    great explanation, thanks for making this. My friend's PC is having a problem that sounds identical to your power supply problem. Do you have a video that dives deeper into how you diagnosed this?
    If no deep dive video exists, could you tell me how often your pc was rebooting? Did you find it would sometimes happen even when the GPU shouldn't be maxed out (i.e. not many effects happening in game)? Did you find any other solutions, such as turning down graphics settings? Thanks in advance!

    Completely with you on Asus, I've used their motherboards since at least Pentium 3 days and I've given almost all of them away working to friends kids to play with at the end of their useful life. I think my Asus P6T-Delux gave up not so long ago (though tbh it could be something else but i'm short on 12 year old parts to swap out and test it with!). Also love those Corsair PSUs, nice to have monitoring in Windows with its control app, power the PC with a UPS and you get the readings going in at AC and the readings on the DC out from the PSU and you've got all the data you could ever need.

    I'm running a FTW3 Hybrid 3090. Had to swap the PSU out because of transient spikes. Its a beast, but there is no headroom for OC'ing. I actually did a custom power curve and undervolted it and found that it boosts better. Not really a massive uplift, but it does keep temps down even lower.

    ASUS also tend to use higher quality components, better component choice. Like some brands substitute capacitors on the back of the CPU for a couple big ones, but ASUS use up to 20-30 individual smaller capacitors.
    Also worth mentioning, you really want an individual power cable for each input of your GPU from the PSU. If you see one cable with 2 connectors on it and think "yeah I'll use this because it will look cleaner too rather than 2 cables" then you should expect problems. The 3090 has 3 inputs, so you should use a PSU with 3 individual power outputs, splitters are out of the question.

    Hi Will; Another great video ...you're the King of Instruction. I apologize for the lengthy question but I need some advice. If you remember me ...I'm the old guy from Canada who tried to emulate your system ...on a smaller scale (budget) ...lol. I've followed all your instructions & tweaks like the Windows 10 "Ultimate Performance" settings ...but my FPS sucks!!!!
    I've reached the limit for upgrades with my PC I feel. I don't see the extra value in the 3090 so I'm sticking with my 3080. The weak link in my system are my three 4 K displays (43 inches).
    They were cheap but looked dang good on display at the Electronics outlet ...so I bought them. They are TV's with a 60 Hz refresh rate. I didn't see that as an issue as I didn't expect the GPU to handle much beyond that ...& it DOESN'T! The resolution in Nvidia's control panel is 12288 x 2160 ...I have the refresh rate set to 60Hz ...however; on many Sims like ACC I seldom see anything above 45Hz. I'm running the 10900KF ...as you were & I also over clock to 5.2. & my temps stay down around 50 Celsius. I use Fusion software ...in an Alienware system.
    How in heck do you run those monster displays @240 Hz????!!!! Our systems are nearly identical.
    Also ...how did you adjust the stretched skewing on your side monitors?
    & I've upgraded to Load Cell pedals ...they are FANTASTIC! Thanks again for all the help Will.

    • @MsTheCops
      @MsTheCops 2 года назад

      Ok ...I jumped the gun on the resolution question ...thinking you were getting MUCH higher FPS. ...
      ACC usually runs at 60Hz on my system except in unusually taxing situations. So I'm ok with that ...UNTILL
      I upgrade those shitty 60Hz displays ...lol ...thanks Brother

    I really enjoy your videos! I'm more of a sim racer than a computer guy, and I usually struggle with the latter. I heard you mention resolution scaling a few times. I only use iracing, and I run triple 27 144hz screens, and I am always looking for a little performance. When you scale down the resolution, are you doing it in the iracing graphics config, windows display, or nvidia control panel, or all? I scaled iracing's recommended resolution down to the next lowest available option, but didn't change anything else. Is this the right way to go about getting more performance, or am I doing the right thing? Thanks for making this video!

      Hi, do a RUclips search for Windows Optimisation on yt and use a channel called fr33thy follow his guide he also has some overclocking guides if you want to follow through on those also. Following this guide will get your nvidia control panel settings sorted as well as everything you should have set in windows also. With your question on resolution scaling you should have that set just in iRacing. I don’t really play iRacing so don’t know if they have certain settings but if they have DLSS enable that. Best of luck with your rig and keep racing 👍

    • @jdmallia
      @jdmallia 2 года назад

      @@LazyAech Thanks for your reply. After writing this, I went into my app.ini and lowered my resolution by 20% to 6144x1152 @144hz. I have my FPS capped @144, and it hardly ever drops below that even down the pit straights. The lower resolution really isn’t even that noticeable to me, and the FPS gains are definitely worth it! My MSI machine is 5 years old, overclocked to 4.7hz running 2 1070s in SLI. Very happy with the performance now!

    Hi guys great video. Are you able to explain how you get the best resolutions over NDI (I'm assuming that's how you capture your triple screens to the streaming PC)? I've been having big issues with overlays and running in windowed mode on iRacing, so I'd love to see how you guys capture you gaming screen and then if you run overlays while gaming, how you set it up. I'm seeing big frame drops in windowed vs full screen. As soon as I have simhub open and overlays active, it drops from 170fps to 60fps average.

    long story short, going to be running triple 1440p monitors (G7 32"). Trying to figure out if the 3090 is worth the extra $1000..current setup is a Ryzen 9 3900XT, 64GB (CL16 3200), on an MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC. I have been getting so many mixed reviews that I'm unable to come to a solid conclusion. If I’m running 3 monitors @ 1440 and playing F1 2021, ACC, and AMS 2..would the 3090 make a noticeable difference over a 3080? I know ACC is a very demanding sim and many people have said if I’m playing ACC to just go with a 3090 but I want to know if its actually worth the extra $1000 with a noticeable difference. Keep in mind, this pc will also be used for graphic design (PS, PR, AE).. Also on PCpartpicker, with my build, the power supply seems to be fine for a 3090 using a 750watt but I can't imagine that should be enough to ensure I dont trip the PSU.. any suggestions?

    Could someone tell me how to connect three 4k 144hz monitors at the same time to a 4090? On RUclips there are many videos where they show setups with 4k triples at 144hz, so there must be some way to do it, but no one says how to connect them. HDD/SSD/PCIE m.2 affects load times. SSD is much faster than HDD for initial loading. PCIE m.2 is even more faster, but is not required today and you probably won't see improvement in real world. If you have sufficient RAM, and reload a track and cars, they will be in RAM and that will reduce your load times, especially from HDD. HDD/SSD/PCIE m.2 does not affect FPS in racing SIMs. It might affect in future large open world games in a couple of years. Summary: for your game drive go with SSD, as game load times (load of track and cars) will be much faster.

    ACC is very demanding, but once you find the right setting it is very unlikely you have frame drops. It is the only upside of this game. For example with an old system (I have i7 6700 and 1080) I found a setting for 60 FPS in all climatic conditions. The benchmark was obviously night and monsoon. Once I got the 60 fps there, it is very solid and nothing can move me from that 60 fps mark I set for my system. Ironically I have more struggle with AC in starting grid for example, where I can have huge FPS drops (but with AC I usually average a lot more, I am almost all the time over 144). Anyway the real struggle for ACC is to have solid very high FPS. If you want to run 144 fps on a 144hz screen, for example. Well, in that situation you will struggle for sure. To say it all, it is possible only in single screen. With multiple screen you can almost forget it, also in 1080p.

    The 12 gen won't have any advantage because of the different types of cores, outside of power usage. On the older cpus or ryzen they are all performance cores. Making half of them more efficient isn't going to help split the load.

    • @boostedmedia

      Not if you manually set affinity. But what we’ve found is often stutters can occur if a program running in the background suddenly spikes load on one of the cores also running the game. May help there. I guess we’ll see.

      @@boostedmedia yes. Settng affinity can help but that's true for all cpus (I set vr games to real time)
      The 12gen will be faster, I just mean having 2 different types of cores won't be what helps.

      @@boostedmedia because you still have many unused cores. Have you set windows to performance?

    It's a shame ACC doesn't support multi-GPU, like Project Cars, Raceroom, F1 and Autobolista. Two 3090s would easily handle 4k triple.

    be careful, the e core of the 12th gen processors can't be handled properly by windows 10 scheduler but only by windows 11. This is not a joke. So unless you're planning on going windows 11 which i absolutely advise not to, do not buy those new cpus.

      Not really. The test show that running on windows 11 with a gen 12 is slower than windows 10. Check out Gamers Nexus channel.

      @@logo8009 as windows scheduler and games get more optimized. There will likely be situations where windows 10 struggles.
      But even the e cores are decent, so nothing is likely to kill the chip

      @@SlyNine The main issue is windows 11 running ad ware and tracking that are slowing the over all performance down. It's not big in the test but, slightly slower in some applications. Your right it will get better when optimized.
