People really need to do things the way you do… Slow and methodical and really look at some of the more obvious things that get looked over. Nice job. I’d bet the top needs to be re done, coolant system flushed, it’s caked with whatever was in the coolant, jetting sounds like a weird combination, the plug wire is unreliable. All the hoses hard, auto parts store stuff with screw clamps too large. She’s a rehab special, looks like a nice project though provided parts are still around.

if you use a oiled filter dawn is good but I use purple power degreaser cheap put in spray bottle breaks down dirt and oil rinses of great then reoil filter used it on foam and Kand N gauze works great does not seem to affect life of filter been using for yrs. I like being able to put in spray bottle cause I use it for cleaning chain lube off frame swing arm and rims. great all purpose cleaner like 7 bucks a gallon at any parts store or walmart

I've always used gas to clean my filters. Works great! Just make sure to gently squeeze out the excess gas and then I wash it with dish soap and hot water. People have told me that gas will dissolve the glue that holds the filter together. Has yet to happen to any filter I have ever used. Plus those filter cleaning solutions are expensive.

It was that simple. The bike still runs like a beast to this day too. Even though i dont ride as much as i used too, it's still fun to jump on every once in a while.
