if you order an uber state a none electric vehicle if you don't want to run the risk of the pacemaker failing
@@straight-narrow-path I don't know any EV manufacturer that gives such an advise. If there was such a danger all manufacturers would put up a warning since none of them would risk the resulting lawsuits.
@@MetalheadAndNerd Monitor Symptoms: Pay attention to any unusual symptoms while driving or being near EVs. If you notice anything concerning (e.g., changes in heart rate, dizziness), consult your cardiologist promptly.
That was covered in the lecture I attended which was government funded. Car manufacturers don't tell you that there is a risk of fatal explosion either do they!
@@straight-narrow-path ahh government funded ... that's fine then ... governments are known for their astute understanding of new technologies ... oh, wait a minute, they're not.
Harris could make a metro drift, man's a genius behind the wheel !
Metros are easy to drift!! They lift-off oversteer very willingly
@@Nemoticon I couldn't think of another car right at that moment haha 😆
@@blood_upon_the_rose Reliant Robin maybe, lol? xD
@Nemoticon 🤣🤣🤣 I should have picked that I'll hibe you that one 🤣🤣🤣
@@blood_upon_the_rose It's al good, I was just nitpicking... it's obvious what yo meant from the start xD
Suprisingly I looked it up and the RS6 weights 2250kgs too. But damn those V8 super wagons are a dying breed and it's just so enticing 😔
Almost, and that's a very good point! We hear so much about weight of EVs yet nobody mentions the weight of ICE cars. Nobody says "I don't think I'll buy that new SUV, it's heavy". Most of the heaviest cars on the road are ICE SUVs. The main reason it is mentioned by the average uninformed person (not Chris Harris) is simply to trot out some anti EV FUD. Chris mentions it appropriately but then reveals that it actually turns out to be a fantastic car on track, even when driven in a manner that 99.9% of people will never do!
I just received my Ioniq 5N last week. Who would be interested in seeing a comparison between the 5N and an i30N??
Sweet and simple review! Magnificent car, I am going to push my Son away from his Ioniq 5 Limited and buy this!
Great to have the great man in Oz.
"this first corner strikes me as somewhere you could have a huge accident"
... and in 2010 I did! That was the end of my track day budget for a few years...
Chris is the only reason I'd watch a video on an EV 😏
Good Effort by Hyundai. Shame their hydrogen coupe will be limited production. Where are the sounds and gearshifts lol. £64,000 😬 but the features are a lot.
People hate on the IONIQ 5 N because they know it is a legitimate threat and perfect transition vehicle.
Tryed it yesterday, very fun to drive 😁
Chris is a fantastic no-nonsense presenter and having just finished his audiobook, a really interesting bloke who would be great to chat to over a beer about all things cars for sure 👍

Nice video please review it again with in the simulation modes, it's so much more than sound.
I have to say, Chris has skills, he knows how to drive. My hat goes off to him
I thought Top Gear had been cancelled……..
Where are those gorgeous little films that Chris and Neil used to make?
At some point in my life I realised that Radio 1 wasn’t for me anymore, the station hadn’t changed but I had.
Please don’t think of this as negativity towards you Mr Harris, I just loved and miss those films that felt like it was just you driving a car and talking to me about it. They felt special and just for us, I hate to say this but the format feels more like Rory Reid than Chris Harris.
Keep it simple guys, there was never anything wrong with the original recipe.
🙏🏼
I like the video style, it reminds me of your old films, not the fake speed shaky camera style of top gear. Thank you!!
The AWD normal Ioniq 5 is a beast.. this is just nuts!
I like the ionic series, as much as I wanted to dislike it for being an ev, they are one of my first choices if I go that route.
A car I want to ride just once before I die.
That’s an insane car.
Chris is such an underrated presenter, great to see him no longer being overlooked and finally getting the recognition he deserves.
I'm surprised he didn't talk about its ability to shift itself and a different noises that it can make and all the different end modes. I feel like there's so much more to this car that wasn't covered
I wonder if the reason this package gets such enthusiasm from the likes of Chris filters down from the Hyundai EV rally program?
I was considering a standard Ioniq 5, but after less than good treatment from our local Hyundai dealer, I ended up with a Kia. Very pleased with it.
Absolutely fresh original design. Very brave 👏👏👏
I have never seen visuals so insane🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍🥵🥵🥵smooth transitions
Good to see someone taking the time and effort make EVs interesting. Pretty pointless, but well done. I like their little i20n
Great content yet again. Keep doing this.
But i am still not sold BECAUSE it controlling a piston engine that is fun and modulating an electric motor isn't. Without the authentic sound it's all nonsense.
Would have really appreciated what YOUR THOUGHTS were on this car's Simulated gearshift + Fake combustion engines (dynamic) sounds in combination to the driving 😁Heard that was a real novelty that NO other sports car had to offer (at this point) in enhancing the driver's involvement in "a shake down" style drive. BUT, other then that I really enjoy your "Ridiculously fun test runs !!👌👍👍
I can''t tell if he's going fast or slow unless its drifting.
You don't need 3 digits speed to have fun.
Much prefer a used C63 V8 to this; sound is sound and without it the most important part of the car's soul is lost. The fact that it is slower doesn't matter. In everyday Monday to Friday driving, it what makes a mundane drive into something better. I own a GL 63 AMG and prior to that had all sort of 4 cylinders and 6 cylinder vehicles; the GL 63 is the biggest, the heaviest, one of the hardest and most awkward to handle but no vehicle I have ever owned have given me a smile like this one during the work or family commute. An E39 523i I6 is almost there but not quite. Maybe the only one that could compare was the BMW M3 V8 with its screaming red line that I drove on a track driving course.
I really love the mighty N’s!! Wow
It sounds amazing !
Yeah, the sound was incredible, really sold me on the car though I cant afford it ... Turn on the speakers chris!
I'd definitely buy one if I can afford it
This impressive car has the added benefit of tackling the loneliness epidemic, as each buyer makes a new friend with their local tyre fitter.
I Put an order in for 1 of these over a year ago, but as a current RS etron gt owner (my first ev), I have since been cautious of the blood battery aspect of these cars. Not much has been done in the EV auto industry to assuage potential buyers' concerns of this problem as they seem to be ignoring it rather than addressing it head on, unfortunately.
Hope this means the ID.2 GTI is a magnificent drive too. 🤞🏼
I would love to hear your take on how this compares to an M2! They are both priced about the same here in the US…
I'd really like to see your take on the Hiphi Z. I've been driving one on winter roads, and it's another expensive EV with a sense of humour. And although I'm not huge on EV's, I'm rather impressed with the way it drives! Sort of reminds me of a scaled up, modern gt3000. It's also got more entertaining features than Mario-Party, so it pleases the geek in me!
Why didn‘t he show the gear changes and sounds 🙈
The Ioniq 5 N is a beast
The ioniq N has inexplicably turned Chris into the Mask.......SMOKINNN
At last....fun over out right speed....
Misha has shown that it can drive 2 Laps on the nord, with maybe 10min of charging. You can do much more laps as a beginner as well.
which would you have for daily....Ionic 6, or Mustang GT 5.0?
That thing needs a Martini livery like the 90's Lancia Delta Integrale Evo had.
Tyres and brakes every month by the looks of it ! 😅
Won’t be cheap… 275/35R21. 275 section on a Hyundai hot hatch!!! 😂
Love your presentations!
Hope you stayed around & checked out Bathurst 12 hour race over the weekend just gone
The only time you see a Monkey Harris review that isn't pissing wet is when he's in Oz. Cheers 🍺
EVs like this completely debunk the argument that EVs are all about saving the environment.
There is a company called Tesla. Have you heard of them?
@@MetalheadAndNerd of course ive heard of tesla . whats your point?
@@bourbonslurpee They were the first ones who made electric cars fun. Without them electric cars would still be rattling shoeboxes, barely faster than a pedestrian.
@@MetalheadAndNerd still. whats your point.
@@bourbonslurpee My point is that EVs aren't boring for the last 10 years. There are lots of arguments against EVs but not that they are boring.
This sounds a bit like ripping the standard ioniq 5 a new hole, a bit unfairly, that thing can come with up to 325hp and 605nm in awd and do 60 in under 5 secs… it’s a great car. I don’t see why it’s such a surprise they took it a step further and made it trackable 😂
