    Turn the set screw only 1/4 or 1/2 turn..... don't take the set screw out! Let it bleed some of the gas pressure for about 15 seconds, then close the set screw. Problem solved!

    The set screw is a vent to the cylinder. The reason you loose gas supply is the regulator shuts off due to excessive flow. By opening the set screw you are momentarily lowering the pressure in the cylinder and also the regulator allowing the regulator to reset. You are also venting alot of gas to the atmosphere. It is much safer to shut the tank off, remove the regulator then install it again.....

      The amount of gas released is miniscule, and at times turning off, disconnecting, and reconnecting doesn't work. If the tank was filled cold and it's now hot, the pressure can be too great for the auto cut off to release fuel. I usually try dumping cold water over the tank before releasing gas.

    This saved me some aggravation. I just had a 40# and a 30# filled and both weren’t sending out enough propane to my heater. The heater would shut off in a few minutes in a cold MN garage. My regulator was freezing and dripping liquid propane from it too. Did this and now they both are working great again. Thank you!

    I recently had the Tractor Supply Store (which they couldn't do anything with the tank as no one was certified...) refill a tank. Unbeknownst to me...they overfilled it! I did notice it was extra heavy but didn't think anything of it. Fast forward - tried "refilled" tank on new grill to season it and within a few minutes the regulator froze solid. Did the reset thing like 3 times, waited and waited. still froze up. Other 2 tanks worked just fine with the same grill, so it wasn't the regulator. Thanks :)

    On a Weber grill, the burner will sometimes not produce full output. This is often caused by the valve on the tank not being fully turned on. According to Weber, the tank should be completely disconnected from the grill, wait about 10 seconds, and then reconnect it. The regulator may have gone into what is called "safe mode", and will be reset by this disconnecting and reconnecting of the bottle. Make sure the valve is turned completely on and then re-light the grill. This is often the problem when the grill will only reach around 250 degrees.

    • @cabinlife1886
      @cabinlife1886 3 года назад +8

      The safe mode you mention is usually caused by turning on the tank too quickly. Try turning it on slowly so you don’t trip the regulators safety switch

    • @dennishaldiman6087
      @dennishaldiman6087 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@neiljohnson6815 - Engineers, not government officials are responsible. If the valve is not fully turned on, the output to the burner may require more than the input is allowing. This may be the sign of a gas leak in the tubing and is why the grill regulator goes into safe mode. They also realize that an idiot who does not understand gas flow is in control - either way, the safety mode is there for a reason.
