Is the only difference between the Rode PodMic USB and the Rode PodMic XLR the fact that one has USB and the other has XLR? Are there any other differences? Do you think the price difference is worth it?

i use rode broadcaster 2 years, nice mic for bass-bass-baritone voice, I have a bass-baritone, it sounds powerful, in a high voice it's so-so, so most people don't like it, the light nature of the sound.
I bought it for $250)))

It absolutely can be used for streaming and gaming. The addition of USB means you won't have to fumble around with a USB audio interface and XLR cables to make it work. It also means potentially less EQ work (although you should still look into EQ and filters even with USB microphones) than the original Podmic. Overall it's a great USB mic, but if you're not already a larger content creator, other USB microphones might be better value as you'll get largely the same effective sound quality at a much lower price point. I've used lots of USB and XLR microphones and found that for general streaming and gaming, you can get away with some of the "cheaper" but still quality offerings without any noticeable difference in your streams. As long as your vocal quality and mixing is acceptable, there is a strong diminishing return factor on buying more expensive microphones. Look into hyperx, audio technica, fifine, maono, etc and see what has good reviews and is within your price range. Imo between 50 and 75 is probably the sweet spot for a mic that is good value and will last a long time. You also have to consider that when you are gaming, the main audio sound is not just your vocals but also game sound. Something like the rode podmic USB is a fantastic option when vocals are the main audio source like a podcast, but will it make that much of a difference compared to a 50 or $75 quality option? In my opinion, not really. More worth it to save that money and put it into somewhere else that will improve your stream quality
2x the price for this USB option in Thailand for me is unacceptable
Biggest Drawbacks :-
Not mfi certified - written on the box affects wireless performance, can't plugin directly on iphone
Shure mv7 is mfi certified
Type C Jack Safety - Can't use it alongwith Type C magnetic adapter to plug & remove on the daily basis,quality also hampers.
SC 29 Cable - nowhere available on amazon or direct rode website?
Rode Central app - only app available, not such better tuning on the smartphone?
Battery Drains - With smartphones.

XLR is better if you have a decent interface ;)
But its expensive. I'd rather prefer recording my voice through mobile and give it to Zarific to ensure mic quality audio and save money
