Judy doesn't even need a band or a guitar. Only her piano. She could captivate audiences with just her voice and piano. Truly the best.
Like Barbra Streisand, she learned to preserve the very BEST of her voice, long past her prime recording years. Drugs, alcohol and cigarette smoke affect professional singers in different ways, but Judy's remains as fresh and untouched as it was in 1961. If this is what Heaven sounds like, then those of us on Earth have truly seen the best of both sides now. This is magnificent.
Saw Judy today at the Riviera in Buffalo, NY. Loved her. Still has that beautiful voice! 4/13/24
Her voice has hardly changed at all. So many artists voices deteriorate when they get older, or get deeper but she still sounds wonderful
I am going to see this beautiful lady tonight here in Newport RI.. I didn't know she played piano.. I do also.. and sing too.. but not at same time.. so lucky to be seeing her tonight..
Terrific, you can still sing as beautiful as you did 45 years ago.
Gorgeous singing and piano! Absolutely wonderful!
Really outstanding playing/singing - what outstanding musicianship!
Judy Collins , amazing voice so refined as she aged , like a fine wine !
Never get tired of hearing this iconic voice
Nor do i !
I have always loved this song. You just can't beat Joni Mitchell's songwriting and Judy Collins singing.
This woman still had a voice back in the 80’s. Love her and love this song. One of the best songs ever recorded.
Very graceful woman !
Judy Collins, the best
This is one of the most gorgeous folk songs ever written. It's the perfect marriage of the song and the singer. Even though Joni Mitchell wrote it, Judy Collins performs it so beautifully.
Judy Collins was born in Seattle, Washington on May 1st, 1939. She is a Grammy Award-winning American singer and songwriter with a career spanning over 60 years. Judy Collins , amazing voice . I love it.
Truly amazing voice. So powerful, she radiates grace and beauty - this is the best verion ever of this beautiful song. You can feel the emotion as she sings.
Ah...memories, just found this song today after 30 years!! Amazing voice, and such intense eyes!!
Absolute beauty , both to the eyes and ears !
This version with the piano is by far superior to the original version. She sounds great. I just purchased new Logitech surround sound speakers for my computer and the sound is much better than I anticipated. I could listen to this song all day.
I totally agree. She sounds beautiful. I also like this song better now that I am older. It has more meaning.
@@robinbond7878 Yes she sounds great and that has always been a beautiful song
This was the best performance I could have ever imagined. Judy Collins was beautiful and just took this song to another level.
God.,, that is talent.. a beautiful music from a beutiful lady,,,
wow! She's never sounded better!
Beautiful performance by Judy. 1st time I've heard it with piano accompaniment, which sounds fine. Judy's voice is stellar 👏👏👏👏
Thank you for so many beauitful songs and memories. You are an angel Judy. May you be blessed in love and peace.
My favorite version of this song from Judy Collins - just love it!
First Recorded at 1967,
This performance at 1987, only 20years later, not 40 years.
Judy is so wondrous great, so outstanding....a voice full of precise modulations, her phrasing so perfect... and always so lovely and giving so much of herself( the best of herself). Someone told : Yes her voice is better than...but not so expressive... I don't agree..Judy's manner gives more recognition to the gifts of the good things in life. And still after her greatest loss, she's keeping on that way, Judy's way. ..she sings like she's feeling the melody and the lyrics.... And of course her voice is so gorgeous. A voice , a tool like the wings of angels.
And if you love this version than go to see ...to that one ...with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops .
Judy Collins achieved perfection here. Her passion level is second to none with this particular performance. The attire , the solo setting and the piano. She was the best in the business when young , as you age to perfection so does your so does your performances. She melts my heart I'm 51 a lot younger than she. I can only imagine what she did to the men at 51 when she did this one back in the day.
So!! This is the gal I was listening to with so much attention on my 4 track tapes!!!! A song that helped a kid along the way!
Além da emoção!
Just stunningly beautiful
Just saw her last night. At 73, she still sounds like this...but she didn't sing this. She's heavenly.
A true Gentle Lady...
Judy’s voice and interpretation have actually improved over the years from excellent to legendary. No wonder Joni Mitchell is jealous!
(more like, resentful- feels others 'stole' her material!).
JONI WAS A CHAIN SMOKER AND RUINED HER ONE PRETTY VOICE, SAD,, JUDY OWNED THIS SONG!
such a wonderful voice and song!
@opethharvest Joni Mitchell did not write it FOR Judy, but she wrote it before she had a recording contract. She sang it over the phone to Judy one night in 1967. Judy liked it very much and Joni gave her permission to record it. In the early and mid-60s, Judy was one of the few "folk" singers who had a record contract, so many of the great writers, Leonard Cohen, Eric Andersen, who did not yet have recording deals, brought their songs to Judy as a way of getting them out to the public.
Ahhh ... the olde songs that sing the truth of life. Gosh, I wish they'd sing this way nowaday.
I really think this is her best performance of this song.
The deep impression greeted time of in my soul and the supreme bliss .
Her this song was my youth itself .
From Tokyo in Japan deeply loves her
Wonderful really
Those poor 8 people that do not like this ...

A Judy fan in Cupertino, CA.
Thank you for sharing this video. I am about to add another "like" vote and add to my favorites.
Beautiful!
voz e canção maravilhosa, viva judy
quality - takes me back to my childhood.
Judy Collins always protrudes elegance, resplendence, radiance and liveliness in all her concerts, great pleasure watching her and besides her voice, a talent in musical instrument! have great admiration for you Judy Collins.... any new album or concert?
Fantastic voice....
I did not think the tears would flow... you know? Still, somehow, it's clouds' illusions I recall...
This song rocks! Totally!
Amazing voice !
Just wonderful.
Only the most beautiful voices should sing this song 😉
❤❤😁😁 fabulous!!!
I viewed this, not expecting to like it.... but it's beautiful! She's a good pianist as well as a beautiful singer
One of my 6th grade chorus songs. Great memories.
Rob, the memories must be astonishing!
Probably one of my favorite songs ever. Roger Whittaker did a bit of a darker take on it when he looked at love form both sides now, from win and lose...and looked at life from both sides now, from give and take...speaks to an old soldier,as several of his songs did. Regardless, it's an insightful song that takes a lifetime to appreciate. I find myself reflecting on my life every time I hear it. It's about innocence giving way to wisdom, and the inevitable pain that brings.
Judy Collins , Barbara Streisand near age 50 are simply put "unbelievably beautiful" I can only imagine that Karen Carpenter had she made it to 50 would have been also . These are three ladies that represent absolute beauty in it's finest form. Imagine sitting in a concert hall , seeing all three perform their biggest hits while at their very best . That might be heaven if it's not it's the next best place to be !
Brian Roeh Judy Collins and Barbra Streisand are both nearing 80 at this point. Collins has maintained her clear soprano; Streisand can still sound wonderful in her more limited lower range.
@@wotan10950 not to mention Streisand is a liberal ass !
Amazing how 8 yrs can change a person's view of another.
@@brianr4214 Would Streisand sound better to you if she was a conservative? What a silly comment. I don’t examine the political views of artists. Their views are irrelevant; I want to hear them sing.
PS & yes,her aura radiates beauty.
She accompanies herself beautifully on piano! I think she almost had a memory slip at 2:28, but fought it off well.
If you ever wanted know what an "Angelic" voice sounds like, take a listen. Here it is.
Perfection! What more to say? Peace, Charlie
Thanks for sharing such an inspirational Judy Collin's performance!
I love this .. Just beautiful! Playing over and over.. I used a lyric for Pride
"Tears and fears and feeling proud to say I love right out loud" Thank you for the share !!
Again , Simply Angelic !
And the angel sang
....wow :> Thanks Judy Collins ! :>
very lovely
lovely
outstanding.
If you have wanted to hear or know what a truely "Angelic" voice sounds like, here it is.
Phil ******* Well done Work!
Thank you for posting this beautiful song by Judy!!
Antonio
I love her interpretation. But my fave is still from her original album with the well-known intro.
Phenomenal
Superb ! Great thanks !
This was on the Gary Collins show.
Awesome
so much better than her original recording of this classic joni mitchell masterpiece
@meltzerboy
Her voice is as clear as a mountain stream and as rich as mahogany. Thanks for sharing, meltzerboy, and thank you, betahifi, for posting!
The greatest! Her voice remains the same in 2023!
This is twelve years old. Sadly, she can barely sing now. There is a current performance on RUclips that you can listen to.
@@robinbond7878 Oh, I realy catch what you mean, but I watched her performance at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival in 2022 (you can watch it on RUclips), and for me Judy Collins remains amazing, passionate and lovely sing her songs and covers that she loves, it's not the same, but trougth the years it's not for anyone, rigth?! She's great at least, sush an inspiration. 🥰
@@basicstype994 My comment wasn’t meant as a put down in any way. That performance actually hit me hard. I hadn’t seen her in years and wasn’t aware that she had any health problems. I was happy to see all the love and support she had around her. We should all be so lucky.
@@robinbond7878 Oh, I understand, I really do. She's been through so many trials in her life, she lost her only son, and never stop doing music and stuffs she loves. I wish for her a real good health to move forward, as far as she wants. She's certainly an inspiration to all women. Btw, thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. Best wishes for you!
whoa!
einfach klasse
Wow!-Robust chords and voice-can't nock tis! (o;
