Great to hear they changed the level scaling, that was one of the major issues with the og game, even had to switch the difficulty to easy because I couldnt be bothered to grind for multiple hours
I thought it was just me who sucked. I gave up on it . The grinding was just so wack I don't have much time to play since I keep busy. So I never went back too it.
I absolutely hated the punishment for being underleveled in SMTV. especially with how much exp is required to level up as well as SMT's reputation for requiring strategy over brute force made me annoyed.
@@BoostedMonkey05 the stragedy part is understandable. That's pretty much how intense the games have always been. Being underleveled is as well standable. Yeah. Normally in every Megaten game up to vanilla V, you can be a fee, hell, even 20 levels or so below a boss and still be able to fight them as long as you keep using Buffs and Debuffs, and some luck, but V made it nearly impossible to do a low level run.

I hope they improved on this, it was a major disappointment for long-term SMT fans, I mean the route literally just changed which bosses you face in the last hallway of the game.
i loved smt5 on switch so i'm hyped for this rerelease. I still think smt4 on 3ds is my favourite but it is close, hopefully this rerelease pushes smt5 to the number 1 spot for me.
Quick question did they improve the pacing of Dazai's character arc? I found the boy to be an interesting Law representative with him instead of being the typical order above all archetype, but rather a sacred kid that saw the light when he was under the angel's and protection and grew into someone who believes upholding Yahweh's order will be best for humanity and benign demons(such as the fey) since at least angels and fairies aren't going to mug or devour you but want peace and order under the watchful eye of the next Nahobino.
in vengance? yeah, the new Path overall puts less view on the world alone and more on the Human companions together WITH the world. Also overall everything gameplay wise is already 3 times better and most importantly...MORE DEMONS!
It's basically the game they wanted to make at first, but this time mostly complete. Great review it's nice to hear how close and different from the original game this version ends up being.

I'm fairly new to the switch having only played the full xenoblade series, pokemon scarlet and matroid prime. This game looks sick, would you recommend this as a good entry point to the series?
For first time players. Is the original canon recommended then do veangeance on ng+? What am i missing if i just go straight for canon of vengeance? Also *spoiler* a certain charter is now recruitable. Can you carry this character in ng+ or no?
I think both routes kind of paint the whole picture. So I can see Vengeance being better for the characters while Creation teaches more about the world itself. Experiencing both in any order (you don't need every ending because there are multiple ones for each route) will give the full picture. Creation was the OG so I can see some elements in Vengeance working better with Creation knowledge in mind and I heard the Vengeance Superboss is only unlocked via beating the Creation Superboss in a prior NG. My plan will be going for the plat anyways so I will play through both routes multiple times.
You can start with whichever you want. Both are different canons. Tho I would recommend playing Vengeance first since it’s more interesting, in my opinion.
Loving the game so far, only problem with it is that I wish they had redone the pre-rendered cutscenes from the switch version. That resolution drop is really jarring.
All the reviews I have seen said that you can go straight to vengeance with no issues In fact, if you didn't buy the original, you can't anymore as that version has been delisted
I agree its actually huge they fixed level scaling in Vengeance, in the OG SMT V I was playing on Hard and got stuck on Shiva for 3 months and just about died irl when I found out I needed to beat the game a second time for the true Nuetral ending.
This should have been available as an expansion for those that dropped full price for the original release. Atlus is basically signaling me to buy this thing second hand for noe more than 20 bucks.
Playing this on Yuzu or Ryujinx with mods looks pretty identical to the ps5 version too which I believe from reviews online claims 60fps at 1080p resolution. So far in my playthrough, no. If you play the canon of vengeance, it plays a mix of the new music and old. Haven’t played canon of creation but I’d assume it has mostly the old music
Canon of Creation is required to fight the superboss in Vengeance FYI so I'm picking that first since I never finished SMT V anyways (also there are gameplay additions throughout Creation so that's a good thing)
I have a question for those who already pllayed the game. Is there any new endgame demon (level 80-90) aside the usual shiva, metatron, beelzebub, lucifer?

Im really interested in playing this, but i already have started playing person 3 reload. Are there material differences in the gameplay mechanics between these two games? Would it be more of the same vibe?
SMTV doesn't have any of the social links and calendar managing stuff, but the RPG and monster fusion elements are the same and arguably better. SMT series is also more plot heavy compared to persona's laid-back life sim vibes
5The Persona series is a spin-off of this series, more light-hearted with school social sim aspects involved. They both have completely different vibes. @@mrwiggles5331 With Vengeance removing the original game's soft-level cap, you shouldn't need to grind if you're at least decently skilled and make a point of completing all the sidequests you can. That said, the SMT series is notorious for being significantly more difficult than the average game. SMT V, while far from unreasonable, is going to be tough if you're not used to harsh turn-based combat. My main advice to any newcomer to most SMT games (or Persona games for that matter) is to try and end most battles in a single turn without giving the enemy any chance to act. The press-turn system (getting extra actions by hitting weaknesses or losing them if your moves miss or are blocked) can change the momentum of a fight very quickly. Letting the enemy team get a single turn can snowball into them taking huge chunks out of your team before you get another change to act, so don't give them that chance if at all possible. As for boss battles, similar logic applies; try to end fights as quickly as the boss' health supply will allow, with stat buffs and debuffs being critical to surviving many of those battles.
It's not really a grindfest, unless the difficulty is too high for you. There is also a "Safety" difficulty as a free DLC, depending on your platform. Best advice: fuse, fuse, fuse. Fill that Compendium up as fast as you can. You could try to "work your way up" a particular race of your choice, use it as your "main" army, and then go back to fill out the rest, from low to high. Use Reverse Compendium Fusion a LOT. It takes most of the guesswork out of fusing. For Elementals, DO NOT SUMMON THEM STRAIGHT FROM THE COMPENDIUM. It's MUCH cheaper to do a Reverse Compendium Fusion of the Elemental, then use that for the next Fusion (you'll see what I mean).
Nah level scaling was trash and it dicourages people trying to beat stronger demons. It just made the game more boring. This new change is objetively better .
Does this new level scaling fix the final boss in the canon of creation in the true neutral ending, because you had to fight shiva first (level 99) but the final boss is only level 90
@@astolfo2305 in the base gane you had to beat shiva first to unlock the true neutral route. Your party would be so over leveled against the final boss, it's not even a challenge
Large level gaps were a common thing in older SMT games, and you could (with the right team) best a foe much higher level than you, for example Matador in Nocturne is level 30, but you fight him when you're about level 15
Im so disappointed by Atlus way of publishing their definitive games.. I bought the special edition of smt v back when it came out, and haven't had a chance to play it, but I was planning on, but now seeing smt vengeance.. it's really just upsetting, honestly

I never finished the game on my switch even though I bought it for that, and when I saw they were making this version right around the time I was going to finally sit down and play it I was like screw that like how dare you going to sell me the same game again 😂 they literally could have just patched the old game but you know whatever I might not mind buying it on steam. Just wondering if it's going to be worth it ty for the review
As a hardcore SMT fan this is among my favorite of the modern era. My good it feels like a super sentai toketsu warrior battling kaijus and otherworldy monsters. The game is phenomenal and among atlus best game.
Just one thing, it's not a Definitive edition of smt5 since there is DLCs available for purchase (a true definitive edition would have everything on the cartridge/disc or at least a download code). But besides that tiny thing that bothers me, I'm ready on every consoles to build my ultimate team of demons.
Never played Persona 5 but if there was still content available to purchase despite the "royal edition" supposed to be the definitive version of that game, then yes it wasn't a definitive version.
The DLCs are just add ons you wont be needing unless you are a fan of the series. Like you wont be knowing who the fuck is Dagda and Konohana Sakuya unless you play SMT IV Apocalypse and P4G or Majin Tensei II. They wont make the game "definitive".
Before i'm buying and playing Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance, do I really have to buy and play the First Shin Megami Tensei V game and is this amazing looking version a sequel or a remake/remaster? I believe this is the Same Game, but a remake. For me i'm fine with the Nintendo Switch version and I really want to play Shin Megame Tensei V Vengeance on the Nintendo Switch. Shin Megeami Tensei V (2021) is one of my favourite games because it's an anime and the Pokémon like Monster Capture game and this Vengeance version looks even better, I will buy Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance or Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble not Luigi's Mansion 2 in this june. That Review was the Best Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance today because this is shorter than others, thank you Gamexplain! 😈💙

I didn't play the original release on switch and I'm planning o getting the game on PS5. Should I just skip cannon of creation and go straight to vengeance?
"Is 60fps really necessary for this kind of games? Not really" it sure as hell is! 😂 every little animation is so much smoother and when it happens alot on the screen it VERY needed.
Altho I don't generally like hard games that force you to fail every major battle just so you can gather information and change your strategy accordingly... i gotta say, I tried 2 times to beat King Frost on those warehouses in the second map, and on the third time, I used Jack Frost's essence, changing my Ice affinity to DRAIN. King Frost couldn't kill me xD Game is super hard, and tho it doesn't have the charm and aesthetics of Persona 5 Royal, the mechanics are basically the same, the demons are most of the same as the Personas in that game so it's a really good game for a P5 fan. Is having a guest in your party new? I swear I never had any guests in my party when I played through the Switch original.
Yes
@@billyboleson2830 Ah, thank you.
Can't wait to replay this on my switch & playing it on my Xbox for the first time.
this game is just like pokemon but with demons
I thought you said you are going to give numeric scores from now on and not that "LOVED" emoji???
U dont want to know the score for this game…
I understand playing this on ps5 instead of switch, but how about testing it to let people know if the framerate in certain areas has improved
I just know that the toxic Megaten fans are going to bitch about the game being more fair
I love the battle system but it's definitely a punishing game, lol.
Nah level scaling was trash and it dicourages people trying to beat stronger demons. It just made the game more boring. This new change is objetively better .
Nu-uh
Megaten fans lambasted the OG for its doodoo scaling lol
Nah, the level scaling in the og was trash and the spike at the end of the game was abhorrent game design lol I'm glad they changed this
Does this new level scaling fix the final boss in the canon of creation in the true neutral ending, because you had to fight shiva first (level 99) but the final boss is only level 90
shiva was super boss
@@astolfo2305 in the base gane you had to beat shiva first to unlock the true neutral route. Your party would be so over leveled against the final boss, it's not even a challenge
2:55 A "mere" 20 levels above you? Are you ok, bro? I really hope you misspoke. How is this any different than any other RPG?
Large level gaps were a common thing in older SMT games, and you could (with the right team) best a foe much higher level than you, for example Matador in Nocturne is level 30, but you fight him when you're about level 15
I dont know why he said that either. Especially since if youre 5 levels below you will barely scratch enemies
0:45
Welp I'm sold 🥵
Diabolical !!
I can’t wait to play this
Great review!!
Im so disappointed by Atlus way of publishing their definitive games.. I bought the special edition of smt v back when it came out, and haven't had a chance to play it, but I was planning on, but now seeing smt vengeance.. it's really just upsetting, honestly
Wait that's your own fault for neglecting the game back in 2021 not Atlus doing a definitive version nearly 3 years later lol
Brother buy an offline activation account for like 4 bucks like i did
How did you not find time in 3 WHOLE ASS YEARS to play a 60-70 hour game??? No one is that busy.
@@enigmaticheart666 being in the army is tough, buddy
You’ve had years to play it…thats your fault
Does anybody knows if the quality of life goes both routes andmvengeance only chances the narrative and new area. And also the news demons are they for both routes? I am planning to play both since I never played the game
I don't know if all improvements are in vainilla, but combat changes are 100% there, the exploration and guest sistem I can't tell.
It goes for both routes. They showed them in vaious PVs and showcases for the past few months and just few days ago.
Die for me!
Does anyone know if you can use console’s built/in capture functionality to capture video clips in vengeance? (Except the final dungeon and ending)
Im in ps5 last zone and until now I was able to take a clip every time
I still like SMT IV more than 5. But Yoko is my new Walter.
How do you play this game early?
Game media channels get the games early. Isn't this not common sense?
And it still comes with Day 1 DLC... YAY! 😂
3:14 fighting an enemy with light attacks while using an essence weak to light is definitely not a good idea 💀
Weeb
Rikku :)
Can we choose Japanese voice actors instead of english ? 🙏 I'm a bit worried 😅
Of course. That was in the vanilla version
Does he talk about the DLC?
The DLC unlocks on launch, so no.
Just one thing, it's not a Definitive edition of smt5 since there is DLCs available for purchase (a true definitive edition would have everything on the cartridge/disc or at least a download code).
But besides that tiny thing that bothers me, I'm ready on every consoles to build my ultimate team of demons.
Calling it not a definitive edition because of DLC is weird because that makes Persona 5 Royal on the PS4 not definitive either.
It had it all on Switch, no DLC. Eventually they did give the DLC away for the PS4 version, right?
This is the same game this is basically Person 5 royal or Persona 4 Golden for Smtv
Im gonna buy it for the ps5, just for the graphics and new content, honestly i woudnt buy it for the switch, its time to move on
It’s literally the same game, just with an quality of life improvements and an alternate narrative path.
Vengeance has both the Original route (canon of Creation, or not take the girls hand) and Vengeance route (Canon of Vengeance, or take the girls hand).
Buying and playing? What the other option? Buying and nailing to the wall?
I didn't play the original release on switch and I'm planning o getting the game on PS5. Should I just skip cannon of creation and go straight to vengeance?
Do both on one after the other
i put down the original because of its god awful frame rate, looking forward to playing it on more capable hardware.
Well what about nocturne do u fill it's better cause I do not
I like V way more than Nocturne
Oh GameXplain got a black staffer now! That's wassup!
They nerf the combat system though. But I will still pick n beat a lot easier now 😂
Maybe a dumb question but does Denuvo have an impact of the game on PC?
Yes its a dumb question. No it doesnt
Coming from Persona, i stayed away from SMT series. I bought it after hearing it is more accessible because i hate unfair games
Explain "unfair" LoL
@@chechuromero5734 He means game with challenge is unfair 😂. He hates Souls games
What if you thought the original was too easy and didn't provide a good enough grind?
This game absolutely needs 60 fps
Put it on PC!!!
It is on PC
lol
It is launched on the same day
It’s easy now. “Casual”
"Is 60fps really necessary for this kind of games? Not really" it sure as hell is! 😂 every little animation is so much smoother and when it happens alot on the screen it VERY needed.
Ty
is this simply dad?
Altho I don't generally like hard games that force you to fail every major battle just so you can gather information and change your strategy accordingly... i gotta say, I tried 2 times to beat King Frost on those warehouses in the second map, and on the third time, I used Jack Frost's essence, changing my Ice affinity to DRAIN. King Frost couldn't kill me xD
Game is super hard, and tho it doesn't have the charm and aesthetics of Persona 5 Royal, the mechanics are basically the same, the demons are most of the same as the Personas in that game so it's a really good game for a P5 fan. I'm 20something hours in.
