From having read the manual of the Casio equivalent, it lets you change what the LCD displays, the options being seconds, digital time or date. Not sure whether the SMKEI matches this, it's display looks simpler so perhaps not. While I have more digital pieces, I prefer an analogue dial with clear (preferably 24h notation) markings and contrasting hands. Which is great for accurately estimating durations, something I benefit from in uni for my habit of catching bus trips with razor-thin margins (haven't missed a single bus this year so it works). The bottom LCD section displays seconds regardless, since there is no second hand on the watch. I very much agree with you there, Fratellini! 👌 I am quite enjoying the improvements from SKMEI in this 2023 release - particularly the button layout which confirms to what we are used to from Casio (Unlike the SKMEI 1628, which has the buttons in a different order - Causing me to fumble often 😂) You're right. The positive display is a great addition too. What I like about SKMEI is that they seem to take these seemingly obvious solutions (Positive Displays, Better Backlights) that Casio seem to "restrict", and just rolls with it. 😄👌

I like Skmei, I have the one that is a copy of the G Shock square with the negative display. The backlight on the Skmei is amazing but it always tends to run a bit slow. Skmei’s are not bad affordable watches at all but Casio’s are far superior in just about every way. I really do like some of the design choices that Skmei makes for sure and definitely wouldn’t mind seeing something original from them.

I've noticed the same on my Skmei watches. My Casios end up less than a minute from each other after months in the watch box but my Skmei will be a few minutes off. Hi mate, what a great choice! 👌 YES! There is a way to readjust the hands to calibrate them. I was advised in a comment from a viewer “1988banker” (credit to him), who advised the following procedure that I was able to test and verify: “To calibrate make sure you are on the main time screen. Press and hold the top left button, just like setting the watch. Only difference is you keep holding the button! Don't let go like you would if you were setting the time. It will then say H. SET then SUB. You now have control of the day wheel. Press the bottom right button to move the day wheel. You want it aligned with Sunday! Sunday is the calibration day. Press the button left button when you're done. It will then flash 0.00. 0:00 should be at 12 o'clock. 12 is where the hands should be calibrated at to align with the digital time. Technically you could set it at a different time if you wanted. You could play with the hands at 12 to get them to line up with the indices the way you want. Maybe a click before 12, or a click after 12. I just keep it in the middle. When you are done hit the top left again. That's it! You can take off the hour and minute hand and put them back on if you wanted to. If they were really off. I wouldn't do it unless it was really off. Don't take off the day wheel hand though! It doesn't attach like a regular hand like the Casio Ga2100 does! I'm pretty decent with taking hands on and off, and I couldn't put a day wheel hand back on! You would need another watch lol. It took me some time to figure this out when I first got the watch. Reading the manual. Finally just searched for a video on it. Hope this helps though. Nice review, but when you present a skemei on your channel saying unboxing i get a little confuse but it is seems that cheap knockoff watch factory doesn't even bother on put that cheap piece of plastic on a cardboard box, or is because a box it's more expensive than the watch?, it is not surprise for me if the next time you present a skemei it comes wrapping on a newspaper. There is no force on the universe that convince me that skemei is a reliable brand. One more time, nice review, like your channel👍
Hahaha, you're right there, David! 💯 Indeed, SKMEI doesn't tend to send boxes with their watches... (Must save on shipping) although I think I've seen it as an option before! In all honestly, people are more familiar with the term "Unboxing", so that's what I use. Although technically, it's more of an 'Unwrapping', isn't it? 😜 That's a fair assessment. I respect that.
Indeed, SKMEI doesn't tend to send boxes with their watches... (Must save on shipping) although I think I've seen it as an option before!
In all honestly, people are more familiar with the term "Unboxing", so that's what I use. Although technically, it's more of an 'Unwrapping', isn't it? 😜
That's a fair assessment. I respect that. I do like to test things for myself before making a judgement, and so far, I am quite happy with the SKMEI watches I've experienced in terms of reliability. (Especially for the price!)
Thanks for weighing in, brother! 🙏
@@goatreviews im glad you got good experience with that brand so far, maybe when they stop copy casio or timex models and starts make it owns i change my mind and stop being so rude with the brand, of course im a watch snoob 😁, i only use gshock. Greetins from Lima, my friend.
@@goatreviews im glad that you got a good experience with that brand so far, maybe if they start to make they onw models instead copy ones from casio or timex i think different, but because im a "watch snoob" i will never use thst brand, im stick with gshock👍, greetings from Peru my friend.
Not my cup of the to be fair but looks a cool little watch though think Skmei are stepping up the quality a bit lately! So surprised you didn't get the black/gold version!
😉👌
Cheers Paul! 🍻 I couldn't agree more. 💯
This is a MAJOR step up for SKMEI. 👌
Oh man, believe me the Black and Gold was under HEAVY consideration! 😜
In the end, I didn't want to overdo my collection with too many similar colourways though, since I've got the MR-G and GD-350 in Black and Gold.
@@goatreviews yeah I understand. I've got the analogue bug now looking for an Omega Seamaster homage next. Have a few pieces on the shortlist!
@@paulmcnamara2908 Awesome! 🙌 That sounds intriguing!… and that your collection is both growing and evolving 😁 Can’t wait to see what you come up with. 👌
@goatreviews got a bite on selling one of my RCs so if that pans out will be getting one very soon. 😉👌
Love it! A bit of cross-pollination between the 2 hobbies @@paulmcnamara2908 😎👌 A balance between RC Cars and Watches, each funding each other 🤩 Best of luck with the sale! 🤞
Can the case fit the Casio ga and make it a mod ?
Good question, Jean! 👌
While I down own a GA2100 to test this, I can say that none of the SKMEI’s I have reviewed have been able to fit a module-swap with their Casio counterpart so far. 🤔
Cool video mate
Thank you, Adilislam! 🙏😁 Glad you enjoyed it.
It's giving me Bell & Ross Vibes 😅
Interesting - I was not familiar with Bell& Ross, and had to look it up 😄 Thanks for sharing! 🙏
Premi il pulsante start , quello in basso a destra guardando l’orologio, e sul mio ga2100 il display cambierà segnando l’ora. Sempre se skmei ha copiato il modulo casio 1:1
Thank you for the advice! 🙏
You are 💯 correct. I have tested this and was able to swap between time and date, by pressing the button at the bottom right. 👌
Looks like SKMEI have decided to fully embrace copying Casio now 😁
New vid ! Thanks
No worries Ginsu! 👌 Hope you enjoyed it 😁
Nice video. Keep going. I bought one, and this watch has a insane value for money. I have one question, does anyone knows if and how HND (small marker under DST) works?
Thanks, Vasco! 🙏 Of course I will 😄
It really is insane value, right?! 👌 Wow, I didn't notice that 'HND' text on the dial until you mentioned it! I just had a look in the instructions and didn't see anything 🤔
Why can’t they just give it an actual brand name.
Yep - I am not a fan of the name either TBH! 😂👌
@@goatreviews what watch is that? “It’s a SKMEI”. Come on man. What’s wrong with these Chinese companies? You wanna market to the US? Give it a proper name and we will make it a real brand.
Good point, @@mistadopeman ! You know what it feels like to me? Like they started off with that name, without necessarily giving it too much thought (they were just going to copy other brands, why bother, right?). Then as they grew, it became too late to change. Too late to rebrand. Now they are stuck with the name! 😐
Brand name sounds like scummy
LOL! It does 🤣
Although I have been apparently mispronouncing it - according to another comment, it’s pronounced See-Kuh-May. 🤷🏻♂️
У меня несколько моделей skmel и одни cuuren отличные часы. Skmel уступает Casio только в батарее, 3 года против 7 у Casio, в остальном они лучше во всём. В России их можно купить от 7$
Awesome! 🙌 They are great watches for the money.
I would add that the overall build quality of the SKMEI is very slightly less than Casio.
Certainly the tradeoff of battery life for added backlight, (and lower price) is one that many way wish to take!
Thanks for weighing in, Travkin! 🙏
