Numan isn't a big fan of propping up the old songs (despite touring them), so if he's going to let Adam take the piss, why not the tune that's been done a million times? Adam's wonderful, and always has fun no matter what. Bless them both.
I love love love Gary Numan- I also love Adam Ant. I'm sure this was impromptu- It could have been amazing if Adam had rehearsed beforehand, but they had fun nonetheless.
Gary explains in (R)evolution that he had turned Adam Ant down for this, because Adam said he couldn't do a rehearsal... but Adam showed up anyway, and Gemma tried to keep him off stage, but he ran past her and onto stage. Gary said "ok, I'll do the first verse and you do the second", but then Adam obviously lied about knowing the lyrics and ad-libbed. Gary says it was such a WTF moment that he found it funny, and he says about half the audience was with him on seeing the humor, and the other half was not enjoying it. 😆
@@arranwalk It's even weirder when Gary turned him down at first for not being able to make rehearsal, Ant's management send a message saying he'd been practising the lyrics all day and was ready to go! That was clearly BS, but then Adam is obviously pretty wasted here and just making up stuff that his drunken state thinks is clever.
@@calebfuller4713 I think the main problem is that he showed up as the Johnny Depp Willy Wonka rather than the Gene Wilder one. (I just finished Numan's book and was looking for a different video when this popped up. I thought, how bad could it be? Everyone knows Cars!")
was a strange evening that one,say him outside before the show with a kitten,and was standing next to him on the upper level next to the sound and lighting booth,but the best one was the gig where Tick and Tock wandered onto the stage in a pantomime horse costume.

Awww i feel very sorry for Adam, he used to be a sex symbol, so down to earth and wouldn't dare say anything to offend anyone! Strange how he has made a dramatic change with age :S But i am glad he still has his looks, just wish he would take that wig off! :P I am definatley an Antz fan and always will be!!!

i think "gary" let him (adam) get away with his shenanigans because he has been around people in his shoes..as far as drug use or addiction..it was pathetic as a performance.
