When I was a kid my mother had a 1953 Coronation Crown in its presentation case. It was kept in a drawer and I would often take it out just for the pleasure
of looking at it. My mum hinted that it was very valuable and that it must always be put back in the drawer afterwards. She passed away 8 years ago and during
clearing up I found the Crown in the same drawer it had always been. I hadn't
seen it for 30 years. What memories it brought back and yes ! I did tear up..
Her great " treasure " as she always thought of it was as you say worth only
£2 or £3 .....but priceless to me. 🙏 RIP Mum.

That 1916 penny could have spent its life in a child's forgotten money box, saving itself a lot of wear and tear. My dad had a money box that his mum had sitting in her house somewhere until she died. Inside were all sorts of out of date coins which he reckoned had been sitting there for over 20 years.

    Hi Paul,
At 12:43 you had a 1926 & 1918 farthings, after 1918 when the Gold standard was dropped, farthings ceased to be blackened. Your 1926 farthing seems to be the same colour as the 1918, was the 1926, struck from a blackened blank? and if so does this make it a rare variety?

Any "silver" coin minted between 1920 and 1946 contains 50% silver. A half crown contains 7g, florin 5.6g, shilling 2.8g, sixpence 1.4g, and threepence 0.7g of silver. You can usually get spot for 50% silver coins. The sterling silver coins minted 1919 and earlier carry a higher premium.

A nice selection of British coins well worth the money.
Just a few in good grades of interest to a collector.
The 1916 penny is excellent and possibly given by somebody who saved it as new.
It certainly doesn’t fit with others of the similar dates that are in poor condition.
Low values would be a temptation to save but as you go up there is a temptation to use as money when hard up.
I made a similar set when a boy and the condition would be the same, so I guess it was from an estate after someone passed away.
Certainly undersold at 12 pounds when you look at some silly asking prices
