You're telling me the shining sand wasnt a choice
Nah you can see it older games
I'm probably wrong but it could be tied to the resolution. I'm playing at 2K on PC and there's not much sand shine, put it down to 720p as a test and it was a lot more noticeable, but still felt like less than the switch version had
i think it was, im playing it on PC but is less noticeable than the OG switch port
it probably was intentional, so simulate small shiny rocks reflecting the sun, but they re-designed that in the remake
@@notuxnobux It's the same, as the first response says, if you lower the resolution they're more noticeable
The artstyle was already solid enough that being on a more powerful console doesn't really do much for it outside of screenshots. But the game running better is a nice perk, certainly.
If assets are the same, console alone just can change resolution and fps
His hair looks so amazing in 60fps
Yeah, not that much difference, tbh.
@makasete30 Not in a 30fps YT video. In game, it's night and day. Specially since the Switch version is not even 30fps most of the time.
@@makasete30 its difference.. you probably gonna test it in game.. switch version looks choppy while ps5 version looked buttery smooth
@@mappybc6097 sure. I’ll take your word for it, as it doesn’t look too different in the video. I have it on the PS5 by the way. I haven’t started it yet as finishing off FFVII Rebirth.
I was wondering whether to double dip and get it on switch for handheld.
that’s a guy?!?
I like how the sand looked shimmery on switch
I really loved this effect, it was very uncanny and felt intentional
That’s probably resolution based. Turn down the resolution and it’ll become more prominent. Likely has to do with the Depth of Field too
I think it's a "side effect" of how Unreal Engine renders certain 3D aspects at lower resolutions. You can see something similar in Switch games such as Dragon Quest 11 and Bravely Default 2 that also uses Unreal Engine
Really, I thought that it was more like an issue of anti aliasing
fr the sand looks sparkling and mystical from another world. new sand is just normal sand.
I love how the mermaid's tail starts to grow a little above her knees so that her butt can be seen, the people at Atlus know exactly what they are doing lol
take notes disney
Why are you looking at it
@@kingdrift1136 cus is a nice ass
@@kingdrift1136 Humans look at butts. It's what all humans do. Get over it already.
@@kingdrift1136 Why aren't you?
I was torn between the switch and ps5 version and seeing how the base smt5 release struggled on switch I was leaning towards ps5, but with your video and the difference being close enough Ill go with switch. The portability factor makes a difference for me too.
And if you beat the original game, you can transfer some stuff over.
@@paperluigi6132 only 3 demons
@@acebreaker7and some items and essences depending on how many routes you’ve cleared
If you really think 60 and 30fps are "close enough", then you never needed the comparison anyways.
@@yagami999913 The thing is the original game didn't even run at 30fps. it was like 15-20fps. so vengeance hitting 30fps consistently is a big deal. I wanted to make sure it actually did that before deciding on the switch version.
The performance on the Switch was one of the reasons i dropped the OG version. It's great that we can finally play this game on better hardware.
Handless mode >
@@zeonxb6181nah dude if you’re talking about being in docked mode, it didn’t help that much.
Same even on handheld the bad framerate was too noticeable, not only that but lower fps made things way unresponsive too, I can't wait to play this game again on my pc at a stable 60 fps
@@zeonxb6181 Steam Deck >
Yet it was kind of a lazy adaptation. It is just a port wit extra content. Was hopping an improvement in some models.
I dont see that much differences. Probably a few blur spots on the Switch but thats about it. I play the original SMT V on the Switch. But I’am gonna play Vengeance on the PC.
There is a clear difference in framerate mainly. Change the video speed to .5 or .25 and the difference is in our faces. Still, you can see it at regular speed.
It's actually not that much different graphically lol, so I guess it'll come down to portable convenience or stable resolution and frame rate
I have a ps5 and a switch, and while the graphics and fps are better on ps5, im definitely going switch.
I love my rpgs handheld. Much easier with relax with them that way, for me at least
@@renav.3239I’m getting it on both. But will probably play it on PS5 for the smoothness. Some JRPG’s I play on ps5 and some (anything pixel art like Octopath 2, sea of stars, etc) I’ll play on switch
I'm getting both, but prioritizing PS5.
I’ll be getting this for Pc so I can play it on the Ally
Don't trust youtube compression or the fact that this video doesn't output higher than 1080p. Wait for a 4k upload first. Plus the cutscenes don't show the fluidity of movement well either.
This game has unmatched atmosphere
I think the atmosphere is a tad dull
@@namanjotsinghns i think you just like to ruin peoples day.
Nnoo. SMT3 has a better more claustrophobic atmosphere
For these comparison, you guys need to start uploading in 4K 😅
This ☝️☝️☝️
Played this on Switch when it released. Happy its finally on systems that can run it without resorting to 480p to achieve a choppy 30fps.
So now it actually runs smoothly.
There are very few graphical differences between the two versions. That's a great sign.
Well it's just an upgraded switch game
😂😂😂
Nah I would have preferred additionalupgrades but this is how Atlus does stuff
@@crestofhonor2349They just released this game a few years ago. Did you expect a freaking remake? 💀
@@moisescorral8297 You don't need to remake it to get better visuals. It's built in UE4 meaning you can enable additional effects. Plenty of games have done this before when being ported to platforms with more power. This isn't uncommon
This game right here is pretty normal of an atlus port where they don't modify much visually even if the platform has the capabilities of better visuals
It translated pretty well on the switch (probably because of the artstyle)
Edit: grammar
This game isn’t cel shaded
@@crestofhonor2349 Please don't tell me you think that art style is just cel shading 💀
@@keicamboom9915 I really hope he won't, because that will actually just ruin my day. 💀People can't be this clueless, can they...?
@@keicamboom9915 why would cel shading just be the art style. The game isn’t cel shaded. The game’s art style comes from the way the textures are drawn and character models are made. Cel shading is a type of lighting style and Atlus is not using that here
@@crestofhonor2349 But you wrote that xD Or maybe the first comment wrote about the cel shading since it is edited.
5:47 aww, they drastically toned down the red filter.
Unless they actually improved graphics significantly from 1st version. The ps5 version looks so much better (this video doesn't actually capture the quality well).
Switch looks good. I am excited to play it on my PlayStation 5 this time. But both versions are legit.
Better fps means better menus navigation. Since I discovered disgaea 5 recently, I want fluididity in menus in all my jrpgs. Makes the gameplay so much more enjoyable in my opinion. Scrolling down a list with lag is like using something that need lubricant without using lubricant...
Yep, I never finished SMTV, mainly because life, but the laggy and slow loading menus were a considerable part of the why, because I was enjoying the game otherwise.
I honestly love the Switch's presentation with this game.
Never played a shin megami game before this, and the past 9 hours of this game has been just bizarre
I really want this for my PS5 but seeing the quality of Paper Mario Thousand Year Door really is making me question whether I need 60 FPS for a turn based RPG.
Plus the portability plus the steel book case (?) for the Switch version, plus it's $20.00 cheaper finally my OLED TV does slightly upscale the framerate. *Sigh*
Your tv slightly upscales the frame rate? interesting. Also, the turn-based argument goes out the window when you're transversing, exploring & mini-platforming 3d environments at slideshow sub 25fps levels. PMTYD this is not.
Well we’ve already played it on Switch, so we know how it looks like and how well it runs.
It shows when a game is made with the Switch in mind from the get-go. And I mean that in a good way.
How are you lot not noticing the difference in draw distance and shadow resolution? These are the most prominent differences aside from the framerate.
60fps makes exploration so much better, especially in the later areas. In the switch version there were so many times where I'd run into an enemy because the framerate dropped to a slideshow or completely miss a jump due to the input lag. Good game on switch turned to a great game on stronger platforms along with the QoL and content bonuses of course
I have the OG on the Switch and Vengeance on PS5 and honestly i don't really see a big differance, both versions look good.
Played V on switch oled and loved it but it would get blurry every now and then, now I preordered this version on steam deck, I’m hoping for 60fps since it’s deck verified.
It runs perfectly on Deck. I love it.
Why stop at 60. It easily reaches buttery levels at 80-90fps on the oled. Playing it more on the deck than the 4k I can hit on pc.
Major differences between Switch and PS5 version are usually just that the Switch version looks more blurry and the lighting effects are less vibrant, which is also the case here.
also switch is 720p upscaled from 480p using fsr lets not forget ps5 native 4k this video is only 1080p soo its going to look even better in perso nanyone think it will be clsoe to the switch version ur clowning urself
Based on what we see from this video in 1080p, this is how it appears to be, no matter the specs. The Switch is capable of displaying native 720p. Maybe the difference will be more significant in person, maybe it won't be. Some Switch versions have already looked hella clean. In any case, would be pretty foolish to lie to ourselves regarding what we see just because it's supposed to look far better on paper. So let's wait and see. Trash optimization can give very poor quality visuals for example.
5:21 dude jumps over pillar and a rock just appears from behind. If you look further behind, the vending machine just spawns out too.
Both SMT:V and Vengeance are absolutely fantastic on Switch.
Performance wise, they are absolutely terrible
not at all, they are decent but have issues sure.@@Randy28CR
I'm one of those who just have a Switch to play it. Im okay with the game how it is^^
@@Randy28CR Terrible is your opinion.
@@Boyrina it's not. I am playing the Xbox version right now and the Switch versions seems trash now more than ever
I'm glad Atlus came to their senses and ported this game
The Switch Version is absolute ballcider even while docked
Playing this on Yuzu or Ryujinx with mods looks pretty identical to the PS5 version too which I believe from reviews online claims it does a stable 60fps at 1080p resolution. I achieve this on my gaming laptop using Yuzu no problem with some other tweaks to the LOD and shadows to spruce things up from the original switch counterpart. It's awesome though that non-Switch owners can play this game on other systems now; I might pick it up on Steam when it goes on sale and hopefully there will be some other cool PC mods I'd bet on by that time.
PS5 and series X run @ 60fps 4k.
huh, it kinda looks like even the switch version has some slightly improved FPS. Yeah they really should have just pushed it back instead of releasing it like they did.
I am not getting it on the switch again, the OG SMT V had blurry models when starting the fight or when checking their stats in the beginning. PC it is for me.
Stopped after about 20hrs of running around exploring the Netherworld and dealing with the slideshow platforming trying to get places & items. Love SMT games, but wasn't going to continue until it finally got ported elsewhere onto more capable hardware. That time is now and loving it!
Finally be able to play it in a good resolution and framerate... Awesome.
Which platform did you pick? I’m still deciding between ps5 and pc
@@jocybunny ps5. Looks and plays beautifully 🔥
Looks good on the switch!
I bought it on Switch since I don't have PS5 (nor any real desire to get one). PS5 version looks nicer, obviously, but the Switch version is good enough.
No matter how good looking Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance is on PS5, I will still buy it for the Nintendo Switch and gotta say it looks surprisilly good on the Nintendo Switch i'm impressed wow! 😮
Well, I was struggling to find differences, other than the obvious fps and resolution ofc. I think it looks and runs fantastic on the Switch.
Im so glad that SMTV is finally on a console that can run it
I bought it on my series s and its a great game.
I dont see much of a difference honestly.
it's the same but with faster loading and at a higher resolution and framerate
Anisotropic filtering I'd clearly better on ps5 ..probably shadows too
The video is 1089, pa5 is native 4K, I expect it to look better in person.
Lucifer speakes and all i can hear is grandpa max XD
I prefer 60fps but, for turn based jrpgs it doesn't matter because you don't need timing or execution for battles. Also the switch is more convient especially since it makes demon customization quicker.
This will be a hard choice. I like all my rpgs portable. Or pretty much all games. But the perfomance also looks pretty nice on the other consoles.
Only really a difficult choice if there's a belief that portability is only exclusive to the Switch.
I was going to get this game on switch but the boosted frame rate on ps5 really makes me just want to start a new save file on PlayStation
DUDE 😭 You cant take it ro 1080 we must see that 2k bump difference. And that's assuming it reaches 1080 on switch. Big details
its not 1080 on switch its 720p upscaled from 480 using fsr1
Might get on the deck
Portal is better
80-90fps on the oled is all you'll need.
I wish there was a steam deck comparison
its an emulation device. its probably follow how pc will look nontheless
From what I've seen, people are saying it runs well on steam deck.
Buttery 80-90fps on my oled.
I will buy the switch version and play it on switch 2.
Not even confirmed that switch 2 will be cross gen
@@Yakuza1341 Don't worry. They're used to rebuying their games. Papa N requires their sacrifice that they give freely.
Played on Switch for SMTV and now on PC for Vengeance. The 60FPS makes all the difference.
あれ、PS5版砂塵の煌めきが少ないですね😅
the only thing i can tell is ps5 fps is better and make the game much more smoother. while what I'm seeing on the switch side is 30fps.
I'm not sure why the switch version in the video is so sharp and just as good graphic like in ps5. but I have nintendo switch right at home and currently playing and my feedback is it's blurry like the graphic is only for 720p and stretch from it to 1080p to match my monitor.
On a modded mariko switch it can hit a fairly stable 60, definitely getting this on switch
The Switch has less sharpness and detailed. That helps to enhance the 3D effect, even more. I'm enjoying playing more in my tv, than playing vanilla SMT5 in my Switch Lite.
Pop in is terrible on Switch
All versions still have not good pop ins but the switch version is the most obvious
The sands effect gone on ps5
al final simplemente mayor resolución y tasa de refresco pero la cuestión es que bebe de un desarrollo de base en Switch . Incluso te diria que me gusta mas la arena en Switch, veo ese efecto brillo que no esta en la de Play 5 :-P
Runs so much better on ps5 ( in "real life" , not a compressed youtube video ) . The much higher native resolution, 60 fps , anti aliasing, ambient occlusion makes a big difference playing on big TV. I've spent 90 hours on the switch version and frame rate performance overall was terrible and very low res .
Is it 60fps on ps4
tell me if im blind but i don't see better graphics only better framerate
Damn switch really holds up, plus it’s portable. I’m giving switch a W on this one
Can't wait to play this on my Steam Deck OLED
I'm about to pre-order this right now for my Steam Deck OLED
You're getting 80-90fps easily on the oled. So buttery I laid it on my pancakes while eating.
Nice to see that the differences between Switch and PS5 are minor personally.
Cannot wait.
😂😂😂
30fps vs 60fps is day and night difference overall and of course switch graphic quality is.. something. Atleast it runs on switch somehow lol
@Topzchi after all, it was a switch game at the beginning. Although the optimising was not the best. Comparing the hardware is the switch on a extremely stable standpoint, not as good as the PS5 (well with SMT V it's finally worth it to buy a PS5) but good enough after all.
@@Topzchii mean 30 or 60 fps doesnt really matter in a turn based game. I mean 60 obviously looks better. But gameplay wise it doesnt really do anything.
Este juego es un port de switch únicas mejores fps y resolución nada más ,lás texturas son exactamente las mismas sin ninguna mejora
We finally have mainline smt back on a disk
This is a really bad comparison video. Just compression at work here.
I will definitely get this on switch coz you can play it on 🚽🚾💩 and make good decisions.
I hate it on Switch because of the 30 FPS and sometimes it wasn’t even stable. I love the PS5 fluency on 60 FPS, higher resolution, textures and very short load times. It's ok on switch but of you want a better experience, get it on Xbox Series or PS5
had to go and preorder on steam :P ...
PS5 is butter smooth!
Don't see the diff omg the switch is tie bomb
If your on Switch & want more sharpness & upscaling to 4k then combo both mclassic & 4k gamerpro if you have the $$$ to do so.
Nossa eu iria comprar no ps5, mas agora vou continuar no switch mesmo. A diferença é muito pequena, para perder a capacidade portátil.
Cant wait to get my hands on my switch copy tomorrow!
Finally a playable version of this great game. Couldnt play it anymore at ~20fps on switch.
Im looking to play this on PC tomorrow
I would get the switch version because I like the glittery sand ⏳😂
No secret it’s gonna perform better on the PS5. I’m still getting vengeance on the switch cuz I prefer to play this game portable. I’ll take the L lol
Since its a traditional jrpg and not a action rpg. I will get it on the switch
object pop up in switch and the shadow less sharp or dark
I need scissors! 61!
Most noticeable difference is the framerate
Sucks having to buy a game I already own just to get a different ending.
Facts but I’m also kinda glad they ported the game to other systems. Everyone deserves to enjoy this game.
Definitely smelling a sale of this game in like 2 months. ATLUS/SEGA games always go on sale even if new. Sonic Frontiers was like 40 usd barely a month after release and Persona 3 Reload is 40 usd on Amazon for months
What about load times though? 🤔
Damn, the fps makes a massive difference
still switch level assets on ps5. Its just higher resolution and framerate
the characters remind me of god eater 3.
ill stick with the switch mainly because of portability, and i already beat the OG, never had a problem with it either on my oled
I wanna see PS4 and PS5 comparison.
Is there a difference in the loading times?
I never own ps5 but I notice loading time is fine, not slow and longer in switch about 10 second then goes to video game .
60 fps is so beautiful man. I really hate buying switch versions of games because they always end up 30 fps lol.
Would have been nice to see how PS4 fared.
cant wait to play this on my Steam Deck. 60fps on the go is exciting to think about
Seems like the typical Atlus port. Mos Tod the visuals are identical with some slight benefits like higher res shadows. Still very much looks like a 7th gen game like Persona 5 instead of more 8th gen like with Persona 3 Reload
Love how smoth the switch version is, swear i impress at how well its keeping up with the PS5 in graphics the switch my be a weak 9th gen console its a heavy hitter cant wait for nintendo 10th gen console
Is the framerate fixed on switch?
Like is it stable because og smt v had its framerate 25-27 fps while exploring
I'll get the Swtich version adn i'll leave Persona on PS5 :)
Yo prefiero fluidez antes que forzar al juego que se vea bien
