- Sorry for the delay. A while back we picked up the adapter to mate the V12 engine from the Q7 to a 6 speed manual gearbox.
The mock up engine was left in the capable hands of Luke at @DieselPumpUK to come up with an adapter and flywheel for the T56 Magnum gearbox - • As if one V12 TDI wasn...
Soon enough it will be assembled ready for installation into our recently imported Single cab Amarok - • Our NEW Project!!! UK'...

I always wondered what my 3.0tdi would be like as a manual. Glad someone did it, nonetheless to a v12 holy smokes.
My 3.0 TDI A5 comes standard with a twin disc clutch and 6 speed manual gearbox.
@@JDMeister damn I didn't know they came like that. I've got a Touareg, I can't imagine the fun with that engine in a sedan... I'd get in trouble.
Very talented DPUK engineering owner. Takes some skill to visualise the sequence required for the adaptor plate and transitions. Really like the cnc machine.

If things go to plan, I'll be the proud owner of a V12 tdi Q7 in a month or so, and I'll definitely be looking to attempt this. Having a manual transmission V12 daily is the literal dream 😫💦 cracking video.

That conversion kit looks great. Looking forward to seeing more of this build 😀
The T56 has a reverse lockout solenoid whichneeds power to allow the lever over into the reverse plane (right of 5th-6th). You can shove them past the lock but much nicer if you wire it up. You can just wire it off the brake light circuit or on a speed dependent output if you have provision. Speed sensor is generic 2 wire with a toothed wheel & obviously a reverse light switch. I've not long gone from a T56 to a Magnum, much nicer change quality. What clutch are you using? Looks to be a nice job, guy doing the adaptor plate clearly knows his stuff.
Cheers for the tips! It's an M5 pressure plate with custom OM606 friction discs!

I'm guessing they should get a reliable 700bhp. 1000hp possible but it will probably last half as long.

@@DarksideDevelopments There is a W12 Touareg from Japan for sale on AutoTrader, just £ 14k and only 45,000 miles. Has paddle shift on the column I think.

Wonder if the TDI V12 with manual Porsche gearbox, with relocated accessories would fit an Audi R8? Even the V8 TDI swap would be a great series.

@@DarksideDevelopments Custom chopped valve covers, and a 3D printed intake could solve part of the fitting issues.

V12 TDI is also super heavy. Not sure on exact weight but with gearbox its going to be over 400kg.
The best TDI engine for a R8 would be a much lighter engine like a v6 or even 2.0 tdi.
The prototype had one but it's still tall!

I take it he has compensated for crank shaft float when the clutch is pressed,? That adaptor plate is a master piece . Is this for the R8 lol

Hello from the US! Unfortunately, we did not receive the v12 TDI over here. We did get the v10 TDI tho, which I've acquired. Just eyeballing, it doesn't look like this adapter would work, but is there any talk or work on having a t56 v10 tdi adapter made? I know a lot of us US folk would be thrilled to ditch the 09D! Almost all of the v10 Touareg's I've come across, are being sold due to trans issues. Could be a market for it?

I cannot say it was something we had in the pipeline but it is something for us to consider. If you could get together a group of people interested it might be more viable for us to do and look into further.

Which manual awd transmission will work with this engine? I want to swap awd manual transmission with a 500hp+ and 1000nm+ diesel engine to my w210 because I love the w210.
You would need a custom transfer case from a box like this

what a waste to use a t56 boat anchor if there is the option of a bmw gs6 53dz, wich is atleast as strong but then not from 1949, and its a 6 speed, more common in europe kind of deal.
It's a T56 magnum, a 330d box won't take 1500lbs, Luke and I are familiar with them both.

that t56 has about 900+ nm torque limit. That's kind of STOCK TORQUE of that v12 tdi engine. So?!
