I'm from Brazil. I consider myself a Casio fan, but the only watch that i had from them was the classic f91-w, that i had for 7 years. Unfortunately almost all watch brands are expensive in my country, something that is around 10 dollars to people are often 5x more expensive (not including taxes). When i learned about skmei i had the opportunity to buy some of the designs that i always wanted from Casio. I'm not saying what they do it right, I actually think they straight up STEAL designs, although they don't look exactly the same. But in the reality of my country it makes more sense to buy a less expensive watch that has similar qualities of a Casio. Besides, skmei is an actual brand, it's better to buy from them then from knock-offs. It's not actually piracy, it's more like "generic product".
@@userfalatiojogostechnically what I would consider a true "homage" a clone or a knock off would try to present itself as the authentic Casio with branding and all. Skmei does change around some functions and use their own company logo and slightly different labeling. Just because it's a homage of a lower price watch than say, a Rolex, doesn't change the fact that it's still a homage. Nobody minds wearing casios and Timex that are almost identical to brands that cost 10s of thousands. So I don't get the hate for companies like skmei that makes them for casios.
The minute hand seems to be slightly off sometimes because it moves every 20 seconds instead of slowly rotating with the time. It's common practice and a good way to save power.
This “SKMEI” is significantly better than the other models of the same manufacturer. I have nothing to criticize for what it offers with those features and that price. Thanks for highlighting this interesting alternative.
Thanks Fratellini! I must agree with you on that. 👌 This 2023 release has showed me that SKMEI are actively taking feedback, and improving over their older models, like the 1628. No problem, my friend! 🙏 Good to hear from you, and I hope you're going well 😁
@gabrielcc. Hi Gabriel! 👋 As far as I’m aware the 1628 hasn’t been changed. What I meant was, that SKMEI has made improvements overall since the 1628, such as by correcting the 4 button positions to be what we are used to from Casio watches 😄👌
Many Casios actually do let you change the countdown timer seconds. But it's indeed annoying that not all models do as the seconds can simply be left at 0 if you don't need it. The reason the hand just keeps spinning there is that the hour hand is slaved to it and the mechanism can only turn one way, thus it has to turn 23 hours and 59 minutes to make that adjustment. It lacking a seconds hand is fine though, in practice I find myself ignoring the seconds hand of my Vostok even while using it to catch buses with razor-thin margins. It does seem like an interesting piece, if my GBX-100 were to fail I think I would pick up the Casio equivalent as it's replacement as I have come to like reading the analogue time more. Instead of reading the time, I have started to visualise what the time I am aiming for looks like, to then compare how far away the hands are from this. Which gives a very accurate estimation of the leftover duration, without any head-math.
Cheers, RedWyvern! 😁 I've literally been wondering about this exact question, actually. I do own Casio's that let you adjust the second, but the 2 models I showed that didn't (WS-1700H and Time Distortion), both have Auto-Repeat! So I am beginning to think that Auto-Repeat, and 'Countdown Seconds' are mutually exclusive features 🤔 I'd love to hear if anyone knows of a Casio model that proves this theory wrong! Oh wow, I was not sure about this, and how the gears work! I was thinking "Surely, it can't be that hard for the gear to go backwards?". Then I even considered, OK sure, the hands can't go backwards, fine. But at least let the hour-hand STAY STILL while the minute hand does it's rotation, so that it doesn't have to ALSO do a full rotation with it! 😅 Nice one. Glad your awesome Vostok is serving you well! And it seems an interesting transition is occurring... Digital to Analog! 😄 I always appreciate your valuable input, man! Thanks so much for weighing in. 🙏
Far from your Casio. This is a 10$ watch. Quality is what you spend. Come on, don't write it is a 2100.

@@goatreviews I see a lot of people getting their panties in a bunch over the skmei brand. People are gonna buy what they want to buy. At the end of the day its your money spend it where you want to. The viewing angle on the LCD isnt quite as good as the F91W but the backlight on the clone blows the f91w out of the water. I'm sorry if that inflames the casio hatewagon but its the truth. Cheers Hamza! 🙏 I appreciate it 😁
If you're a Casio owner who never owned a skmei, keep it that way, don't feed the shameless counterfeiters.
Cheers for your input, Ekstra! 🙏 It's a very valid criticism of the SKMEI brand. Nobody can deny that they are shamelessly copying other brands designs! I have to admit though, as times are tough, I can see why people would buy this watch, and can also see why there is a need for SKMEI to fill this place in the market. 👌
So skmei is mainly a watch company in Asia so in my country 90 dollar watch of Casio is expensive 9000 rupees and rather I would get a smart watch but skmei a nice with compass steps counter will cost 2500 or 3000
@@shenishbasnet7464 Thanks for weighing in, Shenish! 🙏
1628 облезли серебристые кнопки, показался жёлтый металл - латунь. За 6 месяцев. Часы хлам.
Oh my goodness! 😱 I am shocked to hear this, Семен! That sucks 🙁 I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to my 1628. 🤞 Thankfully I am only wearing it in rotation with other watches, so have yet to experience this issue. Thanks so much for pointing this out! 🙏
dial is off
Oh dear - What's off about the Dial Daedalus? Would you care to elaborate?

I'm 4 min late. Bye
Dang, sorry you missed the kickoff for the premiere, Babybod! The video is now released to watch at your leisure 😁
Hope it was worth the wait for you! 👌
@@goatreviews yeah I love your videos. Was rad to watch it premiere. Thanks for the good stuff daddy
more skmei trash. not a fan of the company. love the casios, though. great video homie
Cheers Eksoteric! 🙏 Point taken. 👌 The quality can’t hold up anywhere near to Casio, and I definitely prefer the Casio brand overall too 👌
Though it is hard to ignore the value proposition of SKMEI for the price! So I can see why it’s got a lot of attention, particularly in a time where customers are becoming more price sensitive.
For the price it’s not a bad watch. Casio could copy some of the backlights SKMEI uses. Casio is lacking in this area
@@goatreviews
I see a lot of people getting their panties in a bunch over the skmei brand. People are gonna buy what they want to buy. At the end of the day its your money spend it where you want to.
For instance i bought the skmei f91w clone because in my opinion its a superior watch. The viewing angle on the LCD isnt quite as good as the F91W but the backlight on the clone blows the f91w out of the water. I'm sorry if that inflames the casio hatewagon but its the truth.
If Casio wants to stay competitive on the lower end then they need to update their backlights. And yes i own an actual f91w also but the dang tiny LED grrrrrrr.
Good on you, @@dawnofwar4302 ! 🙌
This is the mindset I tend to adopt, too. 👌 The only person who is affected by wearing a watch, is that person themselves!
Good on you for picking up the SKMEI 1412, I am very happy with mine too, and often use it as a sleep-watch after putting a comfy nylon elastic strap on it. Great backlight! 🤩👌
@@heyhocodyo97That’s a big one for me. It seems Casio doesn’t want to do metal bezel/cases without charging an arm a leg for them.
that Skmei thing is a dog's poop.....doesn't matter is it cheap or no, it's a rubbish anyway.
Haha, I concede that it's not the best quality option... but I must say I was very impressed with how it performed for this price, after wearing it for a week!
Thanks for weighing in, Termit520! 🙏
